Coming back into power in 2010, Fidesz has completed fundamental constitutional reform (including the voting system), and has gradually attracted a wider share of the Hungarian electorate. In this study, a wide range of social indicators were used for each election year between 1998 and 2022 to measure the relationships between party support and the possible social background of those who support the current regime. The main question was if the Fidesz electorate could be described by certain social indicators and if so, what was the dimension in that regard in the time period under investigation. Based on our quantitative analysis, the popularity of the party can be characterized by socio-economic indicators, though significant changes can be observed in this respect, since the party first won elections in 1998. Recent research aims to identify the economic opportunities that may arise as a result of the planned interventions or that have been latent in the socio-economic life of the region so far. The research method is based firstly on the detailed analysis of strategic documents containing findings on the economic aspects of Szigetköz–Csallóköz, and secondly on in-depth interviews with the decision-makers and institutional leaders of the municipalities concerned (N = 22). Naming is in the hands of political power so it is worth observing the elements of the toponymical structure with a critical eye. Whether commemorative street names reflect the historical perspective of a broader or a narrower social group makes a difference, because if the latter prevails, alternative place names can easily be born. In my study, I would like to present some of the different lines of research on place names and briefly describe case studies of foreign countries and cities that highlight the different attributes of toponymy. I will then summarize the past and present of place names in Budapest followed by a qualitative and quantitative analyses of the 6th and 13th districts of the capital. Terézváros has a number of symbolic street names which were renamed in times of political change. Teleworking has become more pronounced and the management of distributed teams has become a focus of business research. The spread of teleworking has enabled businesses to improve their operational efficiency. Innovative digital practices have enabled teleworkers to work together regardless of their geographical location. However, managing geographically distributed work communities can be challenging due to a variety of factors, such as communication barriers, cultural differences and lack of physical presence. This paper aims to explore the benefits and challenges of teleworking in innovative digital management. The study is based on a qualitative methodology that uses in-depth interviews with teleworking managers and employees to explore the advantages and disadvantages of teleworking, such as increased productivity and cost efficiency, and the importance of exploiting a skilled and talented workforce. In addition, the study presents the challenges of managing telework, such as communication barriers, time zone differences and cultural diversity. {"title":"A covid-19 világjárvány néhány gazdasági, társadalmi és környezeti következménye földrajzos szemmel","authors":"","doi":"10.32643/fk.147.1.1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32643/fk.147.1.1","url":null,"abstract":"Based on the specifics of the coronavirus epidemics (SARS, MERS) that preceded the COVID-19 pandemic, our study presents the causes and geographical pathways of the spread of the diseases. The global interconnectedness of human societies led almost necessarily to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. We describe the routes of the global spread of the pandemic, including the role of aviation, and then examine the causes of the infection waves of the pandemic, and the methods of effective control. Regarding the effects of the pandemic on the global economy, we found that rich countries recovered from the crisis relatively quickly, while the suffering of the economies of poor countries was prolonged. Among the social impacts, we consider the widening gap between rich and poor and the educational backwardness of poor children to be serious. The beneficial environmental impact of the pandemic was only temporary. In order to avoid another pandemic changes to the urban environment and also in the society are necessary. A great example of this is Lake Fertő, whose rapidly warming waters provided a recreational opportunity for those, who are arriving there in the first decades of the 20th century. However, the lake showed signs of drying out in 1928. The issue, which has become a public problem at almost Central European level, has been followed by various newspapers and the scientific press too. The Austrian Government ultimately voted to dry the lake. Subsequently, both Austrian and Hungarian public opinion were divided into two sides: one side demanded the final drying of the lake, and the other side demanded the retention and regulation of the lakes water. In June 1933, to deal with the growing social tension, a debate on the future of Lake Fertő was held on two occasions, where representatives of both sides presented their positions. In my study, I will answer the following questions: How did the public and the scientific aera respond to the question of drying up Fertő? How did the society think about the question that has become relevant again today? {"title":"Joe Biden amerikai elnök külpolitikai szerepfelfogásának vizsgálata az orosz-ukrán konfliktus kapcsán","authors":"","doi":"10.32643/fk.146.4.3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32643/fk.146.4.3","url":null,"abstract":"According to Role Theory, which is derived from sociology and psychology, all individuals assume a role that is adapted to a particular situation, living conditions, and expectations.This basic idea has also been incorporated into the foreign policy analysis with the intention of gaining insight into the hidden parts of foreign policy decision-making. This study focuses on U.S. president Joe Biden’s role with regard to conceptions about the Russo-Ukrainian War and his relations with post-socialist Eastern European. After the theoretical section, the article analyses remarks made by Biden in the presidential election during the Ukrainian war’s first half year. These remarks reveal his ideology, while the external impacts determine his decision-making and his “mental map.” As a result, we can assess that Biden has assumed the role of the “protector of Faith,” namely the protector of the liberal democratic order against the aggressive pressure of autocracy represented by China and Russia. To perform this role, Biden, as the U.S. president, reinforces U.S. alliances and ensures security as well as financial and humanitarian help to Ukraine. They are excellent for studying large areas, clusters, and geomorphological forms, and with their help, it is not difficult to analyse hundreds of forms. A common problem in the statistical evaluation of DTMs is that the results may depend on the resolution of the input data. My aim in this study was to examine one of the simplest volcanic forms, the cinder cones, from a geomorphometric point of view and to show the extent to which the result was affected by the different resolutions of the DTMs. The study areas were the San Francisco Volcanic Field (SRTM DTM resolutions 30 and 10 m) in Arizona (USA) and ChaĒne des Puys (LiDAR DTM resolutions 90 and 0.5 m) in Auvergne (France). Polar coordinate transformation (PCT) was used, descriptive parameters (cone height and average slope) were calculated, and a comparison was carried out (with the help of the Mann-Whitney test) to show statistically significant differences for age groups and values derived from different resolutions. The slope values are the most sensitive to the resolution of the input data: comparing the age groups with themselves, but with values calculated from DTM with different resolutions, the slope shows a statistically significant difference in almost all cases. Based on the tests, an ideal resolution for scoria cone morphometric examination should be at least 10 meters, but if it is an area that contains older, smaller cones, a better resolution is a better choice. The animal origin of the majority of infectious diseases is considered proven by most specialists. In several cases, persistent weather changes also played a role in the outbreaks of pandemics, causing famines. The development of a society, including crowdedness in cities, the development of trade and transport, and the expansion of human relations have played a decisive role in the spread of pandemics, while wars deepen the consequences of diseases. The spread of pandemics is shown on maps and the first successful medical geography research in history is analysed. Severe pandemics have hindered the development of particular societies, which, in turn, leads to the regeneration of nature. Digitalization and the emergence of new digital technologies have also transformed the tourism sector. Without digitalization, the development of tourism today would be unthinkable. Businesses that engage in digitalization and successfully apply new technologies will clearly gain a competitive advantage, thus, the importance of this issue is therefore unquestionable. In our study, we will briefly review the state of digitalization in tourism and explore its potential impact on tourism businesses, drawing on international literature.
