Results from energy simulation shows that such building with a WWR of 90% will end-up using 2,16,347 kWh per annum. If clear glass is replaced with low transmitting reflective glass and daylight sensors are added to this configuration, annual lighting and air-conditioning energy consumption will reduce by 34.22% and 14.57% respectively. The building was simulated for total nine combinations of WWR and maximum energy savings were established in a combination having 40% WWR in south, east, west façade and 100% WWR in north façade. However, from the point of view of exteriors of the building, a 60% WWR will provide better outside views to its occupants as compared to the building with 40% WWR. It was also observed that providing daylight sensors and reflecting glass do not cost more when integrated with optimum WWR as the additional cost is compensated by savings achieved from energy costs.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116139195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, the non-interactive designated verifier proof system of Jakobsson et al. with its distinguishing properties and features was recognized as the most practical proof system. Due to its interesting features, a variation of Jakobsson et al. proof system has been employed in all of the proposed identity-based and certificateless undeniable signature schemes. We analyze the security of the variation of such proof system in the identity-based setting, and present a secure pairing-based non-interactive proof system with complete set of security proofs.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122802364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the distracted driver is alerted on time, most of the physical injuries, deaths, and economic losses can be avoided. To find if the driver is distracted, an efficient inattention detection system has to be developed. Towards the same, researchers have measured driver inattention level based on any one of the following four measures: (1) subjective ratings from the driver, (2) vehicle based measures, (3) physiological measures and (4) behavioral measures. In this paper, we aim to review the above measures used to detect driver inattention based on their advantages and limitations. The issues to be considered while developing an efficient inattention detection system are discussed. The inattention detection system should be designed in such a way that it triggers the alert system only when the driver is distracted beyond the acceptable limit.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134186662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimal rescheduling of powers in a pool model is formulated as a constrained nonlinear optimization problem. The PSO-TVAC algorithm is proposed to assess the generation re-schedule to relieve the congestion optimally. The generators participating in the congestion management are selected based on real power transmission congestion distribution factors (PTCDFs). The effectiveness of the proposed method has been tested on 39-bus New England Test system. The simulation experiments reveal that the proposed method performs better than conventional PSO.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125042799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exponential growth of LED lighting resulted in a vast selection of integrated circuit devices to provide controlled white LEDs. No longer acceptable to an energy-conscious world, switched-mode LED drivers have long since replaced power-hungry linear current sources as the standard. In many instances, real-time changes in LED output intensity are required and commonly referred to as dimming control. The driver can automatically switch to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) according to dimming input signals. The study presents the potential of LED for indoor applications and demonstrates a white LED lamp module to replace the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and to reduce the energy consumption. Furthermore, a prototype of LED lamp module was fabricated to demonstrate the feasibility of such a lighting device, where the LED lamp module is compared to (CFL). Several techniques are used to provide dimming control to switched-mode WLED drivers. Experimental results are presented here to verify the performance of the driver connected to white LED lamp module. From the outcome of this study, the white LED driver circuit lamp module is much more efficient and has a great potential for indoor application.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122168934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data is being tabulated from Google Earth where the road elevation is taken from the road map. The purpose is to design a method of extraction of the latitude, longitude and altitude from external sources such as Google Maps or Google Earth. The design will be able to obtain the destination of the user and compute the data and later display it out the estimation of distance able to be travelled by the user. In contrast to earlier literature, this paper examines the impacts of budget airlines in modelling the mode choice of business travellers towards the air transport and ground transport. By undertaking a stated preference survey in Klang Valley region, Malaysia, discrete choice models are developed to analyze the behaviour and preference of business travellers towards the choice of conventional airline, budget airline, bus, car and train. The results reveal that the travelling destination, travel time, travel cost, safety and comfort are the significant determinants. The socio-economic factors of gender, race and monthly income are also found to be the influential factors. Additionally, the results of sensitivity analysis confirmed that the variation of the comfort level have a significant impact, i.e. 4.24% on the mode shift. The findings highlight beneficial information for the transport operators in improving their service's planning.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128263858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nine healthy right arm dominated males from three age-groups (adolescents, vicenarian, and tricenarian) were selected for the study. Electrodes were placed horizontally on three individual locations of the subjects' biceps brachii muscle, i.e., on the muscle belly of the biceps brachii, and on the upper and lower portion of the muscle belly. Average EMG (mean), standard deviation (SD), and coefficient of variations (CV, %) were calculated to verify the consistency of the different age groups' muscle activities. Moreover, EMG mean values were analyzed with two-way repeated measures analysis of variances (ANOVA) to monitor significant intra- and inter-muscle coordination. An online, three-channel connected and touch-proof wireless sensor was used to record the EMG signal. The results revealed muscle variability and consistency as well as the significant superiority on the biceps brachii muscle. This findings attempt to fulfill the gaps left by previous experiments based on EMG variability, subject's age variation, electrode placement, muscle contractions, etc. and to identify areas for further researche in the fields of rehabilitation, sports, and other biomedical concerns.","PeriodicalId":282263,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (STUDENT)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121625201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
