Such challenges may be addressed, among others, by optimizing voyage plans, and diagnosing as early as possible engine failures that may lead to performance degradation. These two procedures require a continuous stream of information acquired from a number of diverse sensors. Frequently, beside central storage and transmission of such information, it is necessary to provide an agile and robust infrastructure which will allow local storage and ad hoc input and manipulation of information, via a user-friendly interface. Our proposed intelligent data acquisition and transmission platform provides an efficient, scalable and low-cost approach.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"211-212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117342615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A vital requirement for this kind of investigations is the availability of ground truth datasets. Currently, there are 2 freely available datasets of emotionally annotated sounds, which, however, do not include sound evenets (SEs) with manifestation of the spatial location of the source. The latter is an inherent natural component of SEs, since all sound sources in real-world conditions are physically located and perceived somewhere in the listener's surrounding space. In this work we present a novel emotionally annotated sounds dataset consisting of 32 SEs that are spatially rendered using appropriate binaural processing. All SEs in the dataset are available in 5 spatial positions corresponding to source/receiver angles equal to 0, 45, 90, 135 and 180 degrees. We have used the IADS dataset as the initial collection of SEs prior to binaural processing. The annotation measures obtained for the novel binaural dataset demonstrate a significant accordance with the existing IADS dataset, while small ratings declinations illustrate a perceptual adaptation imposed by the more realistic SEs spatial representation.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127484871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operation principle of the proposed spatial filter is predicated on the principles of the cross pattern coherence, which is a parametric spatial filtering technique that uses coherence-based measures as a criterion for focusing on specific directions. In this work, the choice of the directional microphones is performed according to the microphone array specifications. A spatial filter is then calculated and assigns attenuation values to the output of a beamformer. In the experimental validation, where a room simulation is used to generate a virtual recording scenario, the spatial filter provides an improvement in terms of interference suppression over conventional beamforming.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115903370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research investigates the attitudes of local communities of Western Greece towards renewable energy and documents the existence of distinct household groups. Data were collected from 201 households via a questionnaire. Respondents were either young or around 40 to 50 years of age, mostly university or high school graduates, with a family income less than 5000 euros. Principal Components were extracted from household attitudes towards renewable energy projects. Cluster analysis revealed two clusters based on key demographic variables (age, years of education and average income) and principal component scores. The first cluster contained respondents who were older, less educated and economically weaker; the second contained younger, better educated and higher income respondents. Members of the better-off cluster thought that they were more aware of renewable energy, felt stronger about its future role in the energy mix and were more optimistic regarding its impacts; on the other hand, they were more cognizant of bureaucratic, economic and technical factors that could hinder its development.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123961219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many areas of human daily life have been mutated. New socioeconomic Systems have appeared. A variety of sensitive areas, such as Defense, Health and Education, have been influenced. The structure of modern Systems became more complicated. Moreover, the Areas, where they operate, became more hostile. This Irregularity allowed the appearance of a huge number of dangers, which threat the Systems. It is essential to predict the dangers that an Information System has to face due to its importance. The aim of this paper is to study the dangers that threat an information system to collapse. Firstly, the structure of the modern western economical business organizations is presented. Secondly, the lack of security, and the dangers that they have to face during their operation are analyzed. In addition, an analysis of the potential risk that a digitalized business operation, which is supported by electronic means and the lack of methods of minimizing danger, is presented. Furthermore, a model of minimizing the recovery cost of a materialized threat will be presented based on the Assignment Problem. Finally, the cost of a crisis will be calculated presenting a formula of estimating the potential loss of data.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122108593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper underlines characteristics of a group of products with a lot of assortments, mostly seen in the food retail industry. The ice dessert scenario is used to motivate the need for a digital facilitator because paper menus or physical displays are not able to showcase every possible combination of flavors and toppings. In order to get the design, a task analysis is performed and interaction requirements are acknowledged according to the interaction design principle. The prototype, which comprises of an iOS AR application and a web application, is developed. The ice flavors and toppings are augmented over the real cone/cup by the customer himself. The customer is able to see what he will get with his order as it is shown in real-time on the mobile screen before he can then order the preferred combination from the smartphone and the parlor will receive it through the web application. The interactive nature of the application assists not only in completing the purchase efficiently and effectively, but also in enhancing overall customer experiences, and attracting more customers.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125046525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
