Two hypotheses: the informativeness of SMS significantly influence attitudes towards SMS advertising, and the entertainment nature of SMS’ significantly influences attitudes toward SMS advertising were tested. A cross-sectional design for the study was selected. The use of cross-sectional design is supported by Levin (2006), Wang and Cheng (2020), Zangirolami-Raimundo, Echeimberg, and Leone (2018) who advance that cross-sectional research design collects data at one point in time and enhances the establishment of preliminary evidence for future studies. The study adopted a non-probability sampling technique, targeting 500 Facebook users. To collect data, a research instrument(questionnaire) was administered using a digital survey, whereby a digital link was sent to Facebook users. To test for reliability, the study constructed a reliability analysis test to ascertain the presence of internal consistency. Informativeness, and entertainment reliability coefficients were found to be higher than 0.7 which indicates the existence of high internal consistency, and the overall reliability coefficient indicates an acceptable (0.834) internal consistency across all the variables when combined. The Analysis of variation was used to ascertain whether informativeness and entertainment were significant predictors of attitudes towards SMS advertising. The results from the ANOVA output revealed that informativeness and entertainment have a significant influence on mobile phone users’ attitudes towards SMS advertising (F(2, 154)=12.602, p=.000). The study concludes that SMS advertising is a credible route to convey entertainment news via mobile phone devices. In essence, mobile phone consumers' attitudes towards SMS advertising are mainly dependent on entertainment nature of SMS adverts contained in a message, which further implies that mobile phone consumers are enticed by entertainment mature of SMS advertisements","PeriodicalId":305882,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research Innovation and Implications in Education","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128739303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, more institutions of higher education are making an effort toward creating more inclusive settings for the students and staff. This study examined the lived experiences of the students with disabilities in an institution of higher education in Zimbabwe. Student experiences and disability are the main themes in this study. This study is phenomenological research that was carried out with a questionnaire survey which was conducted among seven participants. This was triangulated by interviews that involved two participants. Overall results showed that physical disability is the most prevalent amongst the students in the institution considered for the study. Moreover, the disabled students faced challenges at home and in their life at university, which affected them psychologically. In addition, while the students were conscious of the existing international and national protocols that promote their welfare, they were not well aware of those embedded within their university policies. Results also reveal that the disabled students suffered socially from stigma and negligence from their able-bodied counterparts and staff. Further, they had limited access to some of the physical structures that lacked ramps and lifts. To promote full participation of the disabled students in academic life, the institution is expected to formulate and implement a binding disability policy that promotes diversity and inclusive education. In addition, infrastructure, especially the old structures need to be refurbished with the disabled in mind.","PeriodicalId":305882,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research Innovation and Implications in Education","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126643921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study sought to determine how engineering students' conceptual grasp of electromagnetism was affected by learning through real-life application-based classroom activities. Seventy-three (73) students successfully completed the study at IPRC Huye, with 35 in the experimental group and 38 in the control group. In experimental group, the teaching intervention used real-world applications, whereas the control got conventional instruction. Two physics teachers gave lectures on magnetostatics, current electricity, electrostatics, and electromagnetic induction. The conceptual assessment of electricity and magnetism. Independent sample t-test and normalized learning gain were all used in the analysis. Mean mark in pre-test for both control and experimental group are 31.5 and 33.5 respectively and significant value p=0.679 which meant that there was no significant different in conceptual understanding between the groups before the treatment. The mean mark after treatment was found to be 52.44 and 68.5 respectively and significant value p= 0.00 which indicated that there was a significant different in conceptual understanding of electromagnetism between control and experimental group after intervention. Despite being both categorized as being in the medium category, the major findings showed that students in the experimental group increased their conceptual knowledge of electromagnetism more than those in the control group (g_av=0.520>g_av=0.31).The findings of this study concluded that hands-on exercises that linked ideas of electricity and magnetism were noted as the most interesting by students and physics teachers.","PeriodicalId":305882,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research Innovation and Implications in Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116892852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross sectional research design was used on a sample of 108 participants from whom questionnaires were used to collect data. SPSS (version 25) was adopted to process data while analysis was done through descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that all tenets of contract management studied are positively related to operational performance (contract administration: r = 0.53; p < 0.01, relationship management: r = 0.644; p < 0.01 and contract monitoring: r = 0.469; p <0.01). Results revealed that contract management explains 41.3% of the variation in operational performance of UNRA and that contract administration, relationship management and contract monitoring have a positive effect on operational performance with net contributions of 42%, 34.7% and 24.6% respectively. The researchers conclude that contract management positively predicts operational performance. The researchers recommend that the authorities at UNRA should pay keen attention to all dimensions of contract management adopted in the study since they all positively relate with and equally positively influence operational performance of the organization. By doing so, any occurrences that would jeopardize smooth flow of activities and works will be eliminated, hence harnessing operational efficiency.","PeriodicalId":305882,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research Innovation and Implications in Education","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124415290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
