Feasible Generalized Least Square method is utilized to estimate the coefficients of the model. The empirical findings of the study indicate that RGDP of Pakistan and trade partner and RER put out significant positive effect on the leather exports of Pakistan. While, geographical distance and TOIL exercise a significant negative impact on the leather exports. It is recommended that policy makers should try to engage in more trade activities with large economies and must also essay to actively participate in regional trade","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130087564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ARDL method is used to analyze time series data from 2000 to 2020. To measure financial inclusion, the study constructs an index using the number of depositors, financial institutions, ATMs, and borrowers. The credit to the private sector as a percentage of GDP is used to measure financial development, while inflation and real interest rate are included as additional variables. The findings of the study indicate that both financial inclusion and development have a significant effect on reducing poverty. In addition, the results show that inflation and real interest rate have a positive relationship with poverty. These findings suggest that the availability of financial services can lead to poverty reduction and overall societal welfare.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121859280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, Pseudo-Poison Maximum Likelihood (PPML) estimator with time and importer fixed effects has been applied to study adopted gravity model of manufacturing exports of Pakistan to its 65 major import partners over the period 2011-2018.The results show that technological innovation in both Pakistan and its importing partners positively and significantly affect Pakistan’s manufacturing exports. In addition, the outcomes of this study also confirm that the standard gravity variables are the important determinants of manufacturing exports. This article also adds to the existing literature by examining additional aspects of technological innovation. Second, this paper fills a research gap in Pakistan, as there has never been a study on the association between innovation and manufacturing exports. As a consequence, this study will open new avenues for future research.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133657878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study highlights the theoretical underpinning of the literature that focuses on the impact of oil prices on consumer spending in the context of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. In this study, the semi-structured interview was used to collect data from the general consumers. The consumer selection was based on the convenience sampling and survey questionnaires were distributed to 35 respondents in Johor Bahru. In addition, the data was collected from 30 respondents for feedback, and used 25 responses on the basis of complete information for analysis. Further, this study used the thematic analysis. The findings highlighted that the change in oil price have high impact on the lower and middle-income group consumers. On the other hand, high-income group consumers have little impact on the consumer spending. Furthermore, results of the study have important implications for future practice. It provides policy direction and practical implications to the organizations, consumers, and researchers. Based on research, the main focuses should be on the improvement of living standards of the average consumers as the oil prices influence on consumer spending to highlight their spending behavior. The coronavirus pandemic worsened the consumer spending all over the world (World Data Bank, 2020). Therefore, for future research work, it would be interesting to do research on plunge in oil prices and consider the measures implemented by Malaysian governments as lockdown are expected to reduce the consumer spending of Malaysian economy in 2020.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127667614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This international practice can either be analyzed through substitution effect (crowding-out) or complementary effect (crowding-in). The former discourages local investors due to competitive pressure while the latter impacts the demand of domestic suppliers. This study intends to explore whether FDI crowds out domestic investment or not. The study analyzed the FDI-led capital formation hypothesis considering the panel data of South Asian economies for the time span of 1991- 2021. The study has utilized the fixed effect, FMOLS and DOLS techniques to analyze the data using FDI inflows. The empirical evidence of the study affirms the crowding in effect for the selected South Asian economies, The study suggests that internationalization, financial inclusion and |macroeconomic stability are potential channels to foster domestic capital in South incl countries.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126609948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this connection, the research aim was to focus on health sector nurses of three hospitals of district Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the population which is equal to 1800. By using the simplified formula for proportions, Taro Yamane and the technique of Uma Sekaran (2012) were utilized to calculate the sample size as well as which is 317. However, 350 questionnaires were distributed due to a possible non-response rate. To avoid any biases, the probability-stratified sampling technique was used. Each hospital was considered as a separate stratum due to the inter-group heterogeneity and from each stratum, respondents were selected subject to their availability. Below is the brief information representing the name of hospitals and the number of nurses’ staff located in the district of Peshawar. The result of all three hypotheses indicated a statistically significant and positive association between workplace vigilantism, Turnover Intention, Work Mindfulness, and Change Oriented Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). The study was limited to health sector nurses with only three hospitals in Peshawar. In the future, research can have a moderating effect on perceived organizational support to strengthen the vigilante to work for the ultimate benefit of the organization.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128932457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the severity of the recent pandemic, this study looked at the returns of the investor attention index, Islamic bonds, and stock indexes in the occurrence of the ADS business condition index. Bivariate and multivariate wavelet analysis was employed on the daily data from January 2, 2020, to July 27, 2020. The study results indicate that before April 2020, there was a negative coherence between the investor attention index and the ADS, Islamic bonds, and stock returns. After that date, however, there is a positive relationship between the attention index and Islamic bonds. In addition, the relationship between investors’ attention and the ADS index shows both short-term and long-term correlations, but the long-term correlations are clearer. It has implications for household investors by empirically revealing the significance of Google trends for Islamic capital markets in the pre and during pandemic situation. Our results show that the way investors use the Google search engine is a key factor in how prices respond to new information.","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121791102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is considerable debate regarding the relative contribution of international migrant’s remittances to sustainable economic development. Remittances are considered as temporary income. If exchange rate remains stable, then remittances will help in curtailing income hurdles of households as well as for government and helps to increase investment in education. Investment in education increases skill level of labor force and create an environment for long term growth. We use panel data of 54 Asian countries for the period of 1980-2020 and employ Hausman test and percentile analysis. The paper concludes that remittances have a positive and significant impact on human capital. However, the substituting relationship of remittances and exchange rate is observed in stimulating human capital in Asian countries. The developing countries having low growth, when exchange rate is overvalued (appreciate), it is not only pushing the economy further toward slower growth due to decrease in foreign competitiveness, increase in the current account deficit and increase unemployment but also cause to decrease main source of earning remittances growth in these countries. Therefore, this study suggests that the government of developing country implements such policies that helps in the stabilization of their currencies (manage floating exchange rate).","PeriodicalId":300552,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Economics and Business Studies","volume":"2020 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133616322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
