In this study, we explored and described boundary-crossing spaces, when co-creating an adjusted educational program for nursing students in a nursing home in Norway. How to learn holistic person-centered dementia care, evolved through the participants in a learning community. A critical ethnographic approach and method with observations, field notes, minutes of board, spontaneous meetings, and focus groups particularly with the students were used. Data were analyzed with six-step thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke. There were two main themes: 1) Creating a room for learning communities and 2) The room of the cultivation of students in learning communities. We further suggest, learning communities co-creation in elderly care, might potentiate innovative research- and development methods for the future.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47793446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In reported studies, the methodological part is usually too short to present the complexities in dialogues over time. We therefore have analyzed the interview processes with younger people with dementia, relating the interactions to central concepts associated with identity. The aim was to explore the methodological interview approach used in a longitudinal study, focusing on supporting identity and self-esteem. We used the concept of responsive identity to illuminate our findings. In addition, we demonstrate how the interview dialogues can support identity and self-esteem of the participants. The core of this approach is that the interviewee, living with dementia, should be seen, confirmed and supported to preserve the person`s self and dignity. Dialogue with responsive identity support is a fruitful research method in dementia research. This approach can be generalized to person-centred communication in health and caring relationships.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48278920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A questionnaire was distributed to nursing students at a university (N=250) in Norway. Student satisfaction, task orientation, pedagogical atmosphere, supervisory relationship, and the premises of nursing on the ward were measured. Of the 250 students invited, 163 (66 %) completed the survey. Nursing students were largely satisfied with their clinical placement experiences, but they were more satisfied with hospital placements than home care placements. Supervision more than once a week and having one supervisor was important for student satisfaction. Students’ relationship with their supervisors was strongest associated with satisfaction with their clinical placements. Supervisors play an important role in nursing students’ satisfaction with their clinical practice, with results indicating that this should be emphasized in the development of nursing education. The results indicate that nursing guidance skills should be strengthened to ensure the quality of clinical placements in nursing education.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42649167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Welfare technology may be a solution to reduce the expected care crisis. The public healthcare system is influenced by New Public Management ideals as” what can we afford? rather than “what are the patients` need”. Questions concerning patients’ rights and healthcare providers’ moral obligation seem to be less important. In the discussion Martinsen criticizes that caring has become a secondary term where patients` have less power. To increase the patient’s user involvement, Habermas suggests communicative discourse as a solution to the discrepancy between the public healthcare systems focus on earnings, and the patients’ need for care. ","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45965645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A phenomenological study of at-home cancer patients' description av their life situations under palliativ care \u0000The aim of this study was to investigate how at-home cancer patients perceived their life situations during the palliative care phase. The study employed a qualitative exploratory research design involving in-depth personal interviews with six women and two men between the ages of 35 and 63. All the interviewees lived at home, experiencing different life situations and suffering from different types of cancer. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data analysis was carried out using the descriptive phenomenological method presented by Giorgi. The findings are grouped under four themes; living with uncertainty and future unpredictability, perceptions of being seen and heard in encounters with health professionals and others, stress associated with the perception of disappointing close relatives, and challenges linked to meeting everyday demands. The patients’ stories relate their views on life, suffering and pain relief.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":"16 1","pages":"16"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42148594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Equivalent strategy for upper extremity activation is lacking, therefore, there might be a higher degree of remaining disability in the hand/arm. This retrospective study aimed to describe the strength in hand and legs, and the relationship therebetween, at an intensive care unit (ICU) follow up-reception. Hand dynamometer and Timed-Stands Test (TST) were measured and correlated to illness severity by Simplified Acute Physiology Score III (SAPS3). Data from 47 participants was compared to matched control values. The hand strength was lower (p=0,028) with low effect (r=-0,2), of clinical relevance as it may affect the ability in activities of daily living (ADL). There were no significant differences for strength in the legs, correlation between strength and illness severity and for comparison of strength divided by illness severity. Larger studies are recommended.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":"16 1","pages":"24"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46771408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
