This paper deals with modeling and synchronization in high voltage grid connected photovoltaic (PV) generation system. The proposed configuration not only can generate and boost up the DC voltage, but can also convert the solar DC power into high quality AC power by means of PWM inverter for feeding into the grid. Further a double-tuned harmonic filter has been established here for power quality improvement. Simulation and experimental results are shown for voltage and current during synchronization mode to validate the methodology for grid connection of renewable resources. The total system is modeled using Sim-Power System blocks in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.","PeriodicalId":301088,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128248582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The international community is in search for mechanisms to abet climate change issues. Flexible mechanisms like Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) evaluate sustainable development contribution of the energy projects for granting financial assistance. In case of projects competing for same source of investment, a project having a higher positive contribution to sustainable development is given priority. In the absence of reliable data, the process is overwhelmingly qualitative and hence presents a bottleneck in the decision making process. The present study proposes multi-criteria decision making techniques for quantitative evaluation of sustainability. A set of sustainable development objectives and criteria are selected. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used for determination of criteria weights. Compromise Programming (CP) is used for comparing projects across criteria. Four registered CDM projects are used for illustrating the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":301088,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124611107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, the MRAS speed sensor for IFOC of an IMD is implemented using PIC. The PIC offers satisfactory performance under ideal operation. However, the PIC unable to work effectively under sudden change in speed or load torque disturbances which causes high ripples in the stator flux and electromagnetic torque, respectively. Therefore, the FLC is considered to improve the performance and minimize the error dynamics and ripple contents of stator flux and electromagnetic torque under different loading conditions. The FLC based adaptation scheme offers better dynamic as well as steady state performance and robustness to sudden change in speed and load torque disturbances, respectively. The performance of each adaptation control schemes are simulated for sudden change in speed and various load torque disturbances, respectively. A detailed comparison of different control schemes are carried out in a MATALB/Simulink environment in speed sensorless modes of operation, when a IMD is operating in forward and reversal motoring under no-load, load, sudden change in speed condition.","PeriodicalId":301088,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE)","volume":"312-315 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130846634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To study the dynamic response of the proposed system three different controllers namely conventional PID, Type-1 Fuzzy-PID & Type-2 Fuzzy-PID are used. The optimal gains of the aforementioned controllers are optimized by using a novel hybrid Differential Evolution-Particle Swarm Optimization (DEPSO) technique. Time domain objective function (ITAE) is used to determine the optimal parameters of the controllers. Step load perturbation (SLP) of 10% is applied in area1 to study the performance of different controllers. Finally it is observed that the T2FS controller i.e. Type-2 Fuzzy configuration performs better than the other two.","PeriodicalId":301088,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131984495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can lead to voltage instability when it faces further load increase or any contingency in the form of line outage or generator outage. In order to avoid voltage instability VAR compensating devices are employed. These are at optimal location and of optimal size which improve the load margin. This work aims at obtaining optimal size as well as location of compensation in the 39-bus New England system with the help of Bacteria Foraging optimisation and Genetic algorithms. To reduce the computational time the work identifies weak candidate buses in the system, and then picks only two of them to take part in the optimization. The objective function is based on a recently proposed voltage stability index which takes into account the weighted average sensitivity index is a simpler and faster approach than the conventional CPF algorithm. It presents the implementation of both model based and model free based control. SimMechanics is used for modelling of the robot which requires a little knowledge regarding the dynamics of the system. A robust SMC is designed with constant plus proportional rate reaching. Simulation is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of control strategies. Simulations' result reveals that control schemes are working satisfactorily. Control effort and degree of tracking for both the controllers are analyzed and compared.","PeriodicalId":301088,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129651306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
