Amplitude and phase of each station are then compared to calculate the differences. Differences in voltage amplitudes affect the amount of reactive power flow. The active power flow is influenced by differences in the voltage phasors. The system operators utilize amplitude, phase and frequency of the voltage to monitor the power flow and stability conditions. This paper proposes to create a Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) for the comparison of phase angles in the power system and that can measure and record voltage, current and frequency of the system. The PDC has been the time form the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU). The PMU synchronizes time using Global Positioning System (GPS). This guarantees that the electrical values are measured exactly at the same time and that the differences of phasor of more than two points can be compared. This paper is divided into two parts, the first part is the simulation. The model is simulated using the PSCAD / EMTDC. The other part will be the installation. The actual value of the power station, two stations with the results.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121270598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example falls and theft invasion. The Home Healthcare and Security System is designed to protect the welfare of the elderly and the chronic illness patience. Nevertheless, the obvious security system requires the recording function to run for 24 hours then the recorded clips is saved in a tapes viewed by the operator to review the house conditions. This consumes a large amount of memory and human resources are needed to maintain and send the recorded clip the law enforcement body in case the break-in has previously occurred. In addition, they often stay alone in result that others weren't notified if anything abnormal happened to them. There were cases that the elderly was found dead in their own home after attacked by falls or disease (heart attack, stroke or others) without timely rescue. The outcome is to design and develop a home safety monitoring system that enable the elderly or chronically ill to stay independently in their own home with care facilities. Besides, the memory capacity and the energy saving are also the consideration of the system.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"62 Suppl 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130023770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By sorting the types of the inspection robots they can be divided into several groups according to their locomotion. Each prototype has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on its design requirements and purpose of inspection. The prototypes have been tested in several experiments in order to verify its functionality and efficiency of inspection task. Some of the researchers ran simulations to validate the kinematic and modeling the mechanism of their own prototype. Hence, cognitive radio technology is introduced with the ability of allowing secondary users (SUs) to share a band of spectrum which is not fully exploited by the primary users (PUs). Power control is one of the main components in green cognitive radio technology, not only to ensure that the SUs transmit sufficient power to achieve the satisfactory quality of services (QoS) without excessive interference to other SUs, but also need to alleviate negative effects to the PUs. In this paper, a Nash-based power control game (NPCG) together with a novel interference mitigation algorithm (IMA) are proposed for SUs to efficiently trade off their QoS for better energy efficiency. The weighting constant introduced in the IMA plays a vital role to alleviate the interference produced by the SUs so that it is always below the interference temperature threshold. Simulation results show that the NPCG algorithm incorporated with the IMA not only can achieve rapid convergence, but also provide a good tradeoff between QoS and energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114518760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile robot that is equipped with vision capability and remote navigation is able to fulfill multiclass human-robot interaction (HRI) for various localization methods, interaction modes and human experience of the robot. With the advancement of embedded system and communication technology, robot can run on smaller platform and allow human navigation from distant location. In this paper, design of a remote navigational mobile robot based on live video streaming and steering control via a web browser over the Wi-Fi network is presented. The robot acts as the server and the client is the remote human operator. The project takes emphasis on building the robot that runs on a compact embedded system board, namely the Mini2440, for video streaming to remote client and linkage with the client to receive control inputs over the internet. The Mini2440 board also transfers the remote control inputs to a microcontroller board that runs on a PIC microcontroller through the UART interface. The microcontroller board then controls the pin electronics for the motor driver. A self-contained mobile robot prototype for indoor navigation was built. Experiment result shows that live video streaming from server to client is achievable at average of 0.67s video lag through the MJPEG-streamer. Robot navigation has been performed with condition that the control tool used by the remote operator has sufficient processing power for online video feed.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121074817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
