There are plants used to make the food, namely: Sikkam wood, grated coconut, galangal, ginger, lemongrass, shallots, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, red chilies. Sikkam also has benefits as herbal medicines. Seikkam is also a tree that has a height of 40m, a trunk diameter of 95-150cm, the trunk is straight, usually hard and strong. The leaves are green in color, 4-8 inches long and 7-22 mm thick, the leaf shape is oval, three-lobed and tapers to the tip of the leaf. The location of the leaves is spiral/circular, has long petioles (3-8 inches) edges serrated to finely serrated, leaf pinnate, glossy upper side. The fruit does not break down, is round, gummy, 1.2-1.5 cm in diameter, bluish-black when ripe, with 1-2 seeds in each chamber, oval brown seeds, 5 mm long. Environmental literacy is a conscious attitude to pay attention and maintain the environment so that it was always maintained, sustainable, and maintained in balance. The conscious attitude in question was a sensitive attitude towards the environment and knowing the problems that occured. Someone who has knowledge about the environment, is not only limited to theory, but also able to be responsive and agile in overcoming various problems that occur in the surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze the effect of Problem Based Learning on environmental literacy in class X students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera and to analyze the increase in environmental literacy of class X students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera with the application of Problem Based Learning. This type of research is quantitative research using quasi-experiments (Quasi Experiments). The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera, Gam Ici street, Central Ibu district. The population used in this study were students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera, with samples from class X C and class X D. The data and data sources in this study were pretest and posttest questions, teacher and student observation sheets, and environmental care attitude questionnaires. Data collection techniques in research using observation and tests. The method used in this study is using descriptive qualitative method, data collection techniques through free interviews purposive sampling technique. Respondents in this study consisted of village heads who represented the community and had knowledge of medicinal plants, a healer as a person who often treated sick people and one patient who shared his experiences when using medicinal plants to treat his illness. The research method above can be explained as follows: (1) Interviews were conducted with the people of Tabangame Village to find out the types of plants, their processing and use as traditional medicine, (2) The local name, its characteristics, the parts used, how to use it and how it is used are recorded, (3) Documentation of each plant used by the community as a treatment. There are four types of plants used for traditional medicine, namely jatropha or balacai (Jatropha curcas L) can treat shortness of breath, poison and internal medicine, betel nut or siri (Piper betle) can treat hives , Matoa or motoa (Pometia Pinnata) can treat ulcers and itching and cashew or yakis fruit (Anacardium occidentale) can treat cough. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which was carried out for 2 cycles. The subjects studied were 16 grade IV students at SDN 2 Pinceppute, consisting of 9 male students and 7 female students. Data collection was carried out using a student learning achievement test instrument. Data analysis used is descriptive data analysis. The results of the study show that educational games through puzzle media can improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SDN 2 Pinceppute, Palopo City. This can be seen from the indicators of research success, where ≥ 75% of students have achieved the KKM score (70). In cycle I, the number of students who had completed were 8 students (50%) and those who had not completed were 8 students (50%). Cycle II increased to 13 students (81.25%) and 3 students (18.75%) did not complete. It can be concluded that student learning outcomes have increased by 31.25%. The research was conducted in March 24 until May 20, 2016. The method used Quasi Eksperimental, design Pretest – Posttest Contol Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA (total 108 siswa), through sampling by using Cluster Random Sampling. The instrument used essay test as much as 10 question integrated with six indicator critical thinking ability (formulate problems, argues, make deductions, induction, evaluating, and take decisions and actions). The result showed that N-gain average critical thinking ability in experiment class was ( = 32,36) it was higher than control class ( = 18,97). The hypotesis test with t test (sig 1%) eamed value thit (7,08) and ttable (2,38), because thit >ttable then H0 rejected. This study aims to determine the type and community structure of seagrass beds based on the species diversity index, dominance index, and seagrass evenness index in the waters of Gurabosa Island, West Halmahera Regency. The research method uses the quadrant transect method with a size of 0.5 x 0.5 m. The results showed that the composition of the seagrass found consisted of 5 species of seagrass namely Enhalus acoroides, Halophyla ovalis, Thalassia hempricii, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodim isoetifolium. The species diversity index (H') is included in the low species diversity criteria because the value of H' ˂ 1. The dominance index is also included in the low dominance criteria or no seagrass species dominate between stations. The evenness index of seagrass in the waters of Gurabosa Island is included in the low criteria. The guided inquiry learning model assisted by video media is an alternative in increasing students' conceptual understanding of mushrooms (fungi). The type in this study used a Quasi Experiment with a Non-equivalent control group design research design. The population in this study were students of Class X SMA Negeri 5 Palopo. The group that was used as a sample was class XMia1 as the experimental class and class XMia2 as the control class. The instrument in this study used a learning achievement test. