To resolve this issue, cognitive radio networks are proposed. Cognitive Radios are intelligent adaptable devices which intelligently sense the spectrum and find out spectrum holes. In this paper, a Token based MAC protocol is proposed for cognitive radio wireless mesh networks. This protocol consists of three phases namely sensing, control channel operation, and data channel operation. The proposed MAC protocol is simulated in NS2 and the simulation results are analyzed using network throughput under various number of channels. The simulation results indicate that the proposed MAC protocol outperforms the existing protocols.","PeriodicalId":299228,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC)","volume":"59 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120921470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides the common Poisson arrival traffic model, some bursty traffic models, e.g. the Interrupted Poisson Process (IPP) and the On-Off Process, are also taken into account. The total power consumption and delay performance are analyzed. Especially, for the bursty traffic model, we explore the impact of traffic burstiness on the total power consumption and delay performance. Moreover, based on the delay tail distribution analysis, the delay-constrained total power minimization problem is solved, which provides the optimal energy-delay tradeoff performance.","PeriodicalId":299228,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132914116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the route discovery phase of the proposed method, a node with the minimum packet transmission delay to the current node is selected as its next hop node. After a route is set up, other nodes in the network will also send packets to the sink through the already established route, which greatly reduces the amount of time and energies spent to build a new route to send the packets. As a result, the real-time data will arrive at the destination earlier and the network lifetime will be extended. To handle the case of node failure on the established route, the proposed RER protocol includes a route recovery scheme that a new node will be selected instead of the failure node to continue the packet transmission. Through simulations, the proposed RER protocol is shown to outperform the traditional routing protocols in terms of average end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, and average energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":299228,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115481166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we observe a unique intercell interference issue which is caused when employing the two-way relaying in a multicell system. To circumvent this uplink interference problem, we consider a fractional frequency reuse. We evaluate the performance of the decode-and-forward two-way relaying in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing multicell two-way relay network. In particular, the direct communication without relaying is also taken into account for the cell-center sector. Under this scenario, relay parameters such as the transmit power and position are optimized through numerical simulations to maximize the cell-throughput. In the simulations, a practical environment is considered, such as non-zero transition beam width for the cell-sectorization.","PeriodicalId":299228,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC)","volume":"87 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123010591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the load, 3GPP proposes the offloading solutions such as local IP access (LIPA) and selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO). For offloading algorithm, there are many related works based on the LIPA/SIPTO but some research works beyond the LIPA/SIPTO. However, these related works don't consider network utilization. Thus, this paper proposes a new offloading algorithm that decides the offloading ratio based on the network utilization and offloading preference.
