Moreover, in both countries migrants from rural areas are mainly young people. Paradoxically, even urban young people —although in a minor quantity— consider rural areas to be an adequate place for the development of their professional careers. This is due to socioeconomic processes transforming rurality at present —agriculture technification, sectorial diversification, institutional decentralisation, consolidation of development governance structures— and the consequent symbolic valorisation of rurality. In this context, the paper presents the preliminary results of a research about the role education plays in securing the sustainability of rural population by providing favourable prospects and job placement opportunities in these areas; or in an opposite sense, encouraging young people to employ their qualifications elsewhere. For this purpose, we are making use of a quantitative and qualitative methodology in a structural sample of institutes in different territories and levels (vocational training, pre-university and university). The main goal is connecting the institutional and structural characteristics of education centres and places with the expectations of different categories of young people according to their social features. The preliminary field work shows how mobility allows the young people to go beyond the rural–urban divide in their education, although often conditioned by their social origin and gender. El objetivo de estos viajes era encontrar sitios idóneos para ampliar los proyectos de investigación nutricional que la fundación filantrópica tenía en nuestro país. Estos viajes nos sirven como punto de partida para mostrar las formas en cómo el trabajo de la Fundación puede ser analizado como misionero, y apunta a otros actores importantes en este proceso, los intermediarios necesarios para producir estos viajes. Su objetivo fundamental es mostrar la fecundidad de las elecciones metodológicas que subyacen a esta empresa colectiva. Para ello, haré ver cómo los trabajos que integran este número permiten superar la oposición entre historia conceptual e historia social. Asimismo, estos trabajos nos permiten reflexionar acerca de cómo evolucionan términos como “misión” de tal suerte que sus cambios semánticos no necesariamente implican rupturas absolutas en las lógicas o dinámicas sociales que nombra. The secularization of colonial missions preserved their focus on fact —finding, diagnosis, advising and ultimately transformation, while acquiring new traits during the decolonization of large portions of the world. Numerous colonial agents now became part of the newly created United Nations’ specialized agencies, bringing with them administrative practices and modes of operation that had been put in place in the previous period. Nevertheless, the new missions required the active participation of so-called recipient countries that took place in a context of manifest new values. En este marco el impulso a estas líneas de investigación ha estado ligado desde el principio a la relevancia de los recursos fitogenéticos frente a la fractura metabólica introducida por la agricultura industrial. La expedición botánica y la misión agronómica aparecen como dos momentos de un mismo movimiento dialéctico. Dependiendo de las características de la apropiación que se da en el primer momento, se construyen misiones con rasgos particulares. En este trabajo se exploran los rasgos de dos tradiciones divergentes y por momentos contrapuestas en el estudio de los recursos agrobiológicos. Sostengo que la expedición botánica como apropiación, paso previo al de la misión extensionista, responde a y es hecha posible por el propio proceso de acumulación de capital. En contraste, la tradición vaviloviana que busca comprender e origen histórico de la agrobiodiversidad como producto del metabolismo sociedad-naturaleza, abre un intersticio o grieta hacia otra forma posible, que permita trascender la dominación implícita en el extensionismo. {"title":"La secularización como un discurso de “misión”: una mirada desde el feminismo crítico y los feminismos descoloniales","authors":"Andrea Meza Torres","doi":"10.22201/CEIICH.24485705E.2021.24.78462","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22201/CEIICH.24485705E.2021.24.78462","url":null,"abstract":"| This article starts by exposing a sharp critique of the secularization discourse through the main arguments of Joan Wallach Scott’s book Sex and Secularism. Here, the feminist author criticizes this process as a power discourse which does not correspond to historical facts; moreover, Scott argues that the equality of the sexes was never at the heart of the process of secularization. The author shows that this discourse is based on a dichotomical thinking which, nowadays, has generated the dichotomy “(western) gender equality and sexual freedom” versus “islam”. This dichotomy, based on the image superiority/inferiority, supports geopolitical aims which are associated with the colonization of the peripheries. Therefore, it can be associated to the discourse of the colonial “mission” and its continuity. In the second part of this article, I present three decolonial thinkers: Arzu Merali, Houria Bouteldja and Sirin Adlbi Sibai who, from Muslim and/or Arab societies within the Global North, express a critique toward western (white) feminism and the secularization process associated with it. The aim of this article is to show points of convergence between a feminist, critical voice which emerged within the western academic field —and which gave an important turn— and women’s voices who have been systematically silenced in western academia. Moreover, beyond the critique of secularization from within the western academia, this article aims to show alternative proposals from the global peripheries which do not see the discourse of secularization as a way out of oppression. En el primer periodo voy a destacar el rol que tuvo el cura vicentino frances Emmanuel Domenech. Y en el segundo, a fines del siglo XIX, abordare la mision que el jesuita belga Aquiles Gerste llevo a cabo en la Tarahumara por encargo de la Junta colombina de Mexico. Un primer momento, en su calidad de solicitantes y un segundo, en su itinerancia, ya como misioneros. A traves de las cartas indipetae los estudiosos han profundizado en la subjetividad de los candidatos, reconociendo la indiferencia y el martirio como valores centrales en su formacion religiosa. Estas cartas fueron enviadas por los jovenes a sus superiores con el fin de ser elegidos misioneros. Sin embargo, incluso en su itinerancia podemos reconocer el despliegue de otros saberes practicos y cientificos, igualmente relevantes en la trayectoria de los misioneros. En este caso hemos elegido el septentrion novohispano, una region en la que podemos reconocer como los misioneros echaron mano de sus conocimientos cartograficos y de historia natural, ademas de su inclinacion al aprendizaje de otras lenguas.
