Assim sendo, empresas de diversos setores industriais vem estruturando seus processos de gestao de portfolio no processo de desenvolvimento de produtos (PDP). Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho objetiva desenvolver uma proposta de selecao e priorizacao de projetos de novos produtos voltada para uma empresa fabricante de produtos texteis. Com base em um diagnostico inicial para identificar oportunidades de melhoria na gestao de portfolio de produtos, e feita uma proposta baseada em criterios tais como: importância estrategica, margem de contribuicao, volume de venda previsto, dentre outros. A proposta foi entao confrontada com dados historicos advindos de situacao real, onde constataram-se alteracoes significativas na priorizacao dos produtos a serem desenvolvidos, devido a alguns fatores, dentre os quais os principais foram o superdimensionamento das margens de contribuicao e dos volumes de venda. Por meio da comparacao na aplicacao da proposta, conclui-se que esta possibilita que a selecao e priorizacao de produtos a serem desenvolvidos pela empresa ocorram de forma mais bem estruturada e criteriosa.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121249220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims to present a method based on continuous pressure measurement of the passenger-seat interface along with other techniques such as observation, post-experiment report and video recording to evaluate comfort and discomfort in aircraft cabins. In a first step of the method, participants evaluated the performance of reading and resting in 40 minutes tests conducted in a simulated aircraft cabin interior. In a second step, a brainstorming session was conducted to generate improvements in the aircraft seat and cabin. The last step of the method consisted of the prototyped and analysis of the solution proposed during the brainstorming in a condition of use.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134581503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, a systematic review was applied and five case studies have been carried out in industrial companies with considerable environmental performance. Located in the state of Sao Paulo, the researched companies have got CP projects to ensure environmental and economic gains and shown prominent compatibilities with the EMS based on ISO 14001. The proposed guidelines were performed in three parts: the planning stage, the integration stage and the stage of evaluation and analysis. The main compatibilities include dissemination of the environmental culture, synergy between some specific requirements of the standard and the CP, as the general requirements, legal requirements, environmental policy, training, qualification and monitoring. The guidelines can increase operational efficiency and strategic environmental management in enterprises.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133889307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, studies have emphasized that disabled, obese, and elderly passengers face difficulties when using this means of transport. Among these difficulties, issues related to passengers’ own assistive devices, including damage, loss, or the impossibility of using during the entire flight, stand out. Therefore, the present study aims to understand the trends in assistive technology focusing on cabin design. This research is based upon literature review, interviews with manufacturers and research centers, visits to specialized trade fairs, and patent search. The results revealed a great diversity of assistive products, its trends, and an increase in their use, which affect aircraft cabin design, especially in terms of space, access, and stowage of these devices.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129023101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of the entire volume of soybean produced in Brazil, approximately 40% is for export. As soybean crops are mainly concentrated in the center of the country, the soybeans generally must travel large distances to reach the seaports. In this case, intermodal transport can enable the movement of large volumes over long distances in a more efficient and economic manner. In this study, we analyze the application of a mathematical programming model to support decisions on the soybean flows and the locations of intermodal terminals. Based on secondary data, three alternative networks are proposed, with different coverage areas and the possibility of using railroads in construction or the design phase. The primary soybean producing states and traders were considered. Experiments with the model resulted in identification of the transport flows and the location of terminals consistent with reality. Alternative scenarios for the network were also analyzed, showing the potential of this analysis optimization tool.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116212270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We took two steps to determine the efficiency. In the first step, we used Slack Based Measure models with discretionary variables. In the next step, we used Tobit models to control the effects of the non-discretionary characteristics. The methodology used relates FUNDEF and the efficiency measure through selection models based on observable characteristics. The datasets used were Censo Escolar, Prova Brasil and Finbra. The results indicate an increase in the levels of efficiency after eight years of FUNDEF implementation. This result indicates that the improvement of an efficient local educational structure takes time and provides good perspectives on the results of FUNDEB.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123555244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These relationships were tested using a set of success indicators known as the “iron triangle” that involve compliance with budgeting, scheduling and quality (product/service requirements and customer needs). To test the hypotheses, this research adopted a quantitative approach with a survey of 336 project management professionals in metropolitan Sao Paulo. Statistically significant relationships were identified between project success and critical success factors and between project success and project management maturity. Project management maturity was the variable that was most related to project success.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121668933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this work is to perform a comparative analysis of the mathematical formulations for this environment by minimizing the makespan, i.e., the total time to complete all n jobs. Popular models and a proposed model are compared and evaluated through computational tests using cases from the literature. In addition, resolution strategies are proposed. Computational experiments using a well-known commercial software package indicate that the proposal strategies can promote a reduction of the optimality gap.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129886397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The selection of the studied events was based on the extent of their impact, considering the number of casualties and the number of victims affected by the disaster. Based on an analysis of secondary data, the best practices, the problems that occurred and the main challenges of these humanitarian operations are identified. As a result, suggestions are proposed to improve the effectiveness and the success rate of the logistics process in other humanitarian response operations. Finally, this study contributes to the identification of procedures that can serve as the basis for the development of more effective models for the response operations of similar events.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126524943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The innovation value chain approach, adopted in this paper, provides a broad view of innovation management. It is not restricted to the traditional approach, which is focused on intensive R&D and product development activities. Through the methodology of multiple cases, we analyze how the case study companies manage and organize their innovation chains and consider a possible convergence with the “typical low-tech mode to innovate” present in the literature. The results do not point to the existence of a typical way to innovate for low-tech firms vis-a-vis the high-tech companies. Empirical evidence shows that although these companies have strategies, objectives, resources and differentiated demands, we found that, contrary to both common sense and the literature, these companies organize and manage their supply chain innovation very similarly to high-tech companies, which does not characterize a typical way to innovate.","PeriodicalId":263089,"journal":{"name":"Production Journal","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114595312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
