Zo blijkt uit onderzoek dat ongeveer een kwart van autistische vrouwen een klinisch niveau van een eetstoornis rapporteert. Andersom wordt hetzelfde patroon gezien: mensen met anorexia rapporteren gemiddeld meer autistische kenmerken dan mensen zonder anorexia. Het is nog onduidelijk of die autistische kenmerken van anorexia een gevolg zijn van uithongering, of ook aanwezig blijven na herstel. Sommige studies laten een verbetering zien in cognitieve fl exibiliteit en sociaal functioneren na herstel van anorexia.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"100 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134092376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autistic participants (12.3%) more oft en had autistic partners than participants without autism (7%). Autistic women more oft en had autistic partners (14.5%) than autistic men (9.1%). Autistic traits were not predictive of having an autistic partner. Within the autism group, there was no association between having a partner with or without autism and relationship satisfaction.On the contrary, this association between relationship satisfaction and the diagnosis of the partner was found to be present within the control group. More research is needed to investigate partner resemblance and its potential consequences.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127238754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data from 222 children (mean age 7.8 years) and their primary caregivers, previously collected as part of the Social Spectrum Study, were analyzed. Linear regression analyses were used to investigate the association between experienced parenting stress and the influence of parents’ own ASD characteristics, taking into account relevant covariates. This study shows that the experienced parenting stress does not show a significant relationship with the ASD characteristics of parents when relevant covariates (such as own psychiatric problems, ASD characteristics of the child and the partner relationship) are added. This study finds indications that parenting stress in parents of children with ASD appears to be more strongly related to their general perceived psychopathology than to their specific ASD characteristics. Further replication is warranted, and we advise research into interventions for parents that possibly prevent (further) stress associated with raising a child with ASD (characteristics).","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131134726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By testing adults with and without autism on a newly developed task, we found further evidence of differences in spontaneous mentalizing in autism, which could be linked to a decreased activation of the right temporo-parietal junction (rTPJ). The rTPJ appears to be crucial for mentalizing, and for social differences in autism. It is highly recommended to further test this in future studies.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115409073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By the use of homework assignments and parallel parent sessions the generalization of skills enhanced. The results of this randomized controlled trial show that social skills significantly improved, as indicated by both selfand parent reports. However, the significant increase in observed social skills as observed in the PEERS® condition was as large as the increase observed in the active control condition. De keuring kan op advies van de psychiater aangevuld worden met een rijtest, maar deze is sinds 2021 niet meer verplicht. Er zijn nog weinig wetenschappelijke studies verricht naar de rijvaardigheden en rijervaringen van mensen met autisme. Is er enig bewijs dat bestuurders met autisme autorijden lastiger vinden of risicovoller rijgedrag laten zien in vergelijking met niet-autistische bestuurders? En als er verschillen zijn, waar ligt dat dan aan? Executieve functies zoals de aandacht vasthouden of flexibel omgaan met veranderende omstandigheden zijn relevante vaardigheden in het verkeer, en sommige mensen met autisme hebben moeite met een of meerdere executieve functies. In 2020 publiceerden Patrick en collega’s een studie naar het verband tussen executieve functies en de rijvaardigheden van autistische jongvolwassenen. Zij onderzochten bij 48 autistische en 48 niet-autistische deelnemers het vermogen om midden op de rijbaan te blijven rijden en de juiste rijsnelheid aan te houden in een rijsimulator. Beide groepen ‘reden’ achtereenvolgens een trainingsrondje, een route zonder afleiding, en reden daarna dezelfde route met afleidende taken zoals het afstemmen van de radio of een gesprek. Daarnaast werden verschillende executieve functietaken bij de deelnemers afgenomen. De groepen waren vergelijkbaar wat betreft hun leeftijd (16-26 jaar), de verdeling van mannen/vrouwen (hoofdzakelijk mannen) en het aantal mensen met/zonder rijbewijs (minderheid had een rijbewijs).","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"376 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120890915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and PsycInfo for intervention studies evaluating treatment effects for patients with concurrent diagnoses of ASD and OCD. The search yielded 6594 articles of which after sequential checks of duplicates, title, abstract and full text, eight articles could be included. One study concerned a RCT, four were before-after studies with a control group, and three remaining studies were before-after studies without a control group. All studied the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which appears to be generally effective in treatment of OCD in people with ASD. Further research is needed to determine whether ASD specific CBT protocols are more effective in reducing OCD symptoms than regular CBT.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124858758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Elk kind heeft immers recht op onderwijs, en zou een school niet ook een afspiegeling moeten zijn van de samenleving? Hoewel inclusief onderwijs een nobel streven is, en in sommige gevallen ook succesvol, zorgt inclusief en passend onderwijs ook voor de nodige uitdagingen. Leerkrachten geven aan niet altijd over de kennis en expertise te beschikken om goed les te kunnen geven aan kinderen met autisme. Leerlingen met autisme lopen een hoger risico om gepest of om buitengesloten te worden. Dit kan ouders ertoe bewegen om op thuisonderwijs over te stappen. In Nederland is thuisonderwijs, zonder COVID-19-pandemie, ongebruikelijk en vrijwel alleen mogelijk na een vrijstelling van de leerplicht, maar in veel andere landen zoals Engeland mogen ouders hun kinderen thuis lesgeven. Aan de hand van een systematische literatuurstudie onderzochten O’Hagan en collega’s (2021) de ervaringen van ouders die hun kind met autisme thuis onderwijzen. Zij beschrijven tien relevante studies, die allemaal uitgevoerd zijn in Engeland, Australië en de Verenigde Staten.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130930233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This does not only pertain to events meeting the DSM-5 PTSD A criterion for trauma such as assault and abuse but also to seemingly less shocking adverse events such as bullying. In clinical practice, PTSD and other trauma and stressor-related patterns of complaints often remain undetected and therefore untreated. A limiting factor is that it is not common use to systematically investigate a patient’s trauma history routinely. Further, trauma-related complaints show a lot of overlap with other disorders, in particular anxiety and mood disorders, as well as overlap with characteristics of ASD. In addition, until now validated assessment tools for trauma in individuals with ASD are missing. Finally, the application of standard trauma treatment protocols is often hindered by ASD-related problems. Research into the applicability and effectiveness of trauma treatment for ASD is still in its infancy. In this paper, research findings and clinical experiences regarding assessment and treatment of trauma in individuals with ASD are shared to contribute to the prevention of long-term serious trauma-related mental health problems and to underpin the need for further research on this topic.","PeriodicalId":283749,"journal":{"name":"Wetenschappelijk Tijdschrift Autisme","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127612717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
