The sensors themselves can range from small passive microsensors to larger scale, controllable weather-sensing platforms. Presently, there are many research work for sensor networks. In our previous work, we implemented a simulation system for sensor networks and simulated the proposed system with reactive and preactive protocols. In this work, we want to investigate how the sensor network performs in case of using OLSR protocol and compare the simulation results with AODV protocol. The simulation results have shown that the consumed energy for OLSR protocol is better than AODV protocol. Also, the goodput for the case of using OLSR does not change too much compared with the case using AODV, but the goodput is not good when the number of nodes is increased.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132480518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adding views to locations further augments users’ perception of spaces. This work creates a new type of visual map suitable for access on mobile platform. It can provide views at pervasive locations in an area. We propose a systematic approach to establish scene maps of an urban area with different types of panoramic images aligned with geospatial spaces in display. We also design comprehensive visual indexes for virtual travel and real guidance of the area on wireless devices. The extended fields of view enhance the perception of spaces on small mobile devices. Densely embedded indexes allow free transitions and exploration of the area. The resulting scene map will be an ideal digest to access spatial and dynamic information in urban environments.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123180832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

No wired base station or infrastructure is supported, and each host communicates via radio packets. Each host must act as a router, since routes are mostly multi-hop, due to the limited power transmission set by government agencies, (e.g. the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), which is 1 Watt in Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. The natures of wireless mobile ad hoc networks depend on batteries or other fatiguing means for their energy. A limited energy capacity may be the most significant performance constraint. Therefore, radio resource and power management is an important issue of any wireless network. In this paper, a design for traffic light system employing ad hoc networks is proposed. The traffic light system runs automatically based on signals sent through a multi-hop ad hoc network of ‘n’ number of nodes utilizing the Token Ring protocol, which is efficient for this application from the energy prospective. The experiment consists of a graphical user interface that simulates the traffic lights and laptops (which have wireless network adapters) are used to run the graphical user interface and are responsible for setting up the ad hoc network between them. The traffic light system has been implemented utilizing A Mesh Driver (which allows for more than one wireless device to be connected simultaneously) and Java-based client-server programs.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"234 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122625148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In guarantee of quality in industrial products, they are not only important that designs, parts and materials but also production process itself. In assembly process, this means that production works is done according with accurate procedure is important. Generally, most assemble processes have steps to confirm results and working quality of former steps. However, there are some cases that it is impossible to confirm quality of former step’s work. For example, in a work to attach and fix a part using some screws, there is certain order to screw some screws to guarantee accuracy to attach the part. However, if the order to screw is not obeyed, this violation cannot be detected by appearance since the screws are enough screws, and the part is fixed. Therefore, we have been developing a worker’s motion trace system by using terrestrial magnetism sensors and acceleration sensors to confirm whether the worker’s motion accords correct assembly procedure. Up to now, our system trace system cannot judge whether worker’s motion is correct or not in 100% accuracy. So we tired to improve a method to judge the worker’s motion. In this paper, we describe this new method based on LOF, and its evaluation.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126945259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, information systems are being shifted from the traditional client-server model to the peer-to-peer (P2P) model. The P2P systems are composed of peer processes (peers). They are scalable and fully distributed without centralized coordinators. It is getting more significant to discuss how to reduce the total energy consumption of computers in information systems in addition to developing algorithms to minimize the computation time and memory size. Low-energy CPUs and storage devices like SSD are now being developed at architecture level. In this paper, we do not discuss the hardware specification of each computer. We discuss how to reduce the total energy consumption of multiple peer computers to perform types of programs on P2P overlay networks at macro level. We propose models for realizing energy-efficient computation in P2P systems. We also discuss an allocation algorithm of a process to a peer computer so that the deadline constraint is satisfied and the total energy consumption is reduced.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124567518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is usually used for administering large storage, although traditional RAIDs have only one or two fault tolerances, which is not sufficient for constructing large storage. Although hierarchical RAID (HiRAID) has three fault tolerances, efficiency in capacity is low. In the previous work, we proposed N-ary RAID, which is flat (not hierarchical) RAID with multiple parities based on a block unit. N-ary RAID is a 3 fault tolerant RAID. In this paper, we propose N-ary RAID MP, which is combined N-ary RAID to RAID MP (Multiple Parity). It drastically increases the reliability of RAID based storage.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133678670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method generates new motions by combining some primitive motions, which are obtained by dividing already existing motions. This combining process is performed by IEC based on GA and then combined motions are generated according to the user preference. There is a problem that the variation of generated motions is very small if the number of already existing motions is too small. To compensate this problem, the authors also employ motion signal processing technique. Generated motions by combining primitive motions are modified through multi-level decomposition and composition of discrete wavelettransform. When applying the composition process, each level wavelet coefficients are modified by their gain parameter which the user chooses through IEC and then motions modified by the user preference are generated. In this way, combinational use of IEC based on GA and motion signal processing technique allows the user to generate his/her required motions easily and intuitively.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127503004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Including crossover operation, mutation operation and selection operation, all the executions of GA rely on a randomly search procedure to seek the area of possible solutions. But, bad convergence and prematurity phenomenon of GA are produced by random sequences generation. They have become the obstacle for GA’s further application. To improve the convergence of genetic algorithm (GA) for web service selection with global Quality-of-Service (QoS) constraints, chaos theory is introduced into the genetic algorithm with the relation matrix coding scheme. These chaotic laws are all based on the relation matrix coding scheme. During crossover and mutation process phases, chaotic time series are adopted instead of random ones. The effect of chaotic sequences and random ones is compared during several numerical tests. And, the performance of GA using chaotic time series and random ones is investigated. The simulation results on web service selection with global QoS constraints have shown that the proposed strategy based on chaotic sequences can enhance GA’s convergence capability. The fitness is also improved after the chaotic approaches are introduced.","PeriodicalId":312802,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121230853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
