As a result, the classes of dense vegetation (18.298km²) located on the river banks were obtained, agricultural areas with high photosynthetic activity (associated with the Cultivation cycle), whose largest area is in the northern end of the municipality in the rural area; semi-dense vegetation (39.188km²), this class contains spacing between the vegetation, identified mainly in some points of the river banks and surrounding the water reservoirs constituted by shrub extract and grass; sparse vegetation (109.106km²) refers to areas without dense vegetation in larger portions of exposed soil, with its use mainly linked to pasture with animals of different sizes, as well as arable areas; and absence of vegetation (22,450km²) composed of built-up areas, water reservoirs and exposed soil. The vegetation index corroborated the soil cover analysis, being noticeable in the field some degradation processes agreed with the classes that showed less or absence of photosynthetic activity.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116240401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That region, which highlights in global levels, most of the time, is unnoticed in the schooling environment, in important school components, that might contribute for the learning of the diversity of Brazil configuration, such as, General Geography. Therefore, the presented paper has as its main purpose the report of some basic factors analysis on the Brazilian Semi-arid, which, in the current conception, must not lack in the class planners or school curriculum, as well as, there must be studdies on the theme, as the richness in vegetation, the landscapes, hydrography and other important aspects that might enhance the knowledge of that region, as well as of Geography, as an school componente, for the teaching for Elementary School Levels II. In order to obtain better results and understanding in the studies, the Thematic Cartography was used as methodology and tools through the Geoprocessing, by the use of the Ogis Software. Concluding, we may say that the Brazilian Sem-airid is a rich source of knowledge that might not lack in our Society studies.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116944129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In view of these findings, this work aims to propose a mapping of land use and occupation in the municipality of Antônio Gonçalves (BA), as a subsidy for environmental planning. To this end, the work was divided into three main stages: the first consisted of a bibliographic review; the second, consisting of the acquisition of Landsat-TM images and the third stage characterized by the integration of the data collected in a GIS environment, using the QGIS software (version 3.10.14) and the final writing of the research. Regarding the results, the predominance of shrubby caatinga was observed, whose existence is explained by the climatic context. There was also a large presence of forest areas, while the classes of herbaceous vegetation, exposed soils, urban areas, agricultural crops and continental water were a minority in the spectral result of use and occupation. In general, it is expected that this work can be the starting point for other studies that propose to better diagnose the dynamics of land use and occupation in the municipality of Antônio Gonçalves - BA.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116553109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also reveals the misinformation spread about the effects of desertification by contrasting it with reality.It was used as a foundation for reflecting on scientific studies in order to verify the authenticity of the reports' content. A bibliographic review of the major issue was conducted, as well as a survey of the reports produced by the regional branches of the TV networks, notably Rede Globo, Band, Record, and SBT. The analysis of the interviews found, as well as the organization of the information broadcast by the networks, led us to the conclusion that the way the media defines and characterizes desertification in Bahia's semi-arid region necessitates a rereading of the discourse, as well as the expansion of studies on the desertification process and the environmental vulnerability of the Areas Susceptible to Desertification (ASD).","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123934510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The maintenance of up-to-date hydrographic data, in turn, can be an instrument to support water management actions, especially in dry periods. Thus, the objective of this work is to update the hydrographic data of a sector of the Northeastern semiarid region, corresponding to Code SC.24-X-A-IV (Carta Floresta). Vector files of topographic and geological maps, orbital images from the LandSat 5, LandSat 8 and Google satellites were used, whose features were mapped in QGIS 3.10. Thus, drainage channels, beginning and confluence of drainages and water bodies were recognized and quantified, subdivided into lakes/ponds, weirs, barriers and tanks. From the update, there was an increase in these features between 1985 and 2020, mainly in the dams. It is believed that the updating of hydrographic data is essential, in order to know the spatial distribution of water resources in a precise way, and which can facilitate planning and decision-making during usual droughts and long-term droughts.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127809622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, the present text seeks to present local knowledge in the construction and development of a governance model associated with the ideas of coexistence with the semiarid region. For its construction, reference authors on the subject were used, as well as data collection in the Articulation of the Semi-Arid (ASA) and the Brazilian Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (ABONG) from a qualitative methodology. As a result, state action is centralized at the federal level, commands actions at the regional level and regulates state and local actions. This is also carried out in conjunction with organized civil society in a more intense way from the early years of this century, based on local knowledge built in recent centuries. However, this partnership model was not experienced long enough, which would allow for a deeper analysis. However, the data allow us to say that it is more efficient for the benefited populations. Finally, it is expected that this contribution will be positive in the deepening of studies on the semi-arid and sertão for their water governance.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126608343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of work revolved around the question: How to teach and learn geography in supervised internship in high school, in the context of remote teaching? Which are the potentialities and obstacles of a remote teaching in the region of Caém-BA? The research took place from the performance of the qualitative approach, from the perspective of action research, during the regency of Supervised Internship from April to June 2021. We also carried out bibliographic research, which helped to support the discourses contained in the work. The locus of the investigation was Colégio Arnaldo de Oliveira, a high school part of the State Education Network in the city of Caém-BA. Data collection occurred from experience, in the development of activities in the virtual classroom, in the interaction with students, and in assessments of the geography discipline. The results reveal that although geography can work with the lived space of students and the different spatial scales, remote teaching characterizes the contradiction of the multiple realities experienced by students in this pandemic moment, especially when regarding digital inclusion and exclusion, access to technological and pedagogical devices throughout the class process, thus demonstrating the need to readjust the educational planning of the State Department of Education, as well as the teaching practice.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131543137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, a bibliographic review of the works that addresses land use and occupation in the municipality in question was elaborated, with a brief synthesis of the historical, economic and social formation, as well as the acquisition and processing of Landsat-TM satellite images in the three historical periods with records of the use and occupation classes developed through the use of GIS. In this sense, in the historical-spatial course of 40 years, it was verified that there was a considerable increase in the areas of agricultural crops and pastures (with an increase of approximately 400% of the area covered in the municipality), exposed soil, and urbanized areas to the detriment of the areas corresponding to the native vegetation of the local caatinga biome (which decreased more than 68% of the coverage in the analyzed period). Such significant changes can be justified as a consequence of the expansion of pineapple cultivation (Ananas comosus) and the implementation of industries in the municipal territory from the 2000s.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129169301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
