Privacy invasion is the unauthorized intervention of other people in the private area of the person. The current study was largely concerned with the association between digital game addiction, specific cognitive functions especially, three components of executive function (inhibition, set shifting and working memory) and impulsivity in early adolescents. Sampling consisted of 6th (55.1%) and 7th (44.9%) grade middle school students (36 females and 62 males). The mean age of the students was determined as 12.35 years (SD =0.75; age range, 10–14 years). Digital game addiction, inhibition, set shifting, working memory, and impulsivity were evaluated via Digital Game Addiction Scale (DGAS), Stroop Test TBAG Form, Trail Making Test (TMT), Wechsler Memory Scale-III Letter-Number Sequencing Subtest (WMS–III/LNS) and Short Form of Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11-SF), respectively. According to the correlation analysis results, selective and complex attention, inhibition, set shifting, and impulse control were diminished with increasing digital game addiction. There is no significant relationship between digital game addiction and working memory. Consistent with the correlation analysis, structural equation model results revealed that digital game addiction significantly predicts inhibition, set shifting and impulsivity [x2 (15, N = 98) = 7.476, p > 0.5; x2/df = 1.246; RMSEA = .05; CFI = .95; GFI = .97]. As a results, it can be concluded that digital game addiction should be controlled in order to manage impulses and develop high-capacity cognitive skills in children.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139366762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This discipline, called psycho-informatics, uses computer science to predict human emotions, thoughts and behaviours. In the current century, where technology touches every aspect of life, the use of the internet enables people to access unlimited information very quickly, as well as creating unlimited information by leaving traces in the digital world. Today, when we look at the studies in this field, it is seen that in the international literature, there are mostly studies on predicting individuals' personality traits; smartphone, social media and internet usage behaviours; psychological health and problematic behaviours. While the present study aims to draw attention to psycho-informatics, a brief overview of psycho-informatics is presented and ethical problems that may arise are discussed. It seems to be a priority for researchers working in fields such as psychology, linguistics and computer sciences to be informed about the basic ethical standards in order to carry out joint studies and to carry out healthy studies.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are not many studies in the literature on assessing attention, memory and executive functions of children with SLD in Turkey. The aim of this study is to comparison attention, memory process and executive functions between group with SLD and comparison group. The sample of the study consists of 45 children with SLD and 33 healthy children. SLD Clinical Observation Battery (SLD-CO Battery), California Verbal Learning Test- Children Version, Stroop Test TBAG Form and Wisconsin Test used for all groups in the study. Mann Whitney U test analysis were used to compare scores of the two groups and Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to reveal the relationships between the variables. The results of the analysis assessed and determined significant differences between subscores of the tests. It was observed that there was a significant difference between the two groups, especially in the sub-dimension of the Stroop test that evaluates reading speed, but no significant difference was found in terms of attention assessment. In California Verbal Learning Test’s subscores which especially assesses short term memory, the children with SLD had significantly lower scores from comparison group. In Wisconsin test which assessed executive function of children in this study, the scores shown that the comparison group had better performance than children with SLD. As a result, it has been revealed that the performance of children diagnosed with SLD is much lower in terms of attention, memory and executive functions compared to children with normal development. Findings suggest that it may be beneficial to focus especially on attention, memory and executive functions in children diagnosed with SLD.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139366931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although this has been demonstrated by studies conducted in places of different scales, including neighborhoods and cities, evidence is needed to reveal how the university campus influences the quality of life of its students. So, the main aim of the current study is to figure out the role of university identification in the relationship between university campus attachment and life quality. A total of 296 university students (226 female, 68 male, 1 non-binary, 1 not stated) completed Group Identification Scale, University Place Attachment Scale and WHOQOOL-BREF-TR. A path analysis by using jamovi was carried out to test the effects of exogenous demographic variables on the endogenous variables. Findings demonstrated that sense of security in the campus and the satisfaction with the physical and social facilities of the campus positively predict campus attachment. In addition, our results suggested that university campus attachment has a positive indirect effect on the quality of life through the identification with the university. Our results implied that university authorities should take into consideration the effect of campus atmosphere on life quality of students.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139366706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A popular measure of time orientation is the Consideration of Future Consequences Scale (CFCS-14), which has two dimensions: immediate and future. Although widely used in individualistic societies, the usage of this scale, particularly in collectivist cultures, is limited, creating a gap in understanding the cross-cultural implications of temporal orientation on health behaviors. We translated the CFCS-14 into Turkish and examined its psychometric properties and practical utility within the context of health behaviors. A total of 589 undergraduates completed a survey, consisting of the Turkish version of CFCS-14 and measures of time perspective, sensation-seeking, autonomous-related self, subjective well-being, positive and negative affect, problematic alcohol use, and smoking. Both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses provided evidence for the existence of two correlated factors. CFC factor scores showed robust links with problematic alcohol use, daily cigarette consumption, sensation-seeking, and autonomous-relatedness. However, correlations with subjective well-being and affect were weaker and statistically non-significant. These findings underscore the cross-cultural applicability of CFCS-14's structure, validity, and reliability. This research contributes to the broader understanding of time orientation theories and their practical implications in diverse cultural settings.