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential analysis. Inferential analysis using normality test, homogeneity, and hypothesis test. The results showed that the average pretest score for the experimental class was 40.42, while the posttest average score for the experimental class was 84.00. The average value of the control class pretest was 41.52, while the posttest average value of the control class was 80.39. Salah satu bakteri yang dapat tumbuh dikomoditas tersebut yakni Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) yang berguna untuk kesehatan pencernaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan isolat BAL yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri tinggi terhadap Shigella dysenteriae dari fermentasi buah kakao merah (Theobroma cacao L. varietas criollo). Skrining antibakteri terhadap S. dysenteriae dilakukan dengan metode difusi cakram dan BAL yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi selanjutnya dilakukan identifikasi molekular dengan teknik Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Sepasang primer 27F dan 1492R digunakan untuk amplifikasi gen 16S rRNA BAL dan dilanjutkan dengan sekuensing. Identifikasi hasil sekuensing dilakukan dengan penyejajaran data pada program BLAST. Hasil Penelitian menemukan isolat KAT372 merupakan isolat yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi dari 6 isolat yang ditemukan pada fermentasi buah kakao merah. Isolat ini memiliki kemiripan 99% terhadap Lactobacillus fabifermentans strain DSM 21115. Isolat BAL dari fermentasi buah kakao merah dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber antibakteri alami terhadap S. dysenteriae.AbstractCacao is one of Indonesia's plantation commodities and is a natural resource that has an important role as a habitat for the growth and development of various good microorganisms. One of them is Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB), which is good bacteria for digestive health. This study aims to obtain LAB isolates that have high antibacterial activity against Shigella dysenteriae from fermented red cacao fruit (Theobroma cacao L. criollo variety). Antibacterial screening against Shigella dysenteriae was carried out using the disc diffusion method and LAB which had the highest antibacterial activity followed by molecular identification with the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique. A pair of 27F and 1492R primers were used for amplification of the 16S rRNA BAL gene and continued with sequencing. The identification of sequencing results was carried out by aligning the data in the BLAST program. The results found that KAT372 isolate was the isolate that had the highest antibacterial activity of the 6 isolates found in the fermentation of red cacao fruit. This isolate has 99% similarity to Lactobacillus fabifermentans strain DSM 21115. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tipologi vegetasi mangrove di area konservasi Pulau Pahawang Provinsi Lampung. Hal tersebut perlu diketahui untuk menggali potensi dan pengelolaan area konservasi yang benar sesuai dengan kondisi alami vegetasi mangrove. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei jalur rute 50 m berdasarkan sampel random. Setelah menentukan plot, maka didapatkan data keanekaragaman hayati berupa data nama spesies dan familia. Selanjutnya, dikoleksi data tentang diameter batang, tinggi pohon, jumlah individu, kondisi vegetasi, dan data ligkungan. Data yang didapatkan berupa data keanekaragaman, dominansi relatif, dan data ukuran vegetasi. Area konservasi di Pulau Pahawang memiliki beberapa jenis mangrove, di antaranya Rizophora apiculata, Rizophora mucronata, Rizophora stylosa, Soneratia alba, dan Heritiera littoralis. Data menunjukkan bahwa R. stylosa mendominasi area dengan 18% penutupan serta indeks nilai penting 94,45% pada plot 10 x 10 m.AbstractPahawang Island has a mangrove area about 30 ha, with the devided functions as a utilization area and conservation area. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of mangrove vegetation in the Pahawang Island conservation area. This research for mapping potential and proper management of the conservation area in accordance with the natural conditions of the mangrove vegetation. The research method used is the survey method of the 50 m route based on a random sample. After determining the plot, biodiversity data were obtained in the form of stem diameter, tree height, number of individuals, vegetation conditions, and environmental data. The data obtained are in the form of data on diversity, density, and importance. The conservation area on Pahawang Island has several types of mangroves, including Rizophora apiculata, Rizophora mucronata, Rizophora stylosa, Soneratia alba, and Heritiera littoralis. This study aimed to investigate callus development and observe bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities in explants and callus. The cotyledon and hypocotyl from the sprouts were induced to form callus on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with NAA 2.5 mg/L combined with kinetin 0.5 mg/L and 2,4 D 1 mg/L. All parts of seedling and callus were analyzed for their bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity using Spectrophotometer UV-Vis, whereas the other bioactive compounds were identified by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry. This research applied a Completely Randomized Design with sample sources of tomato sprout and callus from cotyledon and hypocotyl, with 3 replicates. The result showed that friable callus was able to be developed from both explants through the addition of NAA-Kin to MS medium. The three compounds were observed in callus and all explants. These calluses produced high antioxidant compounds from their pigments and ascorbic acid. The metabolites will be analyzed according to the perspective of their role. Major groups of compounds from GC-MS are dominated by hydrocarbons. Callus culture has a potential as the source of bioactive compounds.AbstrakSenyawa bioaktif pada tomat dapat diproduksi melalui kultur kalus, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perkembangan kalus dan mengobservasi jenis senyawa bioaktif serta aktivitas antioksidan pada eksplan dan kalus. Kotiledon dan hipokotil  dari kecambah diinduksi membentuk kalus di dalam medium MS dengan penambahan NAA 2,5 mg/L dan kinetin 0,5 mg/L, maupun 2,4 D 1 mg/L tunggal.  Semua bagian kecambah dan kalus dianalisis kandungan senyawa bioaktif dan aktivitas antioksidannya dengan menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Sementara itu, senyawa bioaktif lainnya diidentifikasi dengan menggunakan Kromatografi Gas-Spektrofotometer Massa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan faktor sumber eksplan : kecambah, kalus yang berasal dari kotiledon maupun dari  hipokotil disertai 3 ulangan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kalus remah dapat berkembang dari semua bagian kecambah pada medium MS dengan penambahan NAA dan kinetin. Terdapat tiga senyawa yang diobservasi baik pada kalus maupun sumber eksplannya. Kalus tersebut menghasilkan senyawa antioksidan yang tinggi, berdasarkan dari kandungan pigmen dan dari asam askorbat. Metabolit-metabolit tersebut akan dianalisis lebih lanjut terhadap peranannya. Kelompok senyawa yang terbanyak dari hasil GC-MS didominasi oleh hidrokarbon.
