This paper describes the validation of five dispatching algorithms for an elevator system that was implemented on Spartan 3 FGPA based boards in an integrated approach. The focus was on area reduction and performance improvement. The overall system is composed of several LCS, which implement the dispatching algorithms, an RS485 based network and a virtual environment called virtual elevator interface system (VEI). The latter includes a simulator/monitoring system and an EGCS based on fuzzy logic (FEGCS). The FEGCS runs on a PC and, under different traffic situations, determines the best algorithm to be run in each LCS reducing the user waiting time and the power consumption. The novelty of this approach is that the LCSs are capable to run several dispatching algorithms that are suitable for different passenger traffic situations, while the FEGCS only must determine the best algorithm to be run in each LCS. The VEI allows the designer to test and validate in a flexible way the algorithm performance for different traffic situations.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132954983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The constraints that must be fulfilled by the voltage wave supplied by utility companies have become more and more exigent. For this reason, the PQ measurement equipment requires new and computational efficient algorithms. This paper explores the application possibilities of continuous wavelet transform (CWT) to PQ analysis by means of simulation. The signature of different PQ disturbances on the signal scalogram is shown and some figures of merit are proposed in order to evaluate the quality of a given wave.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132043467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a 128-bit Feistel block cipher, which simultaneously engages key-dependent S-box and key-dependent P-box. With these two key-dependent transformations, the internal structure of this cipher algorithm is secured, so as to resist the linear and differential cryptanalysis in a few round encryptions. Hence, the encryption and decryption functions are quite efficiency. We named this key-dependent structure the DSDP structure, and the cipher DSDP. A fast permutation algorithm is used to generate both the key-dependent S-box and key-dependent P-boxes. This greatly compensates the performance penalty of complex key schedule. The basic operations used in DSDP are all efficient bytewise operations, so the algorithm will have a reasonable fast speed on recent processors, 16-bit processors and smart cards as well as 8-bit processors. We implement the algorithm with C and Java respectively on several PCs with different processors, and estimate the optimized assembly performance on Pentium. The experimental results and the estimation show that DSDP has a very fast encryption/decryption speed and a reasonable fast key scheduling implementation.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133235446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This control technique gives satisfactory tracking performance provided the task is strictly repeatable. Many a times, it is required to track periodic trajectories of different frequencies that are identical in spatial patterns. In such applications, any change in the reference trajectory requires initiating a fresh learning process for the conventional ILC, which results in larger error during learning phase and longer error convergence time. An improvement in tracking performance in such cases can be realized using the previously stored history of control efforts that gives optimum tracking performance. This knowledge helps in predicting the control effort for a different frequency but identical spatial pattern reference trajectory. In this paper, such a direct learning control (DLC) technique that uses the knowledge of the control history is proposed and subsequently used in co-ordination with the ILC for achieving excellent tracking performance and fast error convergence. Experimental results for position tracking of linear ultrasonic motor (LUSM) demonstrate that this hybrid scheme limits the tracking error and error convergence time to about one third as compared to that without using DLC.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131896470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of direct-axis current PI (proportional-plus-integral) regulator, quadrature-axis current PI regulator, a position loop feedback PD (proportional-plus-derivative) controller and a disturbance observer (DOB). The stability conditions of the position control system with DOB for induction machine drive are given in frequency domain and time domain respectively. The position-tracking performance has been examined by experiments under the external disturbance. The performance of the system with DOB plus PD has been compared with PD. The results show that DOB plus PD has a better ability to deal with the external disturbance. Through experiments, speed measurement delay-dependent stability of the system has been studied. The conclusion is that the DOB plus PD can also handle large inertia load variations.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115452537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It provides variable speed characteristics in a cost-effective way. The main drawback of this machine is its sensitivity to grid disturbances. Voltage dips cause overvoltages to appear in the rotor that can surpass the converter limits. Additionally, variations of the grid voltage cause the stator flux to oscillate at the grid frequency. This paper proposes a novel control strategy to overcome these problems; furthermore, it reduces the rotor voltage, improving the control of the rotor current and it accelerates the dumping of the flux oscillations.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114465848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach helps to extract the origin of the bearing damage that develops during the aging process and then, it can be used to find the potential defects, which exist in healthy motor bearings as manufacturing defects. In this manner, there are two fundamental steps of the study. They are the definition of the transfer function and feature extraction which is related to the bearing damage characterization in electric motors. The definition of the feature transfer function is done between the first scale of the CWT analysis and original vibration signal in the frequency domain. Hence, it is introduced as a new viewpoint for condition monitoring studies in induction motors.","PeriodicalId":262939,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117067746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
