It provides the optimal option in a housing project, according to specific search parameters by region, commune, orientation, materiality, among others options. At the same time, it is possible to download the technical characteristics of the selected window instantly. According to results obtained on the simulation, S2 showed better energy efficiency performance in the three cities studied (Antofagasta, Santiago and Concepcion). Mainly the transmittance value was slightly smaller than S1 solutions. In general, windows with lower thermal transmission (U) achieve better energy efficiency in homes. However, the selection of optimal windows for a project should always be based on the geographical area, the orientation of the facade or wall, the surface of the light, or the visibility to be projected (dimensions), and the thermal transmittance values (U).","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48862740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The renewable energy plays an essential role in the achievement of sustainable development, since it is relatively cleaner comparing with fossil fuels. The renewable energy has the advantages that it has fewer negative impacts on the environment than fossil fuels, so it is beneficial in improving the environment, increasing the diversity of fuels, ensuring stable energy supply, and promoting regional economic development. To improve the sustainability and development of renewable energy, countries worldwide set up goals and implemented relative regulations and policies. This keynote paper firstly introduced sustainable development; subsequently, summarized the roles of renewable energy on sustainable development; then, had an overview of the achievements on sustainable development and renewable energy; after this, investigated the barriers and in sighted; and concluded this paper. The results reveal that there is still a far way to go before all Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) will be finally achieved although many progresses of sustainability and renewable energy development in technological, economic, environmental and social aspects have been made during the past 20 years with the efforts of all countries.","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49346621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their performance has also a significant impacts on the power interruptions at various voltage levels and the consequent customer interruption costs. This paper will discuss the estimated remaining lifetime of power transformers in the voltages subpopulations: 500kV, 220 kV, 132 kV, 66kV and 33 kV of the Egyptian grid as time between failures (TBFs) will be determined and then determine the best fit probability distribution using MATLAB program for repair time, customer interruption costs (CIC) and TBFs, this is performed in order to estimate remaining lifetime of the transformers, from which the best fit probability distribution will be used in this case study which is Weibull distribution. Finally availability of the transformers per different voltage populations is calculated and determined. Different subassemblies (failures) are also undergo the same process of determining TBFs and estimating remaining lifetime. The results will be helpful in the manufacturing process of the transformers and enhancing the maintenance schedule.","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44707435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On that position, I had the possibility to join many sessions of the Conference and to follow also the process of negotiations for the text of the Final Declaration of the Conference. Passing from one session to another, there were several aspects that were confusing me.  One of them was a declaration of the representative of a large company from Brazil, mentioning that his country has a huge stockpile of biomass and if it shall be used as bioenergy resource, it is plenty to assure the welfare of that country. The confusion for me was if a Global Ecosystem as the Amazonian Forest, could be considered an asset to be exploited at the discretion of some local groups of interest. It is well known, that the complexity of the factors that are interlinked with the biomass in different ecosystems it is not yet very clear even for small ecosystems. The current attempts to develop detailed Multiscale and Multiphysics models for parts of the deltas of Mississippi River in the US or Danube Delta in Europe are in some initial stages and there will be needed decades of scientific research for developing comprehensive models for global macro-ecosystems like the Nile or the Amazonian.  Unfortunately, at present, the quotas for exploiting resources as forest wood or reed in wetlands or Deltas in many parts of the World are established without any scientific background. But many published reports reveled that even the simple question: “what is the percentage of straw that is yielded from a hectare of wheat that may be used for energy or industrial purpose?” has the answer “depends on many factors” . With interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approaches, reliable tools and methods may be developed to strengthen the methodologies as “ecosystem services” and this movement has to be further multiplied in order to become a norm.  As an example, in the Black Sea Region we have developed an Alliance of Space research centers to aggregate satellite data with advanced computing codes in order to evaluate the potential of exploitation of renewable energy resources as biomass, solar, wind or water currents and similar initiatives are also in many other regions of the World.  The most important aspect that we learn, is that renewable energy sources have no borders a","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68576125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the study evidence a significant solar potential that provides 4659kWh/yr. However, there is an energy deficit in the period when the load energy is higher than the solar generation. As a result, the fuel cell integration solves the irregularities of solar availability, providing 4567kWh/year load demand and 477827kWh/year of energy delivered to the grid. According to the obtained results, the transportation system was feasible from the solar radiation, energy consumption, geographic zone, type of PV farm and other sources. Notably, the studied region has a solar potential to supply 10% of the total domestic cars existing in Santiago, providing a total energy of 253.723 GWh/yr. Furthermore, based on the study factors, the design of the system consists of approximately 428,590 PV modules and an average power generation of 31.89 W/hour for one single module. Finally, the configuration of a solar charging facility allows applying a new method of energy supply to electric cars that improves the environmental conditions of the city and encourages sustainable development in the transport sector.","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49500523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This future project should be designed for electric power plants and other sectors with energy. It is not worthy that up today most of the existing power plants in Morocco are depending on coal in their electricity production. This is in contrast with the recent government environmental commitments. The aim of this article is to develop a research analysis by introducing the main key aspects of choosing a site location, proposing an optimum routing for pipelines given factual criterions based on mathematic algorithms, and finally concluding with financial estimation to be performed.","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48076208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Coupled inductor (tapped-inductor) circuits can achieve this where the whole inductor carries current during one switch state but only part of the inductor carries current during the second switch state. The switch state change results in excessive switch voltages due coupling leakage. To protect the switching device, a novel voltage clamp is presented which improves the overall efficiency of the switching circuit and recovers otherwise wasted energy. It requires no closed-loop control. For higher power levels, an asymmetric half-bridge coupled-inductor buck converter circuit, which offers switch protection without a snubber, is presented. The circuit is shown to offer reduced switching losses despite having two switching components in the high-voltage forward conduction path.","PeriodicalId":31382,"journal":{"name":"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47341175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
