Simple expressions are derived for the field scattered by a plain dielectric wall using the Fresnel approximation with special attention paid to the stationary phase point. This way the same expression can be used for reflection and diffraction calculations. Using a polynomial approximation a simplified expression for the scattered field is derived, which is used to study the scattering of radiowaves from randomly located vertical wall(s). Good agreement is obtained between our theoretical study and experimental data.","PeriodicalId":264044,"journal":{"name":"1997 IEEE MTT-S Symposium on Technologies for Wireless Applications Digest","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125875889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new model is capable of accurately representing the current-voltage characteristics and their derivatives. A single continuously differentiable form models the subthreshold, triode, and saturation regions of operation. The model was implemented in a commercial harmonic balance simulator and parameter extraction software. Measured and simulated load-pull results at a class AB operating point are compared and show very good agreement.","PeriodicalId":264044,"journal":{"name":"1997 IEEE MTT-S Symposium on Technologies for Wireless Applications Digest","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123360686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MC-CDMA systems can increase spectral efficiency when employing the proper spreading code. Short codes can be used in MC-CDMA, since a high processing gain is not required. Short codes allow the use of maximum likelihood detection, thereby providing a simple form of multi-user detection. In contrast, correlation receivers are also feasible, since orthogonal codes are possible in an MC-CDMA structure. Correlation receivers offer low complexity for long code lengths, allowing an increase in frequency diversity. We emphasise the benefits of orthogonal codes for correlation detectors because of their effectiveness in reducing the crest factor, as well as providing low complexity receiver solutions.","PeriodicalId":264044,"journal":{"name":"1997 IEEE MTT-S Symposium on Technologies for Wireless Applications Digest","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124893639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Canadian government has also set aside frequencies for a similar service called Local Multipoint Communication Systems or LMCS. Both provide for approximately 1 GHz of bandwidth in the 28 GHz band. This spectrum will be auctioned to a single licensee for a Basic Trading Area (BTA) in the United States. There are 493 such BTAs in the US. The license holder can transmit video, voice, data and/or any combination of these in one-way or two-way systems using analog or digital techniques. TI's brand name for hardware and software designed to serve the LMDS/LMCS market is MulTIpoint/sup TM/. It is based on a cellular arrangement of nodes which provide broadband two-way wireless communications to subscribers located within a few kilometers of the nodes. The nodes are connected into the network via fiber optic cable. The system provides transmission of video, voice and data to a combination of business and residential customers alike. Although MulTIpoint/sup TM/ is being developed with basic technology today, next generation hardware will need to provide improved performance at lower costs. One way to achieve this is to implement many functions using digital signal processing. This paper highlights areas which are being considered for such implementation.","PeriodicalId":264044,"journal":{"name":"1997 IEEE MTT-S Symposium on Technologies for Wireless Applications Digest","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125567675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lee has also concluded in general that the frequency reuse factor has to be 7 for an 18 db C/I requirement when the path-loss exponent /spl gamma/=4. A simulator was built to do an exact C/I analysis. From the analysis, it can be seen that the C/I satisfaction percentage varies with frequency reuse factor K and path-loss exponent /spl gamma/. This is a characteristic in designing a cellular system. Specifically, for 94% C/I satisfaction percentage, we only need K=3 for sectorized cells. Also, we can see that the first interfering tier is the most dominating in the interference contribution. We give a conservative approximation of the ratio of 2nd and 3rd tier to 1st tier interference for uniformly distributed mobiles in the reverse link. We also find that power control in the reverse link can improve the C/I ratio satisfaction upto 45%.","PeriodicalId":264044,"journal":{"name":"1997 IEEE MTT-S Symposium on Technologies for Wireless Applications Digest","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117012119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
