In particular, in the examination of heart, non-surgical and non-intrusion ultrasonic diagnostics are generally utilized. However, the diagnosis depends on the doctor's subjectivity and experience. Furthermore, the doctor's burden increases because the contour of the heart is extracted by manual operations. Therefore, the development of a system that offers objective information in addition to a subjective judgment of the doctor by extracting and analyzing quantitative information from image analysis by computers is necessary. In this paper, the contour of the chamber wall is extracted by using an active contour model SNAKES as a preprocessing of the heart disease detection. The contour has been extracted by using SNAKES of the expansion model from the inner surface of heart","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129406576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well known that, by Bode's integral, sensitivity performance of the control systems is essentially limited and that the bandwidth of the open loop transfer function causes a kind of waterbed effects. The performance bounds are proved to be affected significantly by the poles location, the inertia moment, as well as the dominant characteristic frequency of the plant. Therefore it is claimed that a sensitivity specification provides useful designing conditions in terms of a plant, and that the plant with no unstable poles, a low inertia moment and a low characteristic frequency is generally desirable to meet it. The conditions are straightforwardly recited into ones for physical parameters such as mass, length and angle of the counterbalance. Effectiveness of the proposed approach for structure design of a counterbalance is illustrated by a standard controller synthesis and nonlinear numerical simulation","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115095540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We proposed a robot control system to deal with unknown object by combining an avoidance control system and preview control system. However, through the simulation studies, it became clear that the shape of redundant manipulator was not always kept to the best configuration on the view point of shape-changing ability. In this paper we propose a new criterion to evaluate the shape-change ability in the configuration space while tracking the hand-desired trajectory. Using this criterion we constructed real-time configuration control system with preview evaluation by imaginary manipulator in future time. Finally the proposed system was evaluated by several simulations on the point of real-time configuration, and the feasibility of total system was analyzed","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117303772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Paying attention to an optimum rotor speed of a single phase AC generator which can obtain maximum output power according to natural wind speed, the proposed method adjusts the rotor speed of the single phase AC generator to the optimum rotor speed. Since this adjustment is realised on line, so that, it can be adapted for variable-speed natural wind, a generated power brake links directly with the single phase AC generator, and the rotor speed of the single phase AC generator is adjusted by controlling a generated current that flows FET (field-effect transistor) device as the generated power brake. In order to reduce beat loss of FET device, PWM (pulse width modulation) control is introduced. Moreover, the experimental system for the proposed method is constituted and the experiment is performed. This paper proposes an agent-based model to clarify microscopic and macroscopic links between investor behaviors and price fluctuations in a financial market. The analysis presented in the paper focuses on the role that investors' overconfidence plays in the financial market. From the simulation study of the agent-based virtual market, we have found that (1) overconfident investors emerge in a bottom-up fashion in the market, and (2) these overconfident investors have the ability to contribute to the market, in which the trading prices are coincide with theoretical fundamental values","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"8 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127512567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

And the purpose of this study is the development of the health monitoring system. It supports the maintenance by independent component analysis (ICA) when there are some troubles in a bridge. The result of this study brings out the vibration behavior of the overall structure in a bridge. This vibration is caused by the external force such as heavy weight impact, wind pressure, and running vehicle. The character frequency was extracted from the analysis result using ICA and Spectral Analysis. When the vibration behavior caused by external force is very small in the bridge, ICA can detect the vibration response from the analysis result. Therefore, it is proved that the potential of detection was high by ICA","PeriodicalId":309260,"journal":{"name":"2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130565501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the ways to control the non-holonomic system is to use the holonomy that appears when the periodic input is given to the non-holonomic systems. In this study, the formation of underactuated satellite is controlled using the holonomy. The satellite used in this study is simplified 2-dimensional model with only thrusters to change positions and to change its attitude angle. Various pattern of periodic input gives the different holonomy to the system. By combining the patterns of the holonomy, the satellite is able to move around to designated places and attitude. These combinations of the holonomy can be applied to the system to correct the attitude or position errors. Until now, GNP has been applied to various problems and its effectiveness was clarified. Recently, the traffic in high-rise buildings becomes more and more diversified and complicated as buildings have more different functions and intelligence. To make an elevator system operate safely and efficiently for passengers, some automatic controls have been employed. Generally, Elevator Group Supervisory Control System (EGSCS) is a complex and difficult problem to solve because it is too dynamic and probabilistic. It is suitable for GNP to apply to such a system.
