The aim of this study was to compare learning outcome in a flipped classroom with a standard lecture. The hypothesis was that applying a flipped classroom model in a dosage calculation class would improve learning outcome when compared to standard learning. One group was assigned to a flipped classroom (n=43), and the other group to a traditional lecture-based classroom (n=45). Data were collected through answer sheets and test results. Course content, assessments, and instructional time for both models were equivalent. The social educator students in the flipped group performed better in the test, compared to the traditional group, where the flipped group had 22% reduction in failing the exam. The flipped classroom approach is promising as an acceptable approach for teaching in dosage calculation curricular in higher education.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":"15"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47325454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A population-based sample of children and adolescents aged 11-14, (N = 1748) was mapped for the occurrence of depressive symptoms across various leisure activities. The results show that those who participate in sports, either exclusively or in combination with cultural activities, report lower levels of depressive symptoms compared to those who only participate in cultural activities. The study confirms a considerable incidence of depressive symptoms among children and adolescents and provide new knowledge of variation in the incidence of depressive symptoms. The findings suggest that special attention should be paid to children and adolescents neither participate in sports, nor a range of leisure activities.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":"15"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43577888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This essay is the introductory text to a special issue in Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning that in its entirety concerns ‘livsmot’. The collection of essays should be of interest to students, researchers, health professionals and others. The issue highlights and discusses different philosophical approaches that can promote our understanding of what can give us courage and hope on good and bad days, in sickness and in health. The authors in the article collection write in essay form and use examples from life and research to bring forth their understanding of the phenomenon. Nurses describe working days that provide little pleasure. Work enjoyment tends to be the result of nurses’ relationship with colleagues and the people they are in contact with and care for. In interviews, home nurses describe busy days of physical and mental pressure to complete all their tasks. There is little enjoyment and a feeling of inadequacy in their work. They call for space for joy that gives them the possibility to achieve work satisfaction. An attempt is made to describe the factors that promote and constrain work enjoyment in nursing through reflection on home nurses’ experiences and the use of texts from the history of ideas and from nursing.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":"15 1","pages":"14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47517051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the underlying profound seriousness of these conversations, the term “interview” is discarded in order to emphasize their relational aspect. Care and consideration to maintain dignity is shaped by these research conversations. The relationship between researcher and participant is not of a private nature. Yet a dialogue that persistently aims at the research goal is not possible either. The text touches on the various considerations necessary to include when planning and conducting studies aimed at this group of relatives. The risk of role change from researcher to therapist is described. But the ethical care aspect of this interpersonal encounter is of greater importance than the “therapeutic” aspect. Against the backdrop of a life phenomenon such as grief, care is used to protect the other and promote courage for life. The material is drawn from reflections on research interviews for a PhD project that was completed in 2013.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":"15 1","pages":"13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42839037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hope is supported by the couple’s strong and loving relationship and by empathy and caring in their relationships with professional caregivers. In this way, the relational component of hope is revealed as the most important prerequisite for maintaining hope. The analysis demonstrates that life courage and hope are strongly needed for trust in the future and rehabilitation efforts. However, careless and unprofessional attitudes and practices of clinicians may lead to loss of control, poorer self-image and hopelessness. To support the hope of patients and relatives, clinicians must show caring attitudes and use both medical and humanistic knowledge. They should not devalue the phenomenon of hope as unrealistic.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47541438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I stress five dimensions in courage to be: power, possibility, vitality, courage and meaning. It is made clear, that even if courage to be in adults are not attached to bodily unfolding, yet it is stored in the body and therefore can be called forth in a bodily way. In the second part of the essay I discuss the relation between courage to be on one side and fear of life, selfishness and joy of life on the other side. It is demonstrated, that what nourishes and maintains courage to be is joy of life and self-devotion. The thesis of the essay is accordingly that courage to be is created and maintained partly by vitality in its different forms, partly by its attachment to joy of life.","PeriodicalId":30131,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk Tidsskrift for Helseforskning","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44928826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nursing home is presented as an illustration of a physical place and the online gaming world represents a virtual place. Young and old share stories of how the symbolic meaning of place or memories of place can nurture hope and meaning. The stories also show how their attachment to place can result in a constricted understanding of who they are. Memories of vitality and envisioning themselves as strong and active create meaning and provide a welcome distraction in their everyday lives.
