Linked open data technology suggest to rethink access to digital cultural heritage resources and their dissemination in different contexts. This paper presents the results of project to develop learning Repository and annotation tool to increase the content of cultural heritage according to needs of teachers. The Educational Platform was developed to disseminate multimedia cultural content inside of classroom through Open access data modality to sharing museum resources and to making multimedia lessons. The tools developed provide museum information to share with teachers who can reuse and re-contextualize them in their multimedia lessons and create educational environments to improve engagement and student learning. This approach may be very interesting to adopt new strategy of promoting cultural heritage in other contexts such as lifelong learning and tourism. In this way the museum object becomes a tool for teaching, new learning environments will be created and relationship between museum staff and education context will be improved.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"479 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123396130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although SOA-based applications have many advantages, they are also highly error-prone. To improve the availability and reliability of SOA-based systems and applications, a Reliable Service Environment RESERVE, providing an external support of web services recovery has been proposed. In this paper we focus on RESTful web services, based on Representational State Transfer (REST) paradigm, and propose the enhancement of RESERVE service that allows to decrease the overhead introduced by RESERVE due to taking advantage of REST characteristics.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115755568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our aim is to discover new ways of filling questionnaires by web users, using intelligent information gathering system (IIGS) in relation to the dissemination of cultural content. Our approach is two folded, on one set we have to develop new “questioning techniques”, which will increase response rates, and on the other side use the most appropriate analytical methods in measuring effectiveness of a questioning technique and methods of comparing various technique.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126281974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been used in many studies for tumor classification and of identification of marker genes associated with cancer. However, this technique often suffers the `curse of dimensionality'. A general approach to overcome this setback is to perform feature selection technique prior to classification. Biomarkers have long been used for the prognosis and diagnosis of different types of diseases. The need for new and more specific biomarkers for leukemia arises. In this study gene selection was approached first using gene filtering by determining the expressions inter-quartile ranges (IQR) of the genes and determining whether or not they are differentially expressed across the different sample types by using the Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance (ANOVA). Filtered genes were then subjected to k-means clustering algorithm to identify candidate genes that can be used to discriminate the four main types of leukemia (ALL, AML, CLL, CML) and non-leukemia (NoL) bone marrow samples. The selected genes were then used to build classification models using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) learning algorithms. Forty samples were used to build the models and 20 samples were used to assess the models performance. A minimum of 6 genes was found to be needed to correctly classify all samples in the training dataset into the five categories and to classify the samples in the validation dataset with high accuracy.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126125335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the new algorithm, called Genetic-AIRS, is a combination of the Artificial Immune Resource System (AIRS) algorithm with well-known evolutionary computation techniques. As a result, Genetic-AIRS is executed globally, in contrast with AIRS which is executed locally. We compare to AIRS and identify advantages and disadvantages of Genetic-AIRS and perform an experimental evaluation on various publicly available datasets.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"IM-30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126623491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, since such scanned scenes tend to be extremely detailed and consist of large volumes of data, browsing them can become a long, burdensome experience. While a number of progressive streaming approaches for 3D graphics have been proposed in the past, such methods tend to require a radical restructuring of the original data in order to be streamed to a web client. We implement a platform for 3D scenes that can stream any model encoded in declarative X3DOM format without further pre-processing. We explore a number of state-of-the-art web technologies for model transmission, and compare them to the typical methods used until now. We present the advantages of each, and lay the groundwork for further extensions to our approach, towards a large-scale platform for the smooth streaming distribution of detailed 3D scenes to a large number of clients, without needing to destroy the original model Web3D format.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"2002 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128098315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The World Cancer Research Fund International estimated that in 2012, 1.8 million new cases of this disease were diagnosed. Early diagnosis and classification of this condition prompts medical professionals on safer and more effective treatment of the patient. Availability of microarray technology has paved the way to exploring the genes and its association in various diseases like lung cancer. This study utilized genetic algorithm as a method of feature (genes) selection for the support vector machine and artificial neural network to classify lung cancer status of a patient. Genetic algorithm (GA) successfully identified genes that classify patient lung cancer status with notable predictive performance.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128590231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, virtual Corfu (v-Corfu) is presented, i.e., a virtual world consisting of historical buildings, monuments and other existing sites characteristic of the city of Corfu, transformed into virtual sites (v-sites). A possible way of implementing v-Corfu as an education enhancer tool is explored here, focusing on the ability to promote the study of the city's history, highlight its culture and increase its attractiveness to interested potential visitors (e.g., students, tourists) or even its inhabitants. By exploiting the fact that most of these sites represented in v-Corfu do exist in the city, the aim is to further improve education by playing in the duality of both worlds. This is achieved by (i) projecting movie-like virtual tours (v-tours) consisting of parts of v-Corfu next to the real ones; and (ii) by having avatars of important historical persons participating in v-Corfu and walking nearby places that used to be their whereabouts in times long past. Both v-sites and avatars have the capability, through special virtual assistants (v-assistants), to provide the viewers with pieces of information related with the particular site or the person represented by the avatar.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132881711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new classifier architecture based on multiresolution wavelet network learnt by fast wavelet transform including a fuzzy decision support system (FWN-FDSS). The proposed classifier has many advantages compared to other ones. It is characterized by its new method of computing similarity distances and his way of decision-making which operates a human reasoning mode. Comparisons with other classifiers are presented and discussed. Obtained results have shown that the new classifier performs better than previously established ones.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130606101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
