However, during the acquisition, transmission, compression and storage processes, the Magnetic Resonance (MR) images are corrupted by various types of noise and artifacts that degrade their visual quality. Most of the existing MR images denoising techniques give good quality images only when the noise density is low with their performances deteriorating as the noise power increases. The few methods that yield high quality images for all noise densities involve multiple complex and time-consuming processes. This paper proposes a computationally simple MR images denoising technique that consistently gives good denoising results for low as well as high noise densities. The proposed procedure fuses an MR image that is denoised by a Modified Discrete Fast Fourier Transform (MDFFT) filter with one that is denoised using a non-local means filter in frequency domain to yield a high quality output image. The main contribution of this proposed method is the employment of a novel image fusion approach that greatly improves the quality of the denoised image. The performance of the proposed technique is compared with those of the Wiener, median, adaptive median and the MDFFT filters. Objective metrics such as the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and the Structural Similarity (SSIM) index were used in the performance assessments. The outcomes of these assessments showed that the proposed algorithm yielded images of higher quality in terms of the PSNR measure than the existing denoising techniques by at least 7.11 dB for a noise density of up to 0.5.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133883369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We represent, in this work, an efficient approach for determining the position of the eye in images presenting faces. First, a series of candidate regions are proposed; next, a set of cascaded U-net is used to detect the eye regions; then edge detection methods are used to detect eyes lids and iris boundary and thus helping determining the gaze direction of person having ASD. Our proposed approach achieved a precision of detection that is better than the current most recent methods in trials utilizing GI4E, BioID, and columbiaGaze datasets. The proposed approach is robust to picture alterations, such as changes in external illumination, facial occlusion, and image modality.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126095548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system is designed to detect the gestures of the hands in the images captured in real time. There are certain areas of intersect in the hands that are there for the classification. The gaming devices like Xbox, PS4 and smart phones are also using this method to solve few problems. In this paper a smart method i9s developed to solve the problem. Using Python 3.9 and MediaPipe, the hand gestures are recognised in the real-time images. The background subtraction is the key method used to generate the results. The hand is detected and processed for the finding of the binary image with the fixed number of pixels. The palm position, dimension and the gesture are recognised. In this experiment, the finger count and the position of the fingers is considered as the gesture. The finger count can also be calculated after the hand is recognised. The major areas of the Image Processing and the MediaPipe in Python are covered to solve this problem.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133448114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method first retrieves the crack skeleton and profile from the crack map generated by pre-processing the original image. Then, the crack skeleton is abstracted into a tree structure, and small edges from the crack trunk are removed to calculate the length of the crack. Finally, Euclidian distance transform is applied on the crack profile to calculate the width of the crack. The proposed method can identify crack properties automatically and enhance stability, durability, and safety evaluation of the concrete construction. Validity and accuracy are tested by experiments on crack images of real concrete construction.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122699287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite their relative success, most of annotation models suffer from the low-level visual representation and semantic gap. To address the above shortcomings, we propose a novel annotation method utilizing textual feature generated by image captioning, in contrast to all previous methods that use visual feature as image feature. In our method, each image is regarded as a label-vector of k userprovided textual tags rather than a visual vector. We summarize our method as follows. First, the image visual features are extracted by combining the deep residual network and the object detection model, which are encoded and decoded by the mesh-connected Transformer network model. Then, the textual modal feature vector of the image is constructed by removing stop-words and retaining high-frequency tags. Finally, the textual feature vector of the image is applied to the propagation annotation model to generate a high-quality image annotation labels. Experimental results conducted on standard MS-COCO datasets demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms existing classical models, mainly benefiting from the proposed textual feature generated by image captioning technology.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131660555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transform has translation invariance, is suitable for expressing images with rich detail information and direction information, and can avoid the ringing effect introduced by general methods to the fused images. The image is decomposed by the transform to obtain high and low frequency components. The high-frequency component uses PCNN as the fusion rule, and the low-frequency component uses the golden section method to search the optimal low-frequency fusion weight, so as to fuse the low-frequency subband coefficients of multi-sensor images adaptively. Comparative experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve better fusion effect.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132460828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Figure and picture design of computer is no longer limited to the simple design of graphics or images, but is more inclined to visually convey the effect and enhance the expressiveness and beauty of graphics and images. Based on this situation, based on data mining algorithm, this paper puts forward the optimization strategy of figure and picture design of computer and the design of visual sense transmitting, and discusses the specific application of computer-related design in people's practical life. In the application of figure and picture design of computer and the design of visual sense transmitting, data mining algorithm can not only efficiently and accurately mine the final frequent set association rules, but also meet the requirements of efficient data mining in multi-core and heterogeneous platforms, which verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of data mining algorithm in computer graphic images.","PeriodicalId":305800,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING","volume":"15 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120903740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
