This paper proposes a unique tracing method for towel spreading which is a deformable object using two robot arms with sensors equipped grippers. Tracing in this paper context involves tracing the towel's edge, with the robot arm movement based on feedback from sensors. Development of special tools for deformable object manipulation is also considered to be important as well and must consider the properties of the deformable objects. This paper also proposes the development of a unique pair of grippers with gear at both the tips for fabric manipulation purposes. The gripper will allow more flexibility towards fabric manipulation. We propose a feature-point detection method which is the advanced retinal sampling method (ARSM), and a feature extraction method. As features for the gender and age estimation, facial shape, skin texture, hue and Gabor-feature are used. In order to show the effectiveness of proposed method, not only real-age database of facial image but also appearance-age database is employed. We also analyze the facial features characteristic to each age category and gender, and examine the difference feature of between the real-age and appearance-age in a facial area. By using the M-transform, an impulsive noise is converted into a small-amplitude random signal. We also proposed a new method to remove mixed impulsive noise and white noise simultaneously by applying the wavelet shrinkage to the M-transformed signal. The proposed method was very efficient to remove mixed impulsive and white noise. In this paper, we apply the noise reduction method to estimation of a power spectrum. Frequency transfer function of a linear system can be obtained by using the power spectrum of the input signal and the output signal. In the actual measurement of the frequency transfer function, we must use a periodogram instead of the cross-spectrum and the power spectrum of the input signal. Since the periodogram fluctuates greatly, the estimated frequency transfer function includes impulsive noises. In order to remove these noises, we use the proposed noise reduction method. From the result of the computer simulation, the signal was able to be presumed even when the sinusoidal noise existed","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124920713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is called full visualization where multiple OSs can run as is in the real host. Many current industries tend to use many virtual servers, which are servers running on VMs, consolidating many physical servers into a single or fewer real machines, resulting in higher resource utilization and smaller space consumption. This is called the server consolidation using VMs. Noticing this tendency we evaluate the virtualization overhead by measuring the performance of the transaction systems running database servers on VMs. Our research objectives are to evaluate the VM overhead and the virtualization overhead for heavy database servers running in VMs. We have found that the total CPU utilization in the two VMs running database servers increases to 2.5 times that in the native system with the same hardware resources, that is, requiring each server native CPU utilization be less than 40%","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131931047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is necessary to always observe the flow meters to detect and diagnose a fault, and to correct measurements. However, the fault of the flow meters (bias of the indicated value) can be repaired only in regular maintenance under present circumstances. If the flow meters with bias of the indicated value can be detected beforehand, a reasonable repair plan can be planned. Moreover, it comes to be able to correct the bias of the indicated value while plant operation. In this paper, a fault diagnosis method using historical database is developed about the flow meters set up in the plant where the state of the plant always changes by influence of load variation.
