Materials link countless design issues we are concerned about the most\u0000 nowadays: smart technology, digital/analog, user experiences, ecological\u0000 environment, etc. Thanks to technological evolutions, designers are\u0000 exploring new hybrid materials, which expands the contemporary design\u0000 territories. The generation of new materials is due to the transdisciplinary\u0000 dialogues among design, art, engineering, human-computer interaction,\u0000 biotechnology, etc., but also thanks to designers' understanding, exploring,\u0000 and manipulating the properties and attributes of materials in\u0000 unconventional ways. The new attributes of these material innovations have\u0000 the potential to subvert the conventional material selection in design, and\u0000 provide inspiration for new design concepts, functions, and formal\u0000 potentials. This approach, known as ‘Design with Designed Materials’,\u0000 emphasises the triggering role of materials, especially for experimental\u0000 design processes which link with various (artistic) research and creative\u0000 methods. This paper will describe how the ‘design with designed materials’\u0000 approach contributes to new material explorations and innovations, where\u0000 material can be informed by various aspects: digital, material intrinsic, or\u0000 a combination of both. By action research, the paper will elaborate on which\u0000 way ‘design with designed materials’ acts as a methodical approach in design\u0000 research and design education. This is a transdisciplinary approach that\u0000 combines the areas of drafting, known from disciplines such as architecture\u0000 and design, with those of analysis, research and development of materials,\u0000 which are known from engineering and materials technology. On the basis of\u0000 an experimental and transdisciplinary approach, new material-based and\u0000 material-induced design concepts are developed and researched, putting\u0000 material at the beginning of the design process. This approach was validated\u0000 in a series of teaching and designing activities, resulting in diverse\u0000 design works that brought new logic to the use, exploration and\u0000 transformation of materials, and the generation of design concepts. Four\u0000 example projects are selected as representatives for describing four\u0000 characteristics of materials design: properties, structures, interfaces and\u0000 systems. This paper will share those results, bringing the insight that the\u0000 new logic of materials is often beyond their original ‘inherent’ properties,\u0000 which can trigger the new way of concept generations. Materials become\u0000 carriers of a wide variety of information that enter into a dialogue with\u0000 their environment, increasingly take on the role of the actual object and\u0000 become informative and intuitive.
Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Human Systems Integration (IHSI 2023) Integrating People and Intelligent Systems, February 22–24, 2023, Venice, Italy

Hundreds of CMMs have been developed – all being made up of\u0000 indicators to be fulfilled on a certain level – shown in numerous CMM\u0000 literature review publications let alone in 2022 (Hoang 2022, Ünal 2022,\u0000 Mirihagalla 2022). This indicates the diversity but also relevance and\u0000 importance of their application domains of identifying optimization\u0000 potentials (SEI 2010, Becker 2009) and delivering a structured way for\u0000 transformation and change. Nevertheless, the situation with most academic\u0000 two-dimensional CMMs today, is that the models 1) are very general for the\u0000 subject at hand; 2) usually do not deliver understandable guidance how to\u0000 define which level it needed for the intended change; 3) usually do not\u0000 deliver specific measures to reach the next levels; 4) are mostly designed\u0000 in such a way, that the user is not able to use them without external\u0000 support; and, most importantly for this paper, 5) mix the process, human,\u0000 and technology related base capability criteria within the capabilities\u0000 necessary for the subject at hand. They are not separated enough which blurs\u0000 the assessment result. When developing a new CMM-based method to support SMEs\u0000 in the strategic decision process of the currently not very widespread\u0000 subject of smartifying products, a well-balanced approach is required which\u0000 also takes into account the explicitness and definiteness of the underlying\u0000 dimensions as well as an acceptable effort needed for their specification.\u0000 Further requirements towards such an approach are already outlined within\u0000 our previous work (Frings 2021). For this paper, we focus on the need for\u0000 explicitness and introduce a third dimension in our CMM. We separate the\u0000 thematic aspects defined within the 11 areas of action within smartification\u0000 (Frings 2022) from the cross-sectoral base capabilities grouped into general\u0000 process-, human- and technology-oriented criteria – these coming from the\u0000 corresponding core components of organizations. For each of the derived base\u0000 capabilities which include business process integration, human competencies\u0000 and capacities, as well as technological capabilities and capacities, we\u0000 defined specific criteria, i. e. documentation/reporting, responsibilities\u0000 and governance, rules and guidelines (compliance), and scalability. The\u0000 paper will give insights into these criteria and their six different\u0000 assessment levels – both specifically formulated for the smartification\u0000 intent of the SME.This multi-dimensional approach contributes to more\u0000 transparency in the assessment result, being able to derive more specific\u0000 and appropriate meas
Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Human Systems Integration (IHSI 2023) Integrating People and Intelligent Systems, February 22–24, 2023, Venice, Italy

Quality forecasts in manufacturing using autoregressive models 用自回归模型预测制造业质量
Companies in the manufacturing industry are facing a variety of\u0000 challenges such as increasing product complexity and variety and the\u0000 accompanying complexity of production processes. The developments for more\u0000 sustainability and optimized use of resources are additional societal\u0000 requirements. Consequently, the demands of efficient solutions in quality\u0000 management are also increasing. Innovative processes are needed to meet\u0000 industrial challenges. Therefore, enhanced availability of data in\u0000 production offers an opportunity. Hence, the combination of associated\u0000 process and manufacturing knowledge and data availability creates the\u0000 possibility to improve product- and process-related quality as well as the\u0000 use of resources. As a consequence, machine learning methods are used to\u0000 utilize and evaluate the collected data volumes. Their application in\u0000 quality control enables the operation of smart solutions like the detection\u0000 of anomalies in both product and process quality. However, there is no\u0000 standardized algorithm to implement in any desired production environment.\u0000 Conclusively, the application of specific algorithms is highly dependent on\u0000 the desired project output, human factors and the underlying infrastructure.\u0000 As main manufacturing branch, mass production combines the potential\u0000 benefits of machine learning applications and their occurring challenges for\u0000 product and process and monitoring. Existing reporting tools like the\u0000 statistical process control (SPC) enhance process owners to continuously\u0000 monitor manufactured products and processes. Nonetheless, the execution of\u0000 the SPC is naturally reactive, once the monitored products have been already\u0000 produced. Thus, process owners require a proactive, user friendly and\u0000 interactive forecast application regarding their product and process\u0000 quality.Predictive quality control is one way of improving product- and\u0000 process-related quality while taking advantage of greater data availability.\u0000 It represents an implementation of quality control in conjunction with\u0000 data-driven quality forecasting. This application enables companies to\u0000 conduct data-driven forecasts of product- and process-related quality. The\u0000 aim is to use machine predictions as a basis for decision-making for action\u0000 measures to be derived by the user. On the basis of the large amounts of\u0000 data and algorithmic evaluation, measures can be derived by process and\u0000 utilization investigations. Among other things, future events with influence\u0000 on the quality can be controlled in an improved way. In quality management,\u0000 decision-making processes are based on extensive data collection and\u0000 analysis. Predictive quality should be seen as a supplement to conventional\u0000 methods, e.g. SPC.Convenient implementation methods are key to achieve\u0000 effective quality monitoring in terms of product and process control. For\u0000 this reason, automated machine learning can be used to ease the realization\u0000 of forecasting methods. As most professions, design\u0000 practice also relies on artificial intelligence tools. Creativity is an\u0000 essential element for design as designer’s task is searching to solve\u0000 problems by creating solutions through new ideas, new designs. Sketching has\u0000 been traditionally used by designers over the centuries, so it is often seen\u0000 as an outdated method for design, as tradition can be thought as a strong\u0000 and unalterable link to the past. In this sense, some consider sketching\u0000 obsolete, but nowadays its use has evolved and expanded, being widely used\u0000 by various areas of knowledge and professional practice, surpassing the\u0000 previous and restricted use only by areas linked to the project such as\u0000 architecture, engineering and design. Sketches emerge from the need to fix\u0000 those first ideas that occur and that are manifested through the first\u0000 signs, coming from the brain. A sketch can be like the ‘thought of the\u0000 hand’, the hand as an extension of each thought fixed at the moment by the\u0000 hand gesture that registers it. This paper investigates the nowadays use of\u0000 sketches by designers despite the Artificial Intelligence Systems growing\u0000 importance. We intend to rise questions and search for answers and, also,\u0000 open a debate about several related issues. What is the nowadays role of\u0000 sketches in Design? Sketches can be a necessary step of a design: its first\u0000 spark? The process of thinking through sketching helps designers getting\u0000 their creativity flowing? Search engines are the first choice for users to quickly obtain\u0000 information. Improving their interface design based on quantitative\u0000 evaluation can effectively enhance the aesthetics of the interface design\u0000 and enhance the user experience. This paper selects six basic beauty\u0000 indicators: sense of order, sense of association, simplicity, sense of\u0000 union, intensity and sense of regularity, to evaluate the beauty of the\u0000 layout and background elements of the search engine interface, and to study\u0000 its impact on the influence of interface beauty. In addition, by introducing\u0000 the colour balance index, the influence of background elements of different\u0000 levels on the beauty of search engine interface under different colours is\u0000 evaluated.
