The material for the study was the websites of regional mass media of the Republic of Belarus, as well as their accounts in social networks and instant messengers. It has been established that the regional media have accumulated sufficient experience in the development of the Internet space. The main strategies for organizing the work of editorial offices on the Internet are identified. The key indicators that measure the reach and engagement of the digital media audience are considered. The performance indicators of the editorial offices of regional newspapers on the Internet were measured in a comparative aspect. The growth of the influence of social networks, recommendation services, search engines on the regional media landscape are shown. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the study of the growing dominance of global platform companies in the journalism. The author argues that traditional media are forced to resort to multi-platform, as a result of which the dominance of the Big Three social networks market (Instagram, Telegram and TikTok) leads to a blurring of the line between news and entertainment. The results of the survey of chief editors are given. The main models and tools for digital transformation of the Belarusian media space are systematized. The final conclusion of the article is that the main metric of the work of journalists in the digital environment is the involvement of the audience.","PeriodicalId":273205,"journal":{"name":"2022 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Seminar (ComSDS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125247877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research on protest sentiments plays a significant role in mobilization studies. Nowadays it is also particularly important to refer to communicative mobilization strategies in the digital environment. Digital communicative mobilization strategies become even more relevant during a pandemic. However, the question of how exactly social media impact the offline mobilization process still stays under discussion. For example, government measures against the spread of coronavirus infection in Russia have sparked a wave of discussion on social media. Do these discussions have mobilization potential? To answer this question, the paper analyses content from the Russian social network site VKontakte. The study analyzed a total of 503 posts from 8 social media groups devoted to anti-vaccination topics. The peculiarity of analysis is in the work of algorithms on social network sites. Algorithms ban information on specified subjects and authors are forced to look for ways to cheat the algorithms. Several ways of escaping the ban were discovered. One is to cover more topics than just vaccination for coronavirus. Another is using modifications of search words. In the author’s opinion, this observation could be significant for further protest discourse research in social media. The study is aimed to determine whether the information from these accounts is mobilizing. The results show that the analyzed content cannot be considered as mobilizing, due to the lack of several key characteristics. Mobilization content must contain a symbol. The basis of the mobilizing symbol is integrity, unity of communicative message, and comprehensibility. The symbol is usually represented by regularly repetitive patterns. No such patterns were found in the sample. Detected patterns are more akin to social advertising. Also, a mobilizing call for action should be free of negative connotations. Nevertheless, the study concludes that explored content can become a mobilizing one if certain aspects are considered.","PeriodicalId":273205,"journal":{"name":"2022 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Seminar (ComSDS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130801962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These perceptions are polarized in Russian society.","PeriodicalId":273205,"journal":{"name":"2022 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Seminar (ComSDS)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125609743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study is to form a classification of crises based on crisis events taking place in the field of education over the past five years and reflected in the digital information environment. On the basis of the conducted information audit and the collected empirical material in the digital space, informational occasions are given, which have become classifying signs of each potential crisis. For each selected type of crisis situation, possible causes and reputational / non-reputational risks, target groups of the public are indicated. In information theory, entropy is understood as a measure of the uncertainty of an experience (test), which is invariant as such. It was Claude Shannon who first began to use the knowledge of entropy gained in thermodynamics and statistical physics in his research on the amount of information. From the point of view of the socio-political context, entropy should be understood as an increase in the disunity of communication participants, expressed in the absence of a clear formulation of collective needs and interests in the communication process, the general atomization of civil society and, consequently, the low level of political activity of the majority of its members, or vice versa, lead to protests and conflicts in the media area. These circumstances indicate the uncertainty of the results of the communicative process and lead to instability of communication in the media environment.The interaction of individuals in media communication is possible only through the act of reaching mutual understanding. Mutual understanding processes are aimed at reaching agreement, which depends on the rationally motivated approval of a particular statement. In this case, in order to comprehend the main problems of the study, the theoretical concept of Yu.Habermas, devoted to the analysis of communicative action, and for which undistorted communication is important, communication without coercion. It is in the communicative interaction that the German scientist sees the main way that makes it possible to understand how society can influence itself, political power, the institutional design of the political system as a whole, how to lead to a certain state of stability of communication processes.L.N. Timofeeva, analyzing the postulates of Yu. Habermas points out that the communicative process should be aimed at creating an orderly normative system of stable interpersonal relations and a stable personality structure capable of coexistence in the socio-political space [1]. Therefore, in the article the author attempts to systematize the main criteria and indicators for measuring the stability of communication in the media area.","PeriodicalId":273205,"journal":{"name":"2022 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Seminar (ComSDS)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124750465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The topic of creating metaverses is discussed a lot nowadays due to the fact that several world-wide corporations expressed their interest in developing the mentioned spaces. The elaboration of metaverses will provide people access to online interaction which practically does not differ from the real-life experience. This brings up a problem of metaverses’ development effect on the process of communication and its effectiveness. Besides, it is very important to mention the main perspectives of integrating and applying the metaverse in the communication sphere. Metaverses could become a factor that will cause an adverse effect on face-to-face communication replacing it with online experience. Besides, they could catalyze the process of integration between online and offline dimensions and their further co-development starting a new era in communications. It is being reviewed and analyzed by authors.","PeriodicalId":273205,"journal":{"name":"2022 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Seminar (ComSDS)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116585855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
