Criteria of efficiency of converters for such systems are distinguished, values of which are mainly determined by the choice of the inverter module. These criteria are used to compare main classes of inverter modules: current inverters, voltage inverters with multiple pulse width modulation and multilevel formation of the output curve. The calculations of start-oscillation currents and start-oscillation frequencies are presented for the 0.4-THz second-harmonic gyrotron with delayed reflections from the remote load at different parameters of the reflected signal. Artificial transmission lines having similar characteristics with quarter-wave segments, of which the directional coupler consists, are considered. Based on the calculations, a miniature coupler was modeled. Based on the simulation results, it can be judged that a working model of the device with an area of 70% less than with a traditional design was obtained. The miniature coupler is assembled for a frequency of 0.9 GHz and has a band of 67.5%. A typical example of such a system is a multi-cavity klystron. It is shown that optimization of multiple-cavity klystron can be successfully performed by the macrostep method. The results of optimization of klystrons with extreme efficiency values and gain bands are presented. The possibilities of development of the macrostep method are considered. The problem of forming a uniform discrete neighborhood of a point in a multidimensional space for the formation of a hyperspheric working area is considered. It is known that the efficiency of used mathematical models is determined by the speed and adequacy of numerical solutions of these equations.
