Hidayah","doi":"10.21043/thabiea.v3i2.8893","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21043/thabiea.v3i2.8893","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to describe the implementation of the small-scale chemistry approach in the practicum, as well as to show various Pre-service Science Teachers’ impressions. This research is action research involving 69 Pre-service Science Teachers (PSTs), 15 males and 54 females. Collecting data using documentation techniques at each stage of practicum activities, as well as reflection sheets. The results of the documentation are presented and analyzed using narrative descriptions, while the results of the reflections from the PSTs are coded and grouped into (1) the most memorable experiment, (2) positive impressions, and (3) negative impressions. The practicum covers five topics, namely (1) separation of the mixture (filtration), (2) reaction rate, (3) oxidation and reduction reactions (electrolysis), (4) heat transfer (calorimeter), and (5) acid-base solution. The practicum that gave the most impressive was the practicum on acid-base solutions (41.2%), while the one that got the least impressive was the practicum on calorimeters (4.4%). Many positive impressions that appear in practicum activities are “low-cost”, “colorful”, “easy to carry”, “hard to break”, “material savings”, and “more understandable”. The most negative impressions that appear in the series of implementation activities are “limited tools”, “too small-scale tools” and “inaccuracy”. This research was conducted by using a descriptive method that involved 27 eleventh graders who took the Science program. The research was conducted in six stages with different compliance in every stage. The compliance category of the students’ motivation and self-assessment training stage was good, the implementation stage of a formative test using feedback instructions (clue) was good, the implementation stage of self-assessment was very good, the stage of communicating the results for feedback (ideal criteria implemented) was very good, and the stage of utilizing the results was very good. In the implementation of self-assessment, most students could carry out self-assessment well. Besides, it has also known that students were satisfied with the feedback given by using the self-assessment rubric and they got benefits in the form of feedback clue from the self-assessment rubric. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning using the 5E learning cycle model assisted by scaffolding on acid and base material as seen from an increase in students' understanding of concepts. This research is a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 32 students who choose randomly from the chemical education study program class of 2019. The instrument used is an essay learning achievement test to measure students' understanding of acid and base concepts. The results showed that the n-gain value obtained is 0.31 or can be interpreted as an increase with moderate criteria. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah 4D (define, design, develop, dan disseminate) namun hanya dilakukan sampai tahap develop. Dalam pengumpulan data digunakan metode wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan tes. Hasil validasi oleh ahli materi diperoleh presentase rata-rata sebesar 87,7% dengan kategori sangat layak. Dari hasil validasi ahli media diperoeh presentase rata-rata sebesar 88% dengan kategori sangat layak, sedangkan dari penilaian peserta didik diperoleh presentase rata-rata sebesar 90,22% dengan kategori sangat layak. Dari postes diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 89,11. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XII IPA 6 Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Kudus. Penelitian dilakukan dengan dua siklus dan masing-masing siklus terdiri atas empat tahapan, yakni: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan melalui dokumentasi, tes, angket, observasi. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X program ilmu pengetahuan alam dari salah satu sekolah menengah di Kudus. Keefektifan diukur berdasarkan nilai ukuran efek Cohen d berdasarkan hasil pretest dan posttest yang diambil menggunakan desain deret waktu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keefektifan pendekatan saintifik dalam pembelajaran biologi berorientasi literasi saintifik berada di kategori sedang dengan nilai 0,548. Pendekatan sciencepreneurship dapat diterapkan pada materi biotekonologi konvensional yaitu pada pembuatan tempe dan yogurt.
