This paper present a novel shot boundary detection algorithm based on K-means clustering. At first the feature of color is extracted, the dissimilarity of video frames is defined .Then the video frames are divided into several different sub-clusters through performing K-means clustering. It can detect cut and gradual shot by the adaptive double threshold of different sub-clusters. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is extensively tested on movie, news and other videos. The experiments results indicate the method had a high accurate rate in both cut shot detection and gradual shot detection.","PeriodicalId":299461,"journal":{"name":"2010 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129541891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When termination conditions are met, complex method is used to get the final result. Experiment has been conducted to validate the propoesd algorithm by taking optimization formula system as an example. A traditional lesson plan is constructed manually by a teacher with great efforts and difficult to be generated automatically. In this research, we proposed an intelligent agent system able to recommend a personalized lesson plan by using methods in constraint satisfaction problems and negotiation. The constraints consist of teaching goals, teaching time, student abilities, classroom resources and teacher's preference, whereas the recommendation by negotiation system can assist a teacher user to find the coordinated solution under minimum constraint relaxation when no exact solution can be found.","PeriodicalId":299461,"journal":{"name":"2010 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126991874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The engines are assumed to be implemented as composite web services. Current architectures for workflow engines do not make any considerations for substituting faulty web services with correct ones at run time. The difficulty is to rollback the execution state of the workflow engine to its state before the invocation of the faulty web service. To achieve this, three components for fault diagnosis, recording the execution state of the workflow and substitution of faulty web services, at run time, are considered in our proposed architecture. The applicability of the proposed architecture is practically evaluated by applying it to design three different scientific workflow engines.","PeriodicalId":299461,"journal":{"name":"2010 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123937677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous research indicates that involvement with modeling scientific phenomena and complex systems can play a powerful role in science learning. Some researchers argue with this view indicating that models and modeling do not contribute to understanding complexity concepts, since these increase the cognitive load on students. This study will investigate the effect of different modes of involvement in exploring scientific phenomena using computer modeling tools, on students' understanding of complexity concepts. Quantitative and qualitative methods are used to report about 121 freshmen students that engaged in participatory simulations about complex phenomena, showing emergent, self organized and decentralized patterns. Results show that Learning-by-Modeling (LbM) plays a major role in students' concept formation about complexity concepts.","PeriodicalId":299461,"journal":{"name":"2010 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123945363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, hard conditions such as the distance and angle variations as well as weather and light conditions are considered. For training the neural network, we collected the training images using the Zernike moment when the camera was not in the magnification state and the test images when the camera was in zooming state. The comparison was made between the proposed algorithm and the previous methods in character recognition like SVM and classical TDNN. The algorithms have been evaluated using 50 license plate images with magnification of 8. The recognition rate obtained by the proposed algorithm was 70%.","PeriodicalId":299461,"journal":{"name":"2010 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116314569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
