The objective of this research is to study the competitiveness of three small-economies: Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Singapore. The double-diamond model of competitiveness is useful when performing this task.

With data obtain from international organizations. The findings suggest that Singapore shows a higher level of global competitiveness compared to Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. We conclude that Puerto Rico and Costa Rica have similar levels of competitiveness, because internationally Puerto Rico leads to Costa Rica on 3 determinants: factor conditions, demand conditions and related industries. On the other hand, Costa Rica is locally more competitive than Puerto Rico in 3 domestic factors: factor conditions, demand conditions and firm's strategy.

","PeriodicalId":30125,"journal":{"name":"Investigaciones Europeas de Direccion y Economia de la Empresa","volume":"20 3","pages":"Pages 122-130"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.iedee.2013.09.001","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"54348741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do this, we use diverse multivariate techniques, the concept of financial condition and a large sample of Spanish municipalities. By isolating the electoral cycle and analyzing the essence of political factors, our main findings are that conservative and progressive parties do not present different behavior in relation to any of the financial dimensions. The territoriality of political parties influences the relationship between fund transfers received by the municipalities and certain expenses and investments. Furthermore, we did not detect that, in Spain, a partisan alignment exists between municipalities and the upper-level institutions.

","PeriodicalId":30125,"journal":{"name":"Investigaciones Europeas de Direccion y Economia de la Empresa","volume":"20 3","pages":"Pages 110-121"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.iedee.2013.11.001","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"54349045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But sometimes their choices comprise intransitivities. Current paper presents a mathematically supported experimental study of consumers’ intransitive preferences concerning product attributes. We used a personalized experimental design developed on the basis of Q methodology to maintain subjectivity. In our experimental study we are investigating intransitivity occurring in participants’ preferences during selection between simple, medium complex, and complex products. By the Q method we gain the same number of less important (middle level) attribute dimensions for all participants. The participants’ task is to make pairwise comparisons of preference between specific realizations of each product group. Since conjoint analysis is based on the measurement and testing of consumer preferences, reassessment of the phenomenon may have impact on marketing research methodology. This research is to test an experimental design which—with some adjustment—could be able to measure revealed preferences in a more precise way.

","PeriodicalId":30125,"journal":{"name":"Investigaciones Europeas de Direccion y Economia de la Empresa","volume":"20 2","pages":"Pages 102-108"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.iedee.2014.01.002","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"54349373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
