It provides an intuitive developing environment and a vast library of common components for both digital and analog circuits. In addition it has a collection of different types of motor models which designers can use to test their driving circuit designs. For the case of switched reluctance motor drives, the library provides two motor models: the first one is a 3 phase SRM with a linear and non-saturable inductance profile, and the second one a 3 phase SRM with a non-linear and saturable inductance profile. Although these two models can provide a rough estimation on how the system will perform, they have a few shortcomings that will make more accurate analysis difficult. Although it's possible to use external programs such as simulink/matlab to aid in motor modeling and simulation[5], the switched reluctance motors have certain properties that make this capability quite unusable. This paper presents an alternative and more accurate motor model for use in the simulation of an SRM system. It utilizes the built-in components from PSIM, most importantly the C-block element, and some external parameter files generated by external C programs. In this way no other software is needed to design and simulate the complete system. Simulation results show that the new model can provide a more accurate simulation result for the complete drive and motor system.","PeriodicalId":288978,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Power Electronics Systems and Applications","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124675571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First of all, SR motor convertor designed for soft chopping is chosen. This converter as well as producing less torque ripple, provides more degrees of freedom for SR motor drive controller. A PID controller and a switching algorithm for turn-on and turn-off degree of each phase of motor form speed control loop of SR motor drive. The primary parameters of controller are achieved by try and error. But eventually an optimization algorithm to reach the goals and constraints in different set points is defined and its parameters are optimized with a Genetic Algorithm (GA). This algorithm optimized the turn-on and turn-off degrees of each phase, the parameters of PID controller in transient state, and parameters of PID controller that considered for reducing the torque ripple in steady state. Also, GA simultaneously obtains the optimum parameters of three nonlinear gains considered for fuzzy switching between the two PID controllers. The proposed control algorithm was simulated using MATLAB / Simulink software package and an application example of 8/6 SRM to validate the performance of designed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":288978,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Power Electronics Systems and Applications","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123958134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new method allows the sharing of the IGBT bridge to the switched reluctance motors winding, thus it significantly reduce by half of the component cost. The proposed converter topology is a variation of the conventional asymmetric bridge converter for switched reluctance motor drives. However, utilization of switch modules is enhanced considerably. The requirements of switched reluctance motor drives on converters and the operation of the proposed converter are analyzed and discussed. Furthermore, the simulation and experimental results confirm the feasibility of the proposed converter.","PeriodicalId":288978,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Conference on Power Electronics Systems and Applications","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132317632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method estimates grid voltage on the basis of the DC side voltage and switching function, and makes it as a feed forward compensation to realize direct current decoupling control. Modulated by SVPWM, the motor regenerative braking energy could feedback to the grid with higher power factor, good robustness, small harmonic pollution and fast dynamic response. Meanwhile, the DC side voltage maintains constant in feedback process. Therefore, the method can reduce the cost of energy feedback device and achieve the purpose of energy conservation.
