Commonly thermocouples are made of aluminium and polysilicon or semi-metals materials as Sb, Te and Bi. Exposure to elevated temperature in the range of a few hundred degrees centigrade would affect the functionality of the devices and leads to system failure. Prior to this work an approach for the realisation of high-temperature stable thermopiles made of tungsten-titanium alloy and polysilicon has been reported. Due to implementation of a diffusion barrier of TiN at the thermoelectric contacts the diffusion processes could be suppressed to a great extend and the temperature stability of these thermoelectric devices has been further improved. The practical mapping system to generate accurate maps in unknown environments is one of the main requirements for mobile robots. The mapping system is divided into hardware and software parts. The hardware part, mobile cart, consisted of two encoders, a laser range sensor and a DSP board. Two encoders mounted on each back wheel of the mobile cart measure the distance traveled. The laser range sensor measures the distance from the nearest object to the sensor. The DSP board synchronizes the measured data from the encoders and the laser sensor and provides them to software part. The software part builds a metric map in the environment based on extended Kalman filter (EKF) localization that takes into account both the distance traveled by encoders and the information gathered by laser sensor to estimating the position of mobile cart. The proposed system accommodates the demand for the modest and user-friendly mapping system which can be used to explore and construct the map into the robot environment. This new fabrication technique is a promising one of low cost, because of the high-precision etching in low price. Perfect electric connection can be realized between the slotted plate and the grooved waveguide base by diffusion bonding even at a high frequency such as 94GHz. A designed 18×18-element antenna is trial fabricated by using copper. The antenna efficiency is achieved at 60% for 31.4dBi gain at 93.7GHz in this copper antenna. The MOS capacitor based model sensors employ different combinations of insulator and contact materials, such as MgO, LaF3, IrO2 etc. The gas composition downstream of the sensor during test gas exposure at various conditions has also been studied by mass spectrometry (MS) and compared for the different model systems. This work is a preliminary but innovative approach applying a bio-thermochemical microsensor to monitor the formation. It is observed that the bolometer surface keeps a long time intact behavior of the liposome up to 24 hours. In the range from 280 nm to 325 nm, the sensor exhibits extremely high sensitivity of 60 KHz/¿W/cm2 at low UV powers (¿30 ¿W). The maximum oscillator frequency shift of 4 MHz was observed at 375 nm corresponding to UV power density of 70 ¿W/cm2. This is at least two orders of magnitude higher than the values previously reported in literature for GaN-based SAW delay-line oscillators. The spectral response data from LC oscillator have been corroborated with direct measurements of photocapacitance and photoconductance values extracted from S-parameter measurements in both frequency and time domains. The sensitivity of the fibre to ionising radiation is shown to be dependant on wavelength, with the sensitivity increasing with decreasing wavelength. The fibres exhibit high sensitivity, as high as 0.6dBm−1/kGy, and are capable of monitoring dose ranges between 30Gy and 45kGy. This exceeds the sensing range of all currently commercially available PMMA slab sensors.
