The required surface impedance for scattering cancellation is calculated according to Mie theory and then unit cell parameters are determined. Mesh grid and vertical strip geometries are applied to the dielectric cylinder respectively as a Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) design of the unit cell. Dielectric cylinder with and without FSS coating is simulated, and bi-static radar cross section (RCS) results are obtained. The results for cloaked and uncloaked dielectric cylinders are compared to each other in terms of scattering suppression performance. Notable invisibility is achieved for the cloaked cylinders at the operating frequency.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115331297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The advantages of the Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) and the related dynamic adaptations of the various Modulation&Codings (MODCODs) in a Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard can only be appreciated in conditions of channel variability. In this paper our attention is focused on a proposal of a satellite channel model that takes into account the attenuation due to rain. Our modeling method is derived from a model, known in literature, provided by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The considered model was created with the help of Matlab and basically consists of two distinct phases: the first, based on the Markov chains, allows to obtain the transition matrix of the states for a given longitude and latitude, while the second, starting from the matrices previously obtained, aims through a polynomial regression, to find a closed formula for the Markov probability, expressed as functions of latitude and longitude.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130004335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various techniques may be used, with radio-based systems being currently popular and promising. Especially, ultrawideband systems are recently getting more attention. In most cases they utilize TOA (Time of Arrival) or TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) measurements which allows for achieving localization errors lower than in other radio systems. Time measurements imply that all anchor nodes that the system is comprised of, need to be synchronized. In most cases, when synchronization methods are being described, focus is placed on their accuracy, with their influence on other characteristics of the localization system being omitted. In the paper, two wireless synchronization methods are briefly described and their influence on the tags’ packet reception ratio is simulation-tested.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127866475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The measures used for the quantitative assessment of the considered algorithms are signal-to-noise ratio and effective average gradient. The results obtained on standard natural images show a distinctive trend in behavior over all images and superior algorithms for certain orders of differentiation. Both measures show similar behavior for the lower orders of differentiation whereas the higher orders of differentiation lead to different treatment of the considered algorithms.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123801296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research question is to find the speedup of such solution versus classical virtual machine approaches with sequential or parallel threads.The challenge of migrating an existing service to a serverless solution is to adapt and reconfigure the code for serverless platform, to write the code to invoke the service in parallel and asynchronously, and to use other services in the cloud that are needed for the whole solution to be functional and scalable. Evaluation of developing various solutions matching migration challenges to Google Cloud Run, Google Cloud Compute Engine, and Google Cloud Storage (customization of code, the configuration of services) shows that greater speedups can be achieved by dividing the Embarrassingly Parallel tasks into sub-tasks executed as a serverless service. We achieved highest speedup of almost 40 for Serverless solution compared to a sequential execution on a virtual machine solution, and speedup of 23 for Serverless solution compared to a Parallel execution using virtual machines.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131897108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In UWB-based localization systems, a distance between the target object and anchor nodes is estimated by measuring the travel times of UWB signals. In indoor environments, numerous obstacles that block the Line-of-Sight (LoS) path between the target object and anchor nodes induce errors in the estimation of the time of signal flight. As a result, localization accuracy deteriorates. One of the techniques to address this issue is to discard range measurements of non-LoS (NLoS) anchors or to handle them differently when calculating the target position. In this paper, we apply Transformer deep learning model to detect NLoS channel conditions from the raw CIR data. The model has been trained and evaluated on a realistic dataset collected in an industrial environment. The results show performance improvement over the state-of-the-art convolutional neural network model.","PeriodicalId":277553,"journal":{"name":"2022 30th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134086974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
