As the number of reporting organizations and published reports is increasing exponentially, development of a software system to automate the daunting manual scoring process seems even more vital. We describe our preliminary efforts and the related results of our efforts in building such software through application of machine learning approach to text classification. A respondent is asked to evaluate a series of choice sets, where the task is to choose the most preferred alternative from a series of choice sets. Conjoint choice designs are frequently based on single fractions of full factorial designs that generally do not allow estimation of interaction effects, have complex aliasing and produce biased estimates of main effects when interactions are not negligible. As an alternative to fractional factorials, 2n confounded factorial designs for conjoint choice experiments with the purpose of estimating main effects and first order interactions has been developed by the author in previous study. Reading is the main activity of interest for the research as it wholly exploits the visual sense as well as requiring full mental concentration from the subject. Most of the applications in the market today use SSVEP for visually evoked menu and characters recognition, but to the best knowledge of the authors, no research has been carried out on the analysis of the SSVEP response through a head device with only a single contact point to correlate the reading speed or learning efficiency (through visual sense) by looking at the SSVEP waveform. In order to evaluate the learning efficiency using the SSVEP data, our hypothesis is the reading activities of the neuron response itself is a stream of self-visually evoked potential. Thus, it is possible to evaluate the learning efficiency by correlated to the SSVEP of the reader or learner brain wave. In a plant, power consumption monitoring of individual inductive devices like motors would have significant impact on energy savings in the long run. However, the current practice of measurement of power consumption of the whole plant rather than individual devices results in penalties for energy losses due to variation of demand charges in a plant. Therefore, electrical power consumption monitoring on a real-time basis is essential to keep it from exceeding the critical demand level. Power meters are practical energy saving devices that can help monitor electricity consumption in a plant. This paper discusses the development and implementation of a micro-controller based portable digital power meter that has the capability to measure three phase power supply for a single device in order to optimize power usage in a plant. After a trading period, a new parametric vector is chosen using a cyclic constrained-search algorithm that improve upon the wealth achieved in the previous period. The algorithm is run on some selected stock -data sets from the local stock exchange. The people working underground are generally caught unawares of the hazardous gas emission around the locality. Hence an effective sensing and communicating system is required to effectively monitor and alert the neighborhood to save them. This paper aims in finding out a way to quantitatively measure the hazardous gas molecules. The gravimetric sensor works by absorbing the chemical in a polymer, which alters the overall mass of the sensing element i.e a cantilever, thereby its resonant frequency. Here a micro-cantilever beam is fabricated using selective coatings on the surface to selectively absorb the hazardous gases. As the gases are absorbed the mass increases and hence resonant frequency changes. This change in frequency gives the measure of the quantity of gas present in that environment. Reliable power delivery depends on the condition of the power cable and distribution system network components. Failure of power cables can cause loss in terms of power outages, capital, and human resources. This is a prime area for research. Degradation of the physical properties of the insulation over time is the usual cause of power cable failure. Factors responsible for XLPE cable degradation include but are not limited to mechanical, electrical and chemical stresses, flaws in manufacturing, and conditions in the environment. The aforesaid degradation factors cause water trees, electrical trees and partial discharge, and finally result into power cable failure. The nonlinear nature of a water tree results in harmonic generation in the AC loss current. The magnitude of the higher harmonics thus generated, depends on the amount of nonlinearity, therefore, amplitude and phase angel of the third harmonic current can be utilized to detect and quantify the degradation level.
