These circulating currents damage the motor bearings, increasing the overall maintenance costs. This paper analyzes the influence of motor design parameters in motor bearing currents amplitude and proposes different alternatives to eliminate them. Among the alternatives proposed in this paper, different types of shunt passive filters, and link reactors are analyzed, and also the influence of the resistance of the rotor bars are studied. Experimental results obtained in a laboratory prototype prove the viability of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed compensating alternatives.","PeriodicalId":298625,"journal":{"name":"ISIE'2000. This paper describes an investigation of multiphase excitation modes of a five-phase 10/8 SRM with short-flux path in the case of more practical phase-current waveforms. For the purpose of maximizing the average electromagnetic torque of the SRM, the phase torque and instantaneous torque of the SRM are analyzed and simulated corresponding to typical excitation modes. From these simulations, an effective approach for average torque maximization at any given speed is proposed in terms of maximization of the average phase torque in one electrical cycle by choosing optimal turn-on and turn-off angles. Many earlier proposed methods suffer from the problems of the open loop integration by analogue technique and parameter sensitivity. Nowadays the computing power provided mainly by the digital signal processors, makes it possible to overcome these problems by implementing and improving the previously proposed methods on a sophisticated hardware. In this paper a simple, easily implementable method is presented for the sensorless control of induction motor drive. Using the induction machine equations (state equations), it is based on a combined model, derived from the usual models of the induction machine. The terminal voltage and current of the machine should be measured for speed calculation. By the proposed model not only the speed, but one of the motor parameters can be estimated. A simple method is derived for the rotor resistance on-line identification. The problems of the practical implementation are investigated.","PeriodicalId":298625,"journal":{"name":"ISIE'2000. The promising simple high-efficient low noise inverter type electromagnetic induction eddy-current based pipeline fluid heating appliance is proposed for a saturated steam generator, superheated steam generator, hot water and hot air producer and metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engines. Under this technological background, a novel electromagnetic induction eddy-current dual packs heater (DPH) based pipeline fluid heating incorporates thin metal layer type package for continuous fluid heating appliances applying two types of voltage-fed quasi-load resonant ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter. The information structure can take two forms: (a) decentralized control with disjoint information structure, or maybe called nonoverlapping decomposition structure, and (b) decentralized control with overlapping decomposition. The paper discusses the controller design guidelines with the mutual interaction analysis for these forms of control structure. The paper discusses the controller design guidelines for decentralized web tension control system with the aid of some forms of interaction measures and the modeling concept. We first suggest how to determine the subsystems used for controller design. The analysis contains four ways for evaluating the interactions, which cover two concepts of stability and output error behind the formulations. The electromechanical coupling coefficient k/sub 33/, elastic coefficient s/sub 33//sup D/ and piezoelectric coefficient d/sub 33/ are determined using dynamic (resonant) and static methods of measurement. Strain vs. electric field characteristic with low hysteresis was observed for this single crystal. Design of an actuator of small displacements is presented. The integration possibilities of electromechanical elements into a high degree integration density (VLSI) circuits and creation of the micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) are mentioned. As the cardinal B-spline consists of a Riesz base, we can define its conjugate function definitely. In this paper, we propose a calculation method of the conjugate function by the inverse finite Fourier transform. Using the conjugate scaling function given by the numerical data table, we calculate a finite expansion series in a nested subspace of the multiresolution analysis generated by the scaling function. In particular; we can show that the Gibbs' phenomenon is not aroused at the discontinuity points of a function. Next, we define a several order differential filter from the wavelet expansion formula by the property of the cardinal B-spline. Using these differential filters, we propose an identification method of a transfer function. The main goal of the system is to obtain unity power factor, sinusoidal input currents and constant output voltage with a cheap design. The system chooses the switching patterns and their duty cycles on the basis of the output voltage error using a fuzzy logic feed-forward input currents controller. More in detail, it calculates the switching vector reference and determines the converter duty cycles pattern. The traditional industrial solution to obtain acceptable characteristics for tracking and process regulation consists to find a compromise point for both two situations, or in advanced regulators, to adopt a simple two degrees of freedom PID control, whose parameters are fixed by auto-tuning. But when plant parameters vary strongly this auto-tuning algorithm have to be continuously started. In those cases, this work proposes a single self-tuning PID control method with a simple adaptation mechanism. The controller is based in a novel fuzzy adaptation method that changes the parameters of an standard PID controller, concretely integral constant K/sub I/, for adapting it to the plant evolution according to the dynamics of the system. This fuzzy logic adaptive strategy has been readily implemented, with very fast learning features and very good tracking characteristics. The developed controller has been also compared with other classical controls, and experimental results demonstrate the robustness of the suggested algorithm in contending with varying load and torque disturbance.","PeriodicalId":298625,"journal":{"name":"ISIE'2000.
