Various kinds of research assessing the effectiveness of yoga practices on obesity are available. The present article measures the effect of 10 weeks of yoga practice including loosening exercises, yogasanas, pranayamas, kriyas, and surya namaskar among working male professionals suffering from obesity. Materials and Methods: 75 males with ages varying between 35 and 55 years were screened for the study. Fifteen participants did not meet the inclusion criteria, and were thus excluded; therefore, 60 participants were selected for the study. The included adult males did not have any disease other than obesity. The participants of the yoga group received 10 weeks of yoga practice and the control group did not receive any intervention. Body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and hip circumference (HC) of the participants were calculated at baseline and after 10 weeks. Informed consent was obtained from each participant prior to participation. The study was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee, Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to University). Results: Results reported that anthropometric variables, BW, BMI, WC, and HC (p < 0.001) had a significant reduction in the yoga group. Comparison between the group showed significant differences in BW, BMI, and WC (p < 0.05) except HC after a 10-week period. Conclusion: Present study suggests that a 10-week yoga intervention would be beneficial for working male professionals with an obesity level of one. The study has also a few implications in hospitals for patients as yoga therapy and yoga consultation.","PeriodicalId":276735,"journal":{"name":"Chettinad Health City Medical Journal","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131228676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among smartphone users ranges from 1% to 67.8%. The prevalence of neck pain in young adults among smartphone users in the past 12 months was 47.4%. Smartphone usage for prolonged periods of time causes repetitive strain of muscles. Physiotherapists utilise a wide range of interventions in the management of trapezitis including myofascial release technique and muscle energy technique. The purpose of the study is to compare the effects of myofascial release technique and muscle energy technique on pain and physical function among smartphone users with trapezitis. Methodology: 60 subjects were selected for the study and were randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Each group had 30 subjects within the age group of 18-25 years. Group A was given myofascial release technique along with cryotherapy and Group B was given muscle energy technique with cryotherapy. The parameters of the study included: Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and Neck Disability Index (NDI) scale pre-test and post-test comparison done between the groups. Results: Approximate descriptive statistics and interferential statistics along with the graphical methods were used. Both pre-test and post-test measures were analysed statistically using t-test to test the effectiveness of each technique. P value between the group NPRS and NDI (p < 0.0001) shows significance in the subjects. Conclusion: It was concluded that muscle energy technique was better than myofascial release technique among smartphone users with trapezitis.","PeriodicalId":276735,"journal":{"name":"Chettinad Health City Medical Journal","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124247382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a significant birth condition. A particular sort of Neural Tube Defect (NTD) is present. The neural tube helps form the baby’s brain and skull (upper segment of the neural tube), spinal cord, and back bones (lower half of the neural tube), as it grows and closes.When the top portion of the neural tube does not completely seal, anencephaly occurs. As a consequence, many babies are born without the cerebrum, which is the part of the brain responsible for thought and coordination, or the front portion of the brain (forebrain). Brain tissue that is not covered by bone or skin is commonly exposed. We are presenting one such case with 23 weeks of gestation and an anencephaly baby with cardiac activity.","PeriodicalId":276735,"journal":{"name":"Chettinad Health City Medical Journal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121438293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The buccal film is cutting-edge technology since it offers a better way to maximise treatment effectiveness. The medications that are used to increase bioavailability and have a high first-pass metabolism are ideal for this drug delivery strategy. Rolling, hot-melt extrusion, solid dispersion, solvent casting, or semi-solid casting can all be used to make Bioadhesive Buccal Films (BBF). The solvent casting method is the most popular of them. Organoleptic valuation, thickness, transparency, surface pH, moisture content, tensile strength, per cent elongation, folding endurance, swelling assets, drug content, and in vitro dissolution tests are a few of the mechanical assets that are assessed for the BBF. A small amount of material on earlier work on BBF has been provided in the article. This article will be useful for quick references to prior BBF attempts and guidance on how to assess them.","PeriodicalId":276735,"journal":{"name":"Chettinad Health City Medical Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122625316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subject scoping review focuses on the uptake of the AYUSH system of medicines in the backdrop of NCDs in India, systems approach to healthcare, the concept of integrative medicine and the challenges it faces in terms of scalability and mass adoption. Design & Method: Through a comprehensive literature review exercise, and nationally representative NFHS data on health, the qualitative research work presents an analysis to comprehend the evident prevalence of NCDs in India and the usage of the AYUSH system of medicine to restrain these chronic conditions with mechanisms like integrative medicine. Results: Out of the 1087 articles validated, 27 were finalised for a detailed review with respect to the identified thematic analysis. The selected articles assimilated through multiple themes and theories include the theory of the classical model of epidemiological and demographic transition and its inference in Indian settings with essential data on diseases (communicable and NCDs) in India, usage of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM/ AYUSH) in global/ Indian context and its mainstreaming with biomedicine, systems approach to healthcare and global innovations in digital health.","PeriodicalId":276735,"journal":{"name":"Chettinad Health City Medical Journal","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124164300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
