The present work makes a physical analysis of one of the oldest dams that were built in the State of Ceará, which is the Patos Dam, which was built to alleviate the problem of drought in the municipality of Sobral located in the semi-arid region of the State of Ceará. The present work was carried out through an on-site visit where visual inspections were made in the structures of the Patos Dam in the municipality of Sobral located in the northern zone of the State of Ceará in a semi-arid region. It was possible to conclude that the Patos dam, which was built damming the Aracatiaçu River, is among the few that has two spillways and requires maintenance by the DNOCS (National Department of Works Against Drought) because it presents some pathological manifestations such as erosion in the spillway and the transverse undulation of a plastic nature in the asphalt coating on the road that passes over the crest of the dam. It was also possible to conclude that there is a great need for the construction of an ETA (Water Treatment Station) for the treatment of raw water for human consumption on the bank of the Patos Dam, as the population of the District of Patos has been increasing","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114801882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thinking about this issue, the main objective of this work is to use simple and low-cost resources that may contribute to the teaching-learning process of Geography in these schools. Having as justification the need to think about the use of cheap recreational resources or without any expense in the teaching-learning process, given the difficulty of having access to expensive materials or those that require advanced technology. This work was carried out in stages from an approach through action research, a bibliographical survey was carried out; studies with the textbook, realization of didactic sequences, elaboration of instruments and systematization of data on active methodologies. The main results demonstrated the various possibilities for the use of active \u0000methodologies in teaching geography in schools in the rural area of any municipality, mainly with the use of didactic resources existing in the school reality itself, that is, teachers and students. It is concluded that schools in rural areas lack infrastructure, but this is not an obstacle for the Geography teacher to be able to study Active Methodologies with his/her students; on the contrary, in any school environment it is possible for the student to be able to learn using various resources, what really has to be done is the adaptation to reality, so that there is no difficulty in its application, that is, despite real problems it is possible to use accessible teaching resources, what really needs to be done is the adaptation to the reality in which the institution and students belong.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115517916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodology is based on bibliographic research, seeking the theoretical-methodological support of the theme investigated and enabling the analytical interpretation of historical studies of geography and its scores with regard to the philosophical condition of the Brazilian Semiarid. The results are that its occupation, exploration and domain was based on hegemonic geographical perspectives, according to its historical epoch in chronological course at its level: (inter)national. Another important result was that the main predominant concepts were: geographic determinism, rationalism-systematic and mercantile-commercial capitalism at the Northeast level. Under the analysis in the regional section in the semi-arid region, two primary aspects were analyzed: the Conceptual and the Institutional one. The first focused on three relevant conceptual perspectives: Man, Nature and Economics (N-H-E). The second focused on the institutional, due to the systematic (organized) framework and the framework as a collective: the Farm, the Catholic Church and the Patriarchal Family. Four classes of vulnerability to erosive processes were identified in the sub-basin. The results showed that the classes with predominance of pedogenetic processes accounted for 34% of the sub-basin area. In the sustainable development debate, it's essential integrating sustainability into geoscience education and training. In order to have sustainable development, it is necessary to sensitize people about the functioning of environmental dynamics, considering not only biotic factors, abiotic and biotic factors work together to create a ecosystem. Environmental Education offers objective instruments to elaborate and re-elaborate personal beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviour. We aimed to analyse and discuss how geoscience and environmental education can work together to environmental conservation and preservation in the Brazilian semiarid region. The study was conducted in the Private Reserve of Natural Heritage Olho d'água das Onças (Picuí-PB) in the Northeast of Brazil. Geomorphological, geological and pedological characterizations of the study area were carried out, in order to discuss the processes involved and understand the semiarid dynamics. Our results show two distinct environments with contrasting dynamics: the flat tableland domain with Latossolo Amarelo and edge of tableland with Neossolo Litólico. Environmental educational practices in the semiarid region need to take a holistic approach with interconnected environment (abiotic and biotic). It is essential to understand and discuss the processes, especially in relation to erosion and siltation processes, which generate different impacts with economic and social consequences. It is noteworthy that Environmental Education must be assumed as an educational process of continuous training, regardless of age and location. Knowing the dynamics of the physical environment of the semiarid is of paramount importance in order to avoid land degradation and restoring degraded lands.","PeriodicalId":263940,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Semiarid","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123035432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
