It is mentioned that objective evaluation of the music therapy is an important assignment, and some researchers have tried objective measurement based on physiological change. In this paper, the purpose is extraction of features that may be influenced by the music. We pay attention to EEG (electroencephalogram) as an objective and absolute scale. This paper proposes a method that extracts features of the EEG by the CDA (canonical discriminant analysis). From the result of the experiment, it is suggested that the CDA extracts the features influenced by the individual and the music type","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"815 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114051480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper discusses the BTO system for consumers which can decide the specifications easily. The present BTO systems for personal computers can customize a construction of the personal computers on the Web in compliance with users' requests. However, there are many expert consumers who feel that the BTO systems are not satisfy with their requests because components of PC prepared in the system are not many enough to choose. In contrast, beginner users do not have enough knowledge of making selection PC components; therefore it is very difficult for them to use the systems without mistaking. This research develops a BTO system built on the web that includes an information database on a huge number of various PC components and a function that can choose the combination of PC components automatically. As a result, expert users can make a PC of best performance capabilities. Moreover, beginner users become possible to select a construction of the PC easily and automatically only by providing the purpose and the budget","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114288362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Personal comfort and preference depend on a person, therefore the index is needed for the measurement. Then, we aim to understand personal comfort and preference by using the EEG as an index. The purpose of this study is to make the EEG map that makes visual the relationship between the EEG and external stimuli. We think that analyzing the distribution in the EEG map leads to the extraction of personal preference. First of all, we measure EEG patterns in 3 conditions; neutral which is the state relaxing without external stimuli, listening to favorite music, and smelling favorite fragrance. Then, we make the data matrix from the obtain data. Then, we extract features from the matrix by using neural networks. Finally, we make the EEG map to clarify the location of each EEG feature. The goal of this paper is to start a technical discussion in the robotics and mechatronics community to promote RT-middleware technology (robot systems designed by reusable building blocks) that results in efficient development of complicated robot systems. As a vehicle for the rapid development and diffusion of this RT-middleware technology, we've just started up an international standardization activity on robot technologies. In order to increase interoperability, compatibility and reusability between the various robotic common components, Object Managing Group (OMG) established Robotics Domain Task Force (Robotics-DTF) in December 2005. However, it is difficult to separate the robot from the human in time-domain or space-domain unlike factory automation, so a new concept for safety is needed. A new approach is to take notice of sensory and emotional feeling of human, and in this study \"pain\" has been focused, which is a typical unpleasant feeling when we contact objects. For engineering application of the pain, we have proposed an artificial superficial pain model that is represented by 2-mass system and demonstrated its application to robot avoidance motion. In the research, the pain caused by one kind of stimulus on a fingertip was evaluated. However, the characteristic of the pain is change depending on point and strength of stimulus.
