This paper proposes a computationally efficient and simple fitness function for nearfield source localization by an arbitrary array using single snapshot. The DOA and range of the near field are estimated by optimizing the fitness function using particle swarm optimization. Simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance compared to maximum likelihood estimation method.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115270965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However such an approach leads to decrease in efficiency of the system as part of the generated power during light load condition is dumped in resistive loads. Several approaches which are developed to improve the performance of the ELCs still have a void where they achieved a solution with a compromise of reduced efficiency. In this work, we have proposed a central control strategy to control the frequency without reducing the efficiency, where ELC and pump loads are connected in parallel. The pump load and ELC are controlled by observing the rate of change of frequency. When the ratio is positive, loads will on and the frequency will be maintained. The proposed method is tested for IEEE 7 bus system using MATLAB/SIMULINK and test results show that the scheme is able to maintain the frequency without losing the extra power.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124273209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By considering a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii (L-K) functional, the synchronization criteria is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) for asymptotically stabilizing the error dynamics between the master-slave neuron configuration. The effectiveness of the proposed method is established through the numerical simulations of the neuron model.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117200654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intra-saliency transfer and multiple distance functions have been exploited effectively in the INS method. A color-based super-pixel segmentation approach has been used in the INS method in order to decompose the image into regions. Further, three distance functions are used to measure the saliency to effectively characterize the salient regions. These functions are evaluated and integrated to effectively determine the final saliency map. The INS method has been evaluated exhaustively on the MSRA-1000 benchmark image dataset available in public domain. Further, the results of the INS method have been compared with those of twelve state-of-the-art salient object detection methods found in recent literature. The INS method has exhibited superior saliency detection performance compared to the methods used for comparison.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"34 23‐24","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120839746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The magnitude and orientation histograms obtained from the compressed domain motion vectors are analyzed separately in order to determine the outlier thresholds. The statistical mode of the magnitude and orientation histograms combined with the Directional Self Information of the orientation histogram serves as the threshold selection criteria for the outliers based on which the inlier motion vectors are identified. The inlier motion vectors are then fed to the least square estimator which calculates the camera motion parameters. Comparative analysis is carried out with three existing state-of-the-art camera motion estimation methods to establish the proposed technique. Our experiments show that the proposed technique is computationally faster at the same time retaining its accuracy in determining the camera motion parameters.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121124030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we sought to reduce the human effort and time involved in the process by automating it. Any process of folding garments essentially requires the clothes to be brought to a standard or recognizable form to identify corners, collars or stitches. This is the innate difficulty in mechanizing the process. Our paper aims to transform a heap of clothes to a folded stack by means of simple mechanisms and electronic control systems. The work is divided into three sections based on the objectives to be attained at the end of each. The first stage involves isolating a single cloth from a heap. The next stage focuses on unfurling the cloth to a recognizable form and orienting it in a way that is compatible with the final stage. The last section of the project folds the clothes. In addition to these three main functions, automating the process also requires the clothes to be transferred between these stages. Scaled models of the first and last stages were assembled from commercial components and tested on a t-shirt, but their use can be extended to other garments with simple modifications. The unfurling stage is still in its infancy- a pliable concept that requires rigorous testing.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125855491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the electromagnetic (EM) wave technique, Magnetic Induction (MI) technique can propagate in the dynamic UG channel with less path loss. In this paper, analyses on the performance of the underground channel using EM, MI and Magnetic Induction waveguide (MIWG) is carried. Path loss analysis of the channel is carried using the three techniques. The analysis is carried by varying the coil parameters like number of turns, radius of coil, angle of coil, wire resistance, relay interval etc. the optimization is also carried. The simulation results show that path loss in UG channel is reduced by 46% when MI waveguide technique is used instead of EM waves.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125290934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we provide a dashboard framework to combine data from different analytics sources such as Google Analytics, Flurry, JSON and Excel files, to form a customizable user interface. Our framework uses two configuration files, one for generic meta information and the other for individual services, to configure the dashboard. In our interface, it is possible to program basic calculations based on data from different sources. It is also possible to incorporate interfaces like drag and drop to configure options. Our framework is based on the plugin architecture, which allows easy addition of new data sources. The framework and visualization tool are data driven, meaning that if the source data changes in the future, there is no need to amend the dashboard as well. Our solution can work with local data as well as remote data from AWS servers with added authentication. We present the components of our dashboard solution along with implementation details of a prototype dashboard for a web service.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126865016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The incoming instruction stream is then analyzed for data dependencies and resource dependencies. Instructions are distributed to functional units based on availability of functional unit and data by the dispatcher. This is referred as dynamic instruction scheduling. This paper proposes a dynamic scheduling for the superscalar processor that consists of four functional units, instruction analyzer window of 8 instructions, instruction decoder and dispatcher with register bank. Four independent out of order instructions are executed in parallel. To improve the performance of the processor in terms of speed Tomasulo algorithm is implemented using Isim simulator in Xilinx 14.5 version. To demonstrate potential of the architecture, FIR filter is implemented and compared in terms of execution time with and without dynamic scheduling and also with respect to scalar processor architecture.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115086414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The infrastructure evaluated as a platform for executing scientific workflows with resource elasticity and heterogeneity. Considering the failure of the resource along with time and cost attribute become important while allocating resources to the tasks in these workflows. The objective of the present study is to design a algorithm to optimize both makespan and reliability. In this paper, we presents a bi-objective algorithm based on wind driven optimization(WDO). A mutation operation is hybrid with the working of WDO (HWDO) algorithm that attempts to generate the schedule with maximum reliability. The goal of proposed algorithm is to approximate the solution to the scheduling problem that depicts the trade-off between minimizing makespan and maximizing the reliability of the schedule. The algorithm is evaluated on real world scientific workflows in cloud based simulation environment WorkflowSim. The results depicted an improvement in optimizing the stated parameters in contrast with other studied algorithms.","PeriodicalId":263943,"journal":{"name":"2017 14th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122417176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
