The oscillator is negative based and the CMOS cross-coupled pair used in the design provides the negative resistance to sustain the oscillations. The tuning range is about 43% with 2.4GHz as the center frequency. The phase noise at an offset of 1MHz is 135.6dBc/Hz. The design consumes 6.17mW power from a supply voltage of 3.3V. The supply sensitivity of the design is 2.5% for 5% variation in the supply voltage.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123097417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system considered in this work consists of clustered base stations which systematize downlink transmission. Implementation of Block Diagonalization is carried outxwithinxthe clusterxfor the removal of interference within the users. The achievable ratexperxuser has a probability distributions which superlatively matches with a Gamma distribution. This similarity in distributions provides approximated characteristics in terms of mean and variance which further can prove to be a useful tool to draft the base station clusters.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127467732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As precision increases, Flash ADC requires large number of comparators compared to other ADCs. Hence, the increase in chip area, power consumption and cost of Flash converters makes trade off for many applications. So, the low power Flash ADC is aimed to be designed with less number of low power consumption comparators. The proposed Flash ADC of 4 bit resolution uses only four low power consumption comparators. The reference voltages from the diode connected transistorvoltage divider network is selected through the multiplexers and fed to the comparators. The proposed CMOS Flash ADC is implemented using Mentor Graphics EDA tool with MOS model library-TSMC 0.18um parameters.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124860337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed delay sensitive scheduling algorithm considers the nature of the data. The delay incurred due to scheduling overhead is analyzed in order to address unfair treatment of users. The motivation behind this work is to maximize average time channel utilization. The Rated Queue effectively characterizes the unsaturated traffic condition. In addition, different types of services are addressed to quantify Quality of Service to address different delay constraints. This model explores the time and channel utilization to guarantee and enhance the network performance.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125046226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed alternative method produces initial segmentation points using chain code assignment. To compute the deviation of an initial segmentation points/pseudo high curvature points the proposed methods use the value of arc length between its adjacent pseudo high curvature points as a departure measure. And the technique removes pseudo high curvature point with minimal deviation until the polygon preserves the self-tracing portion. The experimental result reveals that the proposed method produce output curve with self-tracing portion with less approximation error.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125116030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of multiple wireless technologies, the vehicles are able to talk with road side units (RSU) and also with other neighboring vehicles. In this scenario, if a vehicle moves from one coverage area which is supported by one network to other coverage area then the ongoing communication should be carried over, which is possible with the help of vertical handover (VHO) techniques. In this paper, a new method for handover necessity estimation is done using traveling time calculation, and threshold time prediction. The main objective is to increase the connectivity time by reducing the handover failure rate and unnecessary handover rate. The paper support the results with a simulation study and also compared with conventional methods.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125947423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our previous work, we had established that combining the traditional clustering algorithms with a meta-heuristic like Firefly Algorithm improves the stability of the output as well as the speed of convergence. In this paper, we have replaced the Euclidean distance formula with kernels. We have combined Intuitionistic Fuzzy C-Means (IFCM) with Firefly algorithm and replaced Euclidean distance with Gaussian, Hyper tangent and Radial Basis Function Kernels. The intuition behind using Kernels instead of Euclidean or Manhattan distance is explained in this paper. In order to prove that the kernel based counter part of IFCM performs better than its corresponding Euclidean distance based algorithm, we have used standard performance indices such as DB index and Dunn index.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125352110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The primary function of the hand is prehension which involves holding and manipulation of objects. There are various ways of replacing the flexion functioning of the hand which includes prostheses, orthotics and robotics. Prostheses tend to be minimally invasive and this work explores the possibility of replacing the malfunctioning of the hand's gripping function. A Micro Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) based type tri-axis accelerometer can sense movement from anterior surface of the hand using acceleration in the different axes. A microcontroller is used to convert the acceleration from sensor and calculate the tilt angle and the angle is then used to control a prosthetic hand gripper. Depending on the set threshold angle, the prosthetic arm performs the grasping and ungrasping function.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115210570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In VLSI domain, layout design is quite a lengthy process. Spiral inductor being one of the crucial components in RFIC design needs to depict high performance and design flexibility. Implementation of parameterized cells (PCells) for modeling on-chip spiral inductors overcomes this issue. PCells design proves quite flexible and less time consuming compared to classical design approach of inductor. In this paper, an efficient PCell design technique for automatic layout generation is presented for on chip spiral inductor using Cadence SKILL scripts. To support the concept defined, PCell design for automatic layout generation of square, hexagonal and octagonal spiral inductor are designed using SKILL script in Virtuoso. The spiral inductor characteristics are further validated through EM simulations using ADS Momentum.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122198462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of different high-k materials, silicon film thickness are investigated. The device characteristics are compared with conventional asymmetric structure with and without pocket doping. The proposed device architecture improves the bandband tunneling with superior drain current values. The simulation results shows an impressive subthreshold slope (SS), high Ion and high transconductance values. The simulations are done and results are compared among common TFET structures. The results of this simulations can give insights for implementation in future ULSI circuits.","PeriodicalId":314717,"journal":{"name":"2017 International conference on Microelectronic Devices, Circuits and Systems (ICMDCS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129603080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
