Meanwhile, public distrust and political cynicism greatly influence public policies created by political leaders. Through discourse network analysis, this study wants to see the relationship between the discourse on postponing elections and the relationship between discourse and public policy. The novelty of the previous research on postponing elections lies in the theory of political cynicism which is very relevant in explaining the process of forming policies on this issue. This research looks at during (January-April 2022), the issue of postponing elections produces conflict discourse, this also explains that conflict discourse often occurs in controversial policies. This controversial policy conflict brought the public to a high level of distrust, directly proportional to the political cynicism that occurred. Finally, the neutral discourse that was present reminded political leaders to focus more on urgent problems because the impact of political cynicism also made it difficult for political leaders to make decisions.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46487231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BTS, through their music, seems to carry the concept of a \"female-friendly model of masculinity\". This feminine masculine identity is attached to BTS members and creates a typical stereotype of Asian men in the United States. This study aims to determine the representation of masculinity displayed by the boy group BTS in their video clips from 2013 to 2021 and observe at least 33 video clips. The researcher observed the symbol representation in the video clip with a Critical Discourse Analysis from Norman Fairclough and then conducted a thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke. The results showed a change in the representation of masculinity throughout their careers. This change in representation is also a form of compromise and negotiation between BTS as artists and the music industry's demands at an international level","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45885157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Establishing an argumentative “communication” relationship between digital mass media and society is necessary because the narratives built by digital mass media tend to represent particular interests. Therefore, between the two, an argumentative “communication” relationship is needed to reach a consensus through the expression of rational language. This relationship actually forms a communicative society based on the value of emancipatory critical rationality to achieve \"consensus\". Thus, the problem posed in this study, ‘How is the cognitive response and form of digital society in Indonesia within the scope of the digital mass media era?’ To answer that question this study used a qualitative approach by conducting a sociological study of the narratives in the digital mass media user community, especially convergence mass media (kompas.com, tempo.co, and tribunnews.com). While the technique of the validity test of the narrative data of people who use digital mass media uses was the triangulation technique of sources and theories. This study found that digital society can create and produce imaginative spaces based on its own laws and culture. Its awareness of the digital mass media narrative is solid and shifts its passive role as an object to be ‘interactive’ (itself as a subject) with mass media. Meanwhile, the relationship between digital society and communication technology has three options, namely, first, digital society positions itself as technology; second, humanize technology as itself; and third, dialectically compromising the potential of humanity and technology.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49057622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To undertake academic and non-academic activities, social media are usually utilized by students in higher distance education to communicate with peers and instructors during the learning process. Some of them had difficulty adjusting to the new method of learning. The goal of the study is to examine how they utilize social media in relation to their access behaviour. This online survey received responses from 549 individuals in purposive samplingThe finding shows a considerable correlation between access capacity behaviour and social media usage. It is evident that access habits, which are supported by behaviour and accessibility, have a substantial effect on the use of entertainment and socialization. Based on these findings, it is understandable that social media offer more abundantly relaxing contents that easily tempts students than the serious ones. In order to address this issue, educational institutions must develop several easy and engaging media-based educational tools.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46485854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Idol-roleplaying refers to the activity where users or role-players create an account under the name and using the identity of their favorite idol, and then using it to interact with other role-players or other fans based on the image and plot that the role-player has determined. This phenomenon evokes question in regards to the identity performed by users or role-players under the veil of their idol’s identity, to the extent of how they interact with fellow role-players using that particular roleplay account. Hence, this research is significant in studying the idol-roleplaying phenomenon and the self-identity performance of fans, particularly in the context of Indonesian youth’s culture. This research is conducted with virtual ethnography method, involving eight role-players as informants. Besides, Pacitan local online media are firstly allowed under regulations (PKPU No 13, 2020) to achieve the success of the elections. From this first-time involvement, the local online media are dealt with various interests trying to attract journalists or online media to stand with one or the other candidate pairs. To meet the purpose, the researchers employed qualitative research methods using framing analysis. In this case, Edelman framing analysis, with categorization choice by highlighting and eliminating other aspects, aims at building an opinion. In conformity with the results, the local online media are not neutral. Further, the news text framing of the online media professionalism in reporting the Pacitan Pilkada was as follows: 1) political culture in Pacitan, 2) ethical competence, 3) legal competence, 4) knowledge competence. Those competencies must be possessed by a journalist. Even more, they were carrying out political activities such as the 2020 Pilkada. The professionalism of journalists was necessarily needed, especially in Indonesia’s democratic party implementation to elect legislative and executive leaders who were truly coming from the people’s soul.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42347653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