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to having a significant consumption power, it attracts the attention of marketers and researchers because it also has very different characteristics from previous generations in terms of consumption habits. Social media influencers are one of the most important marketing communication and social interaction elements for Generation Z, who grew up with digital, expects instant access to information, and is interested in short video content. For this reason, \"social media influencers\" have become one of the most attractive topics for recent research examining consumer psychology. This study aims to find out the role of \"social media influencers\" in Generation Z consumer behavior. For this purpose, the studies in the relevant literature were reviewed and summarized with a model proposal. According to the model presented in the study; \"parasocial relationship\" with social media influencers, \"credibility” of the influencer\", \"influencer compatibility with the brand\", \"content value\" and \"originality\" of influencer posts, \"engagement rate\" are the factors that positively affect the self-brand connection, brand image, purchase intention and brand loyalty. It is thought that the model proposal presented offers a perspective that will inspire interdisciplinary studies in which different fields especially psychology and marketing can be integrated.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"44 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139366565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since these grandiose beliefs are dependent on getting validation from other groups, those identiying with their in-groups in the narsissistic way have preoccupations about these in-groups being underappraciated. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary on the outcomes of collective narcissism regarding political psychology in the Turkish literature. Accordingly, the first part of the review includues the theoretical background of collective narcissism and the empirical studies investigating its origins. The second part includes the review of the empirical studies that examined the effects of collective narcissism on politics under four sections (perceptions about country and history, conspiracy theory beliefs, voting preferences and views on democracy, supported policies and applications). The research reviewed demonstrate that collective narcissism studied in the national contexts predicts electorates’ political preferences and beliefs that could have harmful consequences both for internal and external politics. The last part of the review points out research gaps based on the critical analysis of the reviewed studies, and presents future research suggestions for the researchers and students who would like to study on this topic.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This review paper aims to provide relevant scientific evidence to understand how the utilization of polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA), specifically omega-3, can contribute to preventing these changes and complementing existing treatment methods in the context of neurobiological and behavioral alterations caused by obesity. Focusing on studies involving high-fat diet-induced obesity and maternal obesity, the review specifically addresses research conducted on rodents. While the initial changes in obesity are observed in peripheral tissues, studies indicate that obesity can also lead to various disorders in the brain. The utilization of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids stands out as an important strategy due to their anti-inflammatory effects, critical role in mesocorticolimbic and endocannabinoid pathways, and potential to correct relevant changes in the brain. In this context, the review first provides a brief description of obesity pathophysiology, including changes occurring in peripheral tissues and the central nervous system. Subsequently, the general effects of n-3 PUFA are elucidated. Furthermore, the effects of n-3 PUFA on the endocannabinoid system linking obesity and n-3 PUFA, as well as their impact on brain dopaminergic reward systems and neuroinflammation, are examined. By offering new perspectives on how obesity-related brain changes can be altered under the influence of n-3 PUFA, our review aims to contribute a unique insight to the field.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Study 1, in which 360 university students between the ages of 18-50 (Mage= 22.53; SD = 4.19) participated, an open-ended question was asked to the participants as to what kind of a threat you think the Syrian minority group living in Turkey could pose to the country and the participants' responses were grouped under 7 categories and 27 themes. In Study 2, in which 406 university students aged between 18-47 (Mage= 22.50; SD = 3.39) participated, the participants were asked two open-ended questions about what they think about the Syrian minority group living in Turkey and the Kurdish minority group living in Turkey, and the answers were grouped under 10 categories and 39 themes. Compared to the Kurdish group, the Syrian group is seen as a more serious threat. In addition, positive attitudes towards the Kurdish group were expressed more frequently compared to the Syrian group. The categories and themes identified in this study, which comparatively examines the views of the two largest minority groups living in Turkey, will provide resources for researchers focusing on minority-majority relations in the country and will be useful for the authorized parties in the process of developing policies that will facilitate the integration of minority groups into society.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advancement of virtual reality technology, new research questions can be posed. Thus, different experiences of the body, relationships with avatars, and the use of mobile and interactive media are increasingly preferred as research topics and research methods. In addition, the relationships that people establish in virtual environments have become a new type of interaction in social psychology that needs to be investigated. The aim of this review is to examine how virtual reality is handled both as a study tool and as a field of study in social psychology. First, technical terms and the necessary software and hardware are introduced, and the concepts of presence and immersion, which are important in the virtual reality literature, are explained. Subsequently, examples of studies conducted with virtual reality in areas such as the self, morality, identity, terror management, and social impact in the field of social psychology are presented. Technical limitations, such as the uncanny valley, virtual reality sickness, ethical issues, and experimental design issues that may arise in virtual reality studies, are discussed. Finally, the contributions of virtual reality to the field and what it can do are emphasized.","PeriodicalId":262181,"journal":{"name":"Nesne Psikoloji Dergisi","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
