This paper presents a hybrid signal processing and artificial intelligence based approach for the detection of Dual-tone Multifrequency (DTMF) tones under the influence of White Gaussian Noise (WGN) and frequency variation. Key innovations include the use of a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) bandpass filter for reduction of noise from DTMF input samples, and Support Vector Machines (SVM) for intelligent classification of the detected DTMF carrier frequencies. The proposed hybrid DTMF detector scheme is based on power spectrum analysis by means of the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). The Goertzel’s Algorithm is used to estimate the seven fundamental DTMF carrier frequencies. The tone detection scheme employs decision logic to detect valid DTMF tones from low and high DTMF frequency groups. Comparison of this hybrid DTMF tone detection model with existing DTMF detection techniques proves the merits of this proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131625632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Manual hand drawn selection method is too cumbersome while using a fully automated method means we will lose flexibility and control over the ROI selection process. This means the ROI selection may not be as accurate as we would like it to be. Therefore, this paper proposes a semi-automated tool in ROI selection which is more efficient than hand drawn method while still maintaining a significant amount of human control compared to a fully automated method. This tool has been tested on a number of samples and we found that it is intuitive and simple to use but still able to give accurate ROI selection.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127663318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is apparent that the field of CMC or CSCL lacks established methodologies to analyze it. This paper discusses the problem overview and offers a solution concept to integrate between Content Analysis (CA) and Social Network Analysis (SNA). This approach is proposed as a potential method to analyze not only the communication transcripts but also the communication structures of interaction during discussion. It filters unrelated messages from the discussion content, before being analyzed by SNA. A more reliable and meaningful result is expected from this approach.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128067966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its purpose is helping students in their outdoor activities in university environment. Its main aim is developing new university wireless organizer which is tackling existing feature shortages. First step of developing university wireless organizer is finding out of students requirements. So this article is studying on studentspsila requirements in IT campus. Survey approach is determining student requirements in their university life and then proposing a wireless organizer which has some features to satisfy studentspsila requirements. Such inefficiencies in web projects cost losses in terms of money and time thus negatively impacting on business growth. Web development projects have an array of unique risks different from those found in traditional software development projects. Many failures associated with web projects are the consequences of poor awareness of the risks involved and the weak management of these risks. Although many approaches have been proposed to overcome this shortcoming, there is still a huge gap between these approaches and actual industry needs. This research aims to improve risk management through the design of a risk identification architecture pattern based on Bayesian network to help avoid risks in the web project, and improve the chances of managing critical risks beforehand. The paper presents a case study of the practical applications of the proposed model in an actual web project.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131773592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It will further report on the implementation of the framework through the development of a prototype of a tool to customize an educational game, using an evolutionary prototyping method. The prototype was developed as a final year project by a group of undergraduates of the Faculty of Information Technology, Multimedia University, Malaysia. In view of the current growth of the use of games in learning, the need for such tools will become more predominate. For this reason some techniques have been developed for predicting user’s future requests. Data manning algorithms can be applied to many prediction problems. We can exploit Web Usage Mining for Knowledge extracting based on user behavior during the web navigation. The WUM applies data mining techniques for extracting knowledge from user log files in the particular web server. The WUM can model user behavior and, therefore, to forecast their future movements by mining user navigation patterns. To provide online prediction efficiently, we advance architecture for online predicting in web usage mining system by proposing novel model based on Longest Common Subsequence algorithm for classifying user navigation patterns. The prediction of users’ future movements by this manner can improve accuracy of recommendations.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"317 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133817010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
