Le terme polychromie designe desormais le revetement recouvrant le materiau de la sculpture, qui est constitue de l’ensemble des couches, y compris les feuilles metalliques (or, argent, or parti, etain…) et les decors rapportes. A la place de l’expression allemande Pressbrokat ou Pressbrokat-Applikationen (« brocarts appliques »), creee au XXe siecle en reference a des etoffes improprement appelees brocarts, nous proposons l’expression decors moules et appliques, plus juste et explicite. This investigation presents an analysis and classification of the patterns, making procedures and combinations of materials of the applied brocades of the wooden altarpieces of the Basque province of Gipuzkoa, Northern Spain. Au cours du XXe siecle, trois grands centres de recherche ont elabore des vocabulaires techniques. Beaucoup de textiles medievaux ne peuvent toutefois pas etre etudies directement avec ces grilles de lecture, trop contemporaines. Il est donc important de recourir aux sources medievales pour reinterroger le vocabulaire et affiner les definitions techniques. Ce compose a deja ete utilise dans certaines operations de restauration. A l’heure actuelle il n’y a pas de litterature traitant des processus d’echanges qui se produisent lorsque les resines sont appliquees en restauration. Comment choisir une resine echangeuse d’ions, quelles sont les reactions d’echange ? Dans cette etude, nous nous sommes interessees a l’elimination des carbonates de Cu en testant 2 resines anioniques et 2 resines cationiques.
