In the literature framework, the existing problems are not limited to the women’s involvement in the creation, criticism, and as readers only. However, the growth of the creation of female poets has opposed to men's superiority towards women. The role of gender and institution of marriage, which have been the symbol of hegemonic masculinity, has become a deconstruction and parody. The aim of this study is to dismantle the gender dictions in the Dorothea’s poem, which reflect the hegemonic masculinity. The object of this research is the poetry collections entitiled ‘Nikah Ilalang’ by Dorothea Rosa Herliany. Technique of data collection used was notetaking. In analyzing the data, Dorothea's poetries are studied by using heuristic and hermeneutic techniques. In using hermeneutic technique, this study used semiotic approach and potential/actual hypogram in order to find a proper model as matrix actualization.","PeriodicalId":31482,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Poetika","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42797123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This “Chinese Problem” was discussed by a variety of speakers and writers, including several authors of literary works. In Di Kaki Bukit Cibalak (1977), Ahmad Tohari presents two ethnic Chinese characters, Nyonya Wibawa and Mulyani, the first as the employer and the second as the lover of the main character, Pambudi. By applying Goldmann’s theory of genetic structuralism, we show that through his depiction of the physical and behavioural aspects of the characters, Tohari promotes an assimilationist approach as the only possible solution to the Chinese problem (if it can be solved): the dichotomies between ethnic Chinese and Native Indonesians must be erased. Hanauzumi's novel implies that a bitter and tragic past can not be forgotten just by Gin. And furthermore, there is a chance redemption done by Gin by striving to realize his goal of reaching the doctor's profession as a sense of solidarity among fellow women. The purpose of this study is to present memory and forgiveness as a tool used by Gin to form the discourse of truth, thus giving him the power to fight for justice for women's rights, rights for himself and for other women. In Juliet Marillier’s Wildwood Dancing , the main female character Jena is transformed from the passive and obedient Twelfth/Youngest Princess of Grimm’s The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes into a brave and sensible figure. She challenges the oppression of patriarchal rules by taking control of her household in her father’s absence, securing her four sisters’ welfare, and keeping secret of their nocturnal dancing trips in the Other Kingdom despite being threatened by her domineering male cousin. In this way, Gerard Genette’s Hypertextuality strives to investigate the underlying patterns manifested in both literary works by applying the Re-vision element. Through it, Jena’s and the Twelfth/Youngest Princess’ sensibility trait and the socio-cultural settings surrounding them are highlighted in order to determine the importance of the overall hypertextuality process that takes place between the two. Later, Jena emerges as the more influential heroine than her predecessor character because she does not stop struggling to be regarded as an independent young woman who can always give advice and make decisions for her family affairs sensibly. Also, it is eventually proven that sensibility is indeed a strong weapon to be possessed by women in order to empower themselves against the conventions of a patriarchal world.","PeriodicalId":31482,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Poetika","volume":"5 1","pages":"109-122"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42180514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk membongkar struktur transmisi memori traumatis Dmetri Kakmi dalam novel Mother Land serta melihat konstruksi gender terhadap kesan-kesan traumatis yang muncul di dalam karya tersebut. Peneliti menggunakan teori postmemory yang dicetuskan oleh Marianne Hirsch untuk melihat 1) Bagaimana transmisi memori dan peran gender dalam penulisan novel Mother Land karya Dmetri Kakmi; dan 2) Bagaimana peran gender di dalam novel tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini yakni: 1) novel ini dibentuk oleh dua transmisi, yaitu transmisi familial dari keluarga sehingga hal itu memunculkan imajinasi, serta transmisi afiliatif. Dalam proses transmisi, gender memainkan peran kepada siapa dan narasi apa yang diceritakan kepada post-generation ; 2) Peran gender di dalam novel terlihat dari infantilized yang dilakukan terhadap kaum Yunani dan Hyper-masculinized yang dilakukan terhadap kaum Turki sebagai icon of destruction . Kata Kunci : postmemo ry , trauma, transmisi, identifikasi, gender. Abstract This research is a study about the creative process of a postmemory work in the memory transmitting process from the first generation to the next generation and the important role of gender in the transmission process, and the perspective of gender in postmemory’s work. The purpose of this research is to expose Dmetri Kakmi's traumatic memory transmission structure in his novel \"M other land\" and to take a look at genderization in traumatic impressions that emerged in his work. The researcher used Postmemory theory initiated by Marianne Hirsch to perceive 1) the transmission memory and the role of gender in Dmetri Kakmi's \"M other land\" novel;  and 2) the genderization process in that novel, and the results of this research: 1) Mother Land the novel is formed by two transmissions, familial transmission from the writer's family that led the writer to having an imagination of his late grandfather, and affiliative transmission. In the transmission process,  gender plays a key role in choosing who and what narration to be told to post-generation ; 2) The gender roles in the \"M other land\" novel can be found from such varied sources such as infantilized to the Greeks, and hyper-masculinized to the Turks as icon of destruction. In this case, Hunger Games Trilogy (2008-2010), Maze Runner Trilogy (2009-2011), Divergent Trilogy (2011-2013) are the main object to see how far the text of dystopian sf novels address issues and discourses about the crisis within. Dystopian sf novels that are the counter-discourse of utopian sf novels has no longer present the utopian elements of the future, but, contrastly present the worst possibilities of the future. It appears that the dystopian sf writers present narratives about crisis, poverty, darkness, and pessimism in their novels. It even reads as a form of criticism and warning that the writers are trying to convey to the reader through fictional texts. In the end, the conditions of crisis seen in the text of these dystopian sf novels open its relationship with the world's history outside the text. This study found that astral projection is a capability possessed by a person to leave physical body and explore an astral world or the spirit world. Astral projection is a death and dying concept that is presented as one of the postmodern fictional strategies known as superimposition. This strategy illustrates that there are two worlds that accumulate and co-exist with each other. Its presence is a way of deconstructing thoughts about something that is considered uncanny and unusual as well as a counterpart of totality that puts the ontological side of the existence of something. It is said by McHale (1987) that it is a sister-genre of postmodern fiction. Science fiction explores ontological issues in order to build a good story while postmodern fiction simply presents the problem without having to build a story. Furthermore, both genres can adopt each other's strategies. Meanwhile, postmodern fictional relations and fantasy fiction are the same, borrowing strategies for exploring ontological issues.","PeriodicalId":31482,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Poetika","volume":"5 1","pages":"51-57"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44926506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
