With a high accuracy, PMU measure complex current and voltage values in the installation sites. Previously [1, 2] the possibility of using PMU measurements for determining automatic excitation controller (AEC) parameters of synchronous generator using optimization algorithms was shown. However, the searching for the best optimization method for this issue has not still finished. That is why it would be reasonable to research the capability of neural networks application. At present, we can see a great interest in artificial neural networks. They are implemented in many fields of human life.","PeriodicalId":268768,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Youth Scientific and Technical Conference on Relay Protection and Automation (RPA)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132132986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the classic version of this protection, the tripping algorithm is based on a comparison of phase currents measured in half-sets. They are located at the ends of the protected object, namely at substations. Currently, in most of the combined power systems, there is a difficult situation regarding the reliability and sensitivity of the differential protection of the intersystem lines of the power grid 500 750 kV. According to the data for 2016 2017, the National Energy System of Russia recorded more than 20 cases of longitudinal differential protection failure due to insufficient sensitivity and, as a result, non-selectivity. This problem is associated with the neglect of significant unbalance current due to bias currents of power lines.","PeriodicalId":268768,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Youth Scientific and Technical Conference on Relay Protection and Automation (RPA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127187574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
