The objective of this paper is to identify in the literature the methods for developing modularization in products and to assess the applicability of and tools used by these methods, aiming at favoring the method that is the most suitable for each company. To achieve these objectives, a systematic review was performed according to the repeatability and importance described in the papers. Six different methods were identified for product modularization. This paper presents an analysis of the methods in relation to the module formation steps (decomposition, integration and evaluation) and provides an analysis related to classification parameters regarding the field of each method (variety, generation and life cycle). To increase the feasibility of a project, public-private partnership (PPP) may include guarantees or other support to reduce the risks for private investors. It is necessary to value these opportunities under a real options framework and thereby analyze the project's economic feasibility and risk allocation. However, within this structure, sponsors have an implicit option to abandon the project that should be simultaneously valued. Thus, this article proposes a hypothetical toll road concession in Brazil with a minimum traffic guarantee, a maximum traffic ceiling, and an implicit abandonment option. Different combinations of the minimum and maximum levels are presented, resulting in very high or even negative value added to the net present value (NPV). The abandonment option impacts the level of guarantee to be given. However, due to price uncertainty, it may be optimal for the firm to temporarily suspend production and sell the available energy. If this strategy creates value, governments can create incentives through price signals for these firms to take their plants offline and increase the supply of electricity during times of shortage. This study analyzes the case of an aluminum plant that has the choice of temporarily suspending operations and models its managerial flexibility as a bundle of European switch options. The suspension and modeling would occur under two simultaneous situations, uncertainty and asymmetric state switching costs under the real options approach, to determine whether the changes add value to the firm. The majority of articles regarding projects include factors of success and failure, but only a few embrace cultural perspectives. To provide more insight into the effects of cultural perspectives, this paper presents findings from an exploratory study that investigated how Brazilian information technology companies perceive project success and failure, and then makes inferences regarding the cultural factors. Interviews and questionnaires were applied, and the results provide insights for understanding how cultural factors may influence the project success perceptions. The theoretical framework is grounded in concepts related to projects and partnerships that address aspects related to motivation, characterization and dynamic operation. The exploratory research was conducted in an engineering services organization, mixing methods of qualitative and quantitative research. Data were gathered from 11 projects in partnerships via interviews performed with 43 managers involved in such projects. The combination of the literature review and the field research evidence highlighted some critical success factors in the projects of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) that were developed in the alliances. The results indicate five factors that were strongly correlated: cooperation, trust, information exchange, synergy and degree of integration. In this context, this paper presents the practical application of postponement in a textile company along with an analysis of the results. The work considers a case study, whose evidence was collected from various sources. Pereira","doi":"10.1590/0103-6513.060010","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1590/0103-6513.060010","url":null,"abstract":"O tema da estruturacao de redes de suprimentos, observado a luz da cooperacao entre empresas, tem sido estudado como forma de entender como as empresas participantes de uma rede de suprimentos podem se inserir com mais chances de posicionamento competitivo dentro de um novo ambiente de negocios complexo e dotado de rapidas mudancas. O objetivo desta pesquisa e analisar o comportamento de atributos considerados importantes na construcao de relacionamento colaborativo em redes, partindo do pressuposto de que este relacionamento favorece a competitividade interna das empresas e da sua rede. O estudo e realizado a partir da analise de praticas de relacionamentos existentes na industria de construcao naval (ICN) no Brasil, considerando os principios colaborativos propostos na teoria e o contexto da industria analisada. As analises sao baseadas nas respostas de 196 empresas respondentes de umasurvey aplicada a um total de 1.160 empresas identificadas, localizadas em todo o pais. Atraves da tecnica de Analise Fatorial, foram selecionadas 15 variaveis que explicam os relacionamentos colaborativos nessa rede, sendo obtida a simplificacao destas em cinco componentes principais, aqui agrupados e denominados como mecanismos ou praticas dequalidade, de inovacao, deconfianca, de proximidade e deprodutividade. The application of EVA as a performance metric is different from the approaches of other studies. The Brazilian database Economatica, financial websites, and companies' websites were the main data sources used. The data acquired covered a period of time of ten years (2000-2009). Parametric tests were applied to test the hypothesis. The main finding indicates that the winner companies increased the value creation to the shareholders after being awarded the National Brazilian Quality Award. Another main finding indicates that the winner companies have increased the value creation on average to the shareholders more than the companies from the same economic sector after being awarded the National Brazilian Quality Award. This paper recognizes and supports these important developments but argues that organizational cognition must advance toward more concise and sharp conceptualizations with clear distinctions and frontiers regarding organizational intelligence, autonomy, learning, and knowledge management. Additionally, this paper suggests that advancements in organizational cognition must bridge theory and practice. The development of this scale was enabled by the use of a measuring instrument consisting of 34 items guided by the concept of continuous improvement applied to a sample of 519 employees of the organization. The data were analyzed using statistical tools, such as the item response theory, specifically via the nominal response model. As a result, the equalization could be applied between the items, and the scores of individuals could be studied, allowing for the development of a metric with different levels for the practice of continuous improvement.
