The demodulator benefits from the five-port qualities which allow it a broadband behaviour and a low cost circuit. This system operates in 6 to 8.5 GHz frequency range for European UWB applications. The main parameters are a local oscillator signal power and bias voltage set to 6 dBm and 0.22 V, respectively. The mixer achieves good performance with conversion losses estimated to 10 dB at 7 GHz.","PeriodicalId":308339,"journal":{"name":"2008 38th European Microwave Conference","volume":"181 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122353734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna, which operates in Ku band (12.5 GHz to 12.75 GHz), is based on a modular design. The developed antenna & RF front-end module is implemented in multilayer technology and it has been tested from an electrical, mechanical and thermal point of view. The results presented in this paper are the results of the work developed under the project MULFUN, \"Multifunctional Structures\", a VI Framework EC project. The objective was to reduce costs and provide added value to avionics equipment by integration of electrical, mechanical and thermal functions.","PeriodicalId":308339,"journal":{"name":"2008 38th European Microwave Conference","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125670334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By modifying the conventional short-circuited stub bandpass filter structure with lower characteristic impedances for stubs and connecting lines, the number of stubs has been reduced from 5 to 2 stubs on a high dielectric constant substrate (epsivr = 40). A wireless local area network (WLAN) stopband in the frequency range of 5.15 to 5.825 GHz has been inserted into the filter characteristic using three short-circuited coupled lines. An insertion loss less than 1.0 dB and return loss better than 10 dB in the pass bands have been measured. A bandwidth ratio of 109.49% has been achieved. The proposed technique is based on the matrix synthesis method that was implemented for the array of waveguide-fed axial slots on a perfectly conducting infinite circular cylinder. The synthesis technique combined with 3D EM model of the cylindrical array allows controlling the multi-lobe pattern of array including directions, relative amplitudes and phases of the individual lobes. An LCP coplanar waveguide fabricated on top of a silicon-etched microchannel with circulating water under a shielding ground plane is the vehicle to demonstrate the integration technology of this paper. The measured RF results are nearly identical with and without water in the microchannel. By using the spherical mode expansion, free-space is considered as a waveguide, thus enablingmodal techniques to be applied for dealing with closed waveguides and radiative problems. The effect of the finite flange and hemispherical radome is rigorously studied considering both the return loss and the radiation diagram.","PeriodicalId":308339,"journal":{"name":"2008 38th European Microwave Conference","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126039756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
