We would like to give a short review of these problems in this paper. We dealt with the definition of the villages, and asked what a village is nowadays in Hungary. Are all the non-urban administrative units villages and are there any villages that from a geographical viewpoint are without local government? There are plenty of former villages which have lost administrative independence, but they look and work like a village. On the other hand, there are small settlements that have a local government, but with only a dozen people and without any other functions. Other questions connected with new processes of urbanization-suburbanization, social and economic changes, and changing local identity make it extremely hard to group the villages.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130002788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the magnitude of neither the earthquake nor the tsunami was unprecedented, due to the size of the affected area, the height above sea level, the size and density of the local population, as well as the unpreparedness of the risk management, the disaster can be identified as the most destructive catastrophe of humanity. The present research examines the events of the 2004 tsunami in the context of Southeast Asian disaster diplomacy. The methodological framework of the study is the complex adaptive system (CAS) method, which is applied in the analysis of complex adaptive systems through four properties and three mechanisms. Among the variables of the CAS method, the property of diversity as well as the mechanism of building blocks determined regional cooperation. The natural disaster of 2004 demonstrates well that the member states of the Association of Southeast Nations are capable of disaster cooperation despite the unsuccessful\u0000protection measures.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126984374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though there are several articles that have investigated urban structure changes, social problems of housing estates, effects of regeneration programs and so on, a very limited number of publications have concentrated on market prices and the spatial structure they suggest. In a four-yearslong project, our research group has focused on the housing markets of second-tier cities and its influence on inner spatial structural processes inside and around those cities. In this paper we try to analyse one of our research-field regional centres (Szeged) and its large-scale housing estates to understand their different attractiveness in housing markets in a longer-term period (form 1997 to 2020). We try to analyse through primary data sources and collected data sources the heterogeneity behind the homogeneity of LHEs – in general – in the minds of sellers and buyers in housing markets. We used not just data analysis, but local development documents, Master Plans, and qualitative sources (semi structured interviews with local decision makers and experts) to understand what primary data suggest. The most impressive result of our research was that only one of the investigated qualitative parameters was count differing the sqm-price levels, the roofing (which apartments are the youngest in the LHEs housing markets). The effect of the Panel Programme in urban scale does not influence it, as even inside a certain LHE it has a weak effect on prices.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122445635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We summarize the evolutionary, that is prospect-refuge, habitat and information processing theories, dealing with social-psychological aspects of the question and also with the ecological aesthetics idea. In 2021 a landscape character survey was carried out among the citizens of the Tiszazug microregion of Hungary. According to the answers of 104 respondants, the character of the landscape in the microregion would change most dramatically by the disappearance of oxbow lakes, floodplain forests and vineyards. They recognize that the decreasing number of the population and aging of the citizens results in decreasing intensity of landuse, the growing extent of areas that are out of crops and an increasing number of abandoned buildings on the level of landscape scenery.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122641342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the information, collected proposals are made to achieve optimal land utilization. Thereby sustainable agriculture can be introduced to the area with improved ecosystem services and extensive nature conservation. The study utilized GIS analyses, the combination of thematic layers of land use digitized from archived military surveys and topographic maps, and a supervised classification of satellite images to generate the proportions of land use classes and values of landscape metrics. Major transformations of land utilization were detected: by the 1940s human impact had intensified and natural habitats had shrunk, but subsequently the ratio of forests increased and the previous land use patterns began to take shape again. The reason for this development was that since 1920 the Drava had been functioning as a border river and arable cultivation began to be excluded from the active floodplain. At the same time, the gradual reduction of wetland and grassland areas led to lower biodiversity.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129288825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting from the initial priorities of good neighbourhood relationship and security policy, these relations have been transformed in light of strong trade relations, and subsequent efforts and sanctions made to preserve the national minority rights of the Hungarians living in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. Looking back to the last three decades, the current position of the international and bilateral relations between the two states has an impact on the daily lives and activities of the population living in the Ukrainian-Hungarian transborder region. Based on the semi-structured interviews we have conducted, the deteriorating bilateral relations between the two states seemingly have not (yet) deteriorated the Ukrainian-Hungarian cross-border cooperation. The current force of social cohesion and the interdependence of the two counties have so far proved stronger in the face of diplomatic disagreements.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130521316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper uses twenty-five years of historical capital market prices to show how the neglect of geographical diversification results in a deterioration in investment decision-making. The study shows that even the world’s largest capital markets are worth investing in cross-border capital markets because geographical spatiality can offer significant diversification benefits.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128598842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Other inner area is an inner area not interconnected geographically with the central inner area of the administrative unit. Not all localities include an other inner area, but there are localities with more other inner areas. They are partly former villages which are now parts of other settlements (incorporated villages) or former outskirts with a small cluster of houses. They are between the central inner areas and the outskirts of settlements both architectural character both functions and population size. There are nineteen such settlements in the Sopron district, most are in the administrative area of the town of Sopron. These settlements are very different by size, functions, development trends, original function, and transport facilities. The most important transformation factors of the other inner areas of Sopron district are suburbanization (near the town of Sopron), tourism (near Lake Fertő) and cross-border relations (shopping tourism, medical tourism, residential functions of those persons who work in Austria). The former hobby gardens, wine-hills and new suburban estates near Sopron are rather dynamic, but the former mining colonies and manors further from Sopron are declining.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"218 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131609804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It measures different mainly practice-oriented skills such as the analysis of geographical data and suggestions for local development. In this study, I compare the tasks of this competition and the Hungarian selection competition to highlight the main differences. I use the tests opened to the public in these two competitions. The study also attempts to present some of the challenges of the preparation process based on the preparation experience between 2018 and 2021 with ten students. In the conclusion, I identify six key activities which help to develop the preparation process. The study consists of three large units. In the first, I summarize the general characteristics of the national selection competitions. Next, I analyse the structure, rounds, and tasks of iGeo and Hungeo. In the last section, I present the Hungeo-specific tasks which only occur in the national competition.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"14 56","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132477432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Microplastics (< 5 mm) have several morphological types: fragments can be formed by physical weathering of larger plastic objects; fibres usually originate from washing synthetic clothes; while pearls used in cosmetics get into the environment by means of communal waste. Our aim is to analyse the sedimentation pattern of microplastics on various floodplain forms along a natural meander of the Lower Tisza River, Hungary. The uppermost sediment layer (0–5 cm) of the floodplain forms contains 0–1800 microplastics/kg. The sediments of the swales (458–1300 particles/kg) and the point bar sediments (220–1600 particles/kg) are the most polluted, but the samples from the low-lying clay pits are also highly contaminated (818–880 particles/kg). The active point bar and the natural levee have lower levels of microplastic contamination (100–620 particles/kg). In the natural levee along the channel, microplastics are present to a depth of 50 cm (1753–4800 particles/kg), while in the distal parts of the floodplain only the upper 0–10 cm sediment layer is polluted. Plastic fibres are the most common plastic types in the samples, clearly indicating that they originate from treated or untreated wastewater.","PeriodicalId":305418,"journal":{"name":"Földrajzi Közlemények","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123464587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
