Teachers may provide either questioning, cueing, prompting, or explaining and is based on students’ actual ability. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the scaffolding provision and students’ creative thinking skills on students' science process skills (SPS) in a project-based learning (PjBL) about acid and base concepts. A quasy factorial experiment research design was applied to collect data using a pre-validated SPS-observation. An experiment group from SMAN 3 in Jambi City had learnt the concepts using a scaffolding-assisted PjBL while a control group from the same school had learnt it using PjBL without scaffolding. Prior to the learning, creative thinking ability of the students was measured using a questionnaire. Data was then analyzed using a two-way Anova test assisted by SPSS software. The results of analyses showed that there was an effect of the scaffolding and the creative thinking ability on the students’ SPS. Potential interaction between those variables was also seen in affecting the SPS. It appears that the the presence of scaffolding and the initial students’ ability in creative thinking sinergetically improved the students’ SPS. This research aims to analyze the application of the socio-scientific issue approach to improving students' critical thinking skills in science learning. The research method used is a systematic literature review. A systematic literature review was carried out on articles following the research objectives. Articles were obtained using https://sinta.kemdikbud.go.id/ and selected based on criteria from Sinta S1-S3 published in January 2016 – December 2022. A review of the articles found five articles that met the research criteria and assessed the quality of the study. The research results can conclude that applying the socio-scientific issue approach can improve students' critical thinking skills in science learning. The material taught to students using a socio-scientific issue approach includes environmental pollution, environmental change materials, biodiversity, and global warming. The socio-scientific issue approach can be applied to various learning models, such as problem-based learning, group investigation, and problem-solving.","PeriodicalId":31522,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan IPA","volume":" 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140383933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method employed a quasi-experimental design involving 12th-grade students at SMAN 2 Yogyakarta. The research design employed is pretest-posttest, nonequivalent multiple-group design. Subject selection was conducted through purposive sampling, resulting in experimental and control classes. The research subjects were from classes 12 MIPA 4 and 12 MIPA 5. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations of scientific attitudes. Observations during the learning process were conducted by three observers. The results of the study showed an improvement in the understanding of physics concepts and the development of scientific attitudes in the experimental group, with an average score of 89.36. The improvement in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group. These findings indicate that virtual laboratories based on discovery learning are effective in enhancing students' scientific attitudes. This finding highlights the potential of virtual laboratories in fostering scientific attitudes and assisting students in understanding modern physics, thereby stimulating their interest in the subject. The positive implications for physics education indicate that this approach can address students' challenges in learning physics conventionally.","PeriodicalId":31522,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan IPA","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140385137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Another variable analyzed was the use of books and demonstrations in the form of PowerPoint presentations. Apart from that, in this research two moderator variables will also be used, namely devices and illustrations in PowerPoint. The tools used by teachers are expected to be able to increase the influence of book use on student performance and also improve relationships between leadership. The illustrative moderator variable turned out to increase the effect of using PowerPoint on student performance. In this research it is proven that AI can improve the leadership of teachers, and teacher leadership will improve student performance. Leadership will also have a stronger influence on performance if teachers use the right devices, whether notebooks, tablets or cellphones. Apart from that, the use of presentations created with PowerPoint will also improve student performance. When accompanied by illustrations (especially transitions and animations). Therefore, teachers must be able to utilize AI and its supporting applications.","PeriodicalId":31522,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan IPA","volume":"111 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140381717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
