This reflection is a process of recalling memories, extending the analysis, and simultaneously offering new and evolving questions and affective connections through responses to photographs from a cross-cultural study with disabled children.","PeriodicalId":295552,"journal":{"name":"Cultural and Pedagogical Inquiry","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126067477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I take up Braidotti’s (2019, 2020) theoretical figurations of nomadic subjectivity, politics of location, and new materialism to Carter's (2022) reconciliatory praxis and auto-phenomenology, and Lecoq’s (2000) physical training for actors called the neutral mask to do this. I argue that the entanglement of these threads of theory and practice in the form of professional development for teachers prior to EDIB training provides them with an embodied experience of dis/identification that may help them perceive instances of inequity, racism, exclusion, and isolation that they otherwise might not have seen.","PeriodicalId":295552,"journal":{"name":"Cultural and Pedagogical Inquiry","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126081213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In it, I follow a project in which trainee teachers and a community garden volunteer group engage photography and poetry to connect with each other in cross community-education spaces. As I think through the shared visual and material mementos, I document a discomfort that emerges as I remember these encounters and reflect on their entanglement with philosophical posthuman and feminist new materialist ideas. The paper will support other education researchers to traverse the use of these philosophical ideas in praxis.","PeriodicalId":295552,"journal":{"name":"Cultural and Pedagogical Inquiry","volume":"156 1-2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132173369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article will outline how Human Capital Theory and neoliberal logic can reveal how specific ways of demonstrating learning are privileged in practice.